I was diagnosed with celiac disease back in August 2019. Prior to my diagnosis I was struggling with a severe eating disorder, switching back and forth from binging and purging to starving myself. I gained 20lbs in 3 months but I’m now down 30lbs since then. And that didn’t happen by following the diet and taking care of myself.. I will starve myself and then binge on pizza or fast food and sometimes purge after. And obviously I end up in excruciating pain and sick from the gluten. I have recently become extremely ill, no energy, constant bloating and cramping, anemic, hypo thyroidism etc. To the point my family has become aware and is very concerned. As well as my doctor looking into possible crohns or cancer. My fiancé knows about my eating disorder and is trying his best to help me but I hide it from him. I know this is crazy and I’m essentially killing myself. I don’t know what’s wrong with me. This started in September 2018 and I stoped when I got my positive blood test but when I had to eat gluten before my scope I completely relapsed and haven’t been able to fully stop. I’ve been seeing a psychiatrist and psychologist and they put me on vyvanse which makes me feel completely out of sorts mentally but gets rid of my appetite completely. This has gotten to the point where I’m wondering if I should be checking myself in to an eating clinic or something. This has consumed me entirely and I’m not sure how to get this under control..

I'm kind of at wits end here. I was diagnosed with celiac disease 4 years ago, I was 16, having stomach issues, etc. At first I didnt take the diet seriously AT ALL. like I just didnt care. I'm now rearing 20, and over the past 2 years or so I've been on and off and then on and off again the celiac diet. Sometimes I do great! I always fail though. I always just get a craving and i give in. i dont know what to do! I know I want to stop eating it. I have gained weight and I'm just MISERABLE. but I always seem to go back to it. Does anyone have any advice? I'm desperate. I live in a house full of gluten eaters, btw.

I have been a diagnosed Celiac for 6 years now. The moment I was diagnosed I have lead a strict gluten free life, I wasn't taking any chances and wanted to feel better. Over the past 6 years I have never intentionally eaten gluten, but there have been times that I have had cross contamination, especially eating out. Yesterday was quite an experience and I've learned from it and upon trying to research it I found nothing....I'm hoping I'm not the only one, although I wouldn't wish this on anyone. About a year ago I found a Chinese restaurant that had an owner who's claim to fame was she had found ways to make just about everything on the menu gluten free. Gluten free Chinese food? Yes please!! I ate there 4 times with no reaction....ahh, life is complete!....until yesterday. I ordered the gluten free potstickers and sweet and sour prawns. About 2 hours later I started feeling really nauseous. The first thing I thought was maybe I got cross contaminated. Then within the hour I told my friend that I needed to go to the emergency room. I had SEVERE middle back pain and upper stomach pain. I was dizzy, extremely nauseous and my lips were burning and tingling. By the time we pulled up to the emergency room I couldn't stop throwing up....it was bad. And the pain was so intense I was told I was whimpering. They got me in right away and started me on an iv and gave me toradol for the pain and zofran for the vomiting. The doctor wanted to do blood work and an ultrasound because he was concerned it was my gallbladder. Well, everything was fine and it was the gluten, although they couldn't test or confirm it. It is day 2 and my lips are still tingly and I still have quite a bit of pain and nausea. I'm extremely tired and weak. I was looking online for people that have had the same or similar reaction and found nothing....am I the only one? Some things I know have helped me and hopefully they can help others....if you've been cross contaminated or "glutenized" as I call it....chew a handful of vitamin c chewables, it helps. Drink LOTS of water. Stick to a bland diet and NO caffeine for a few days to let your stomach heal. Heating pads help and get lots of rest. And there is an amazing product called GI Response, you can buy it on Amazon. It's expensive but you will thank me later. I don't know how long it will take to feel back to "normal", but I have sworn off eating out....I'd swear off eating if I could. Being gluten free sucks. But that's what we've been dealt and so we must deal with it the best we can. I hope that I've helped at least one person.....and if you are unfortunate enough to have the same reaction to gluten as me....know that you aren't alone.

I About three weeks ago I happened to be eating a bun. Since then, I still have stomach aches, my defections are not normal, and my cycle is over a week late. I am 21 years old, I have been diagnosed with gluten sensitivity in my infancy. I'm really stressed out, and I'm afraid to go to the doctor and hear that I've caused permanent damage. Does it make sense that it has been so long and I still suffer from pain and unregular defections? And did it happen to someone, that her period was late after consuming gluten? Did the period come back after that, and did you have to take any pills? And if I go to the doctor, which doctor should I go to, general, endocrinologist, gynecologist?
