Hello everyone, I need a kick in the butt. I have struggled with my relationship with food my entire life. I was diagnosed a coeliac at 10 years old and I followed a pretty strict diet till I was 17 because I was living with my mum. After that, I moved by myself and I started struggling with money and paying everything off. I started buying gluten products because they were cheaper but then it became a vicious circle where I would eat gluten, feel bad for eating gluten and eat more gluten. I have developed osteoporosis, vitamin D deficit and Hashimoto's thyroiditis. I am now 24 and I am genuinely scared because I want to be able to conceive soon and also I am terrified of going to the doctors to see the damage I have done to myself. I know I am killing myself but for some reason I cannot stop. It's almost like I live for that feeling of misery that comes after eating gluten. I don't know what to do. Please help.

Hello! I am looking for some advise on what to do in the midst of being diagnosed. So far I have had blood tests and tested positive for Tissue Transglutaminase. I am due to have an endoscopy with biopsy in August and until then I will not receive a diagnosis of Celiac Disease. I have had some serious stomach/GI issues for years and only now have had some light shed on the cause. I am even having my gallbladder removed next week due to these GI issues. My question is: should I start cutting gluten out now, or should I wait for diagnosis? I have read on a few sites that cutting gluten now can in turn result in a false negative for some celiac testing. The thing is my stomach is in such bad shape right now that I'm almost exclusively living off of yogurt and rice bowls. Waiting a month like this might not be an option. I'm hoping my gallbladder removal will help mitigate some symptoms, but I'm not so sure. Please let me know if you have any advise. Thank you all!

Hi, apologies in advance if this has been asked before: I went out for sushi with my wife on Saturday, and I accidentally dipped one piece into the soy sauce and ate it, due to old habits. As well, I put a piece of cake in my mouth thinking it was egg omelet. I spit it out (my wife was horrified) but I think I did ingest some of it. On Sunday morning I felt pretty rough and thought it might be because I stayed up a couple of hours past my normal bed time. We went out shopping in the morning, and then came home for lunch. After lunch I felt pretty crappy and took a 1 hour crash nap. Sunday night I got a good solid sleep, and on Monday I felt pretty good. First day in months I didn't need a nap. (I have a fatigue issue that I haven't figured out yet.) Then on Tuesday (today) I again felt pretty crappy. I struggled through work and needed another 1 hour crash nap. And more naps after that. I also had a pretty loose BM, which is something that has become a lot more rare since cutting out all gluten. My question is, can the effects of a glutening be variable over time, with good days and bad days? Or did I somehow get glutened a second time yesterday? Or maybe it's something else altogether, I might have reactivated EBV, and I might have ME/CFS too. I haven't been diagnosed as celiac, but I'm definitely sensitive to gluten. (I'm going to do the gene tests first before trying a gluten challenge in a couple of months. Not looking forward to eating gluten every day.) TIA, Marcel

This is my first post here. I’ve looked at the website on and off for years, but could never get myself to join. I was diagnosed with Celiac disease when I was 6 years old. They noticed I was extremely malnourished and super thin, so they did some tests. Following that, they did a biopsy which confirmed what they suspected. My mother took to it right away. She was very strict about it. Same with my maternal grandparents, as they had my Grandmama (great grandma), who was diagnosed with celiac later on in her life. My paternal side, not so much. From my diagnosis to around 11 years old, they didn’t believe my diagnosis and therefore, did not follow my diet. I was sick constantly as a kid. Going further, it was hard to maintain the diet and the urges. The longest I’ve ever made it with no gluten was just over a year. It’s hard not to notice the connection between my binges and my depressive episodes. I’m now 18 and still struggle immensely with my relationship with food. I feel the symptoms and they get worse with every binge but I can’t seem to stop myself. I have been well aware of all the medical issues both life threatening and chronic, but it seemed to fuel my guilt and harmful thoughts. I am terrified now that all the issues I have currently were caused by my lack of self preservation. After years of balancing medications and going to therapy, I’m finally able to acknowledge the pain I’ve caused myself. I wish to speak to my family doctor about this but I’m also afraid of the judgement. Even worse than that, I am terrified she won’t believe me. So, how do I strictly follow my diet when the urge is stronger than protecting myself? How do I bring this up to my doctor? Christopher
