I was diagnosed with Celiac this summer.  Having to buy only "certified" foods is new to me because last year when I started avoiding gluten, I could still eat some things and be fine.  I am learning as my symptoms intensify what I can and cannot handle.

You don't have to buy only " certified gluten-free" foods. Just oats.

Oh! Okay.  I might just steer clear of them now anyway.  This experience has been quite the eye opener.

Good Morning Lexi-

You do not need to worry about a certified gluten-free label if you are not buying processed foods.  Your system needs a break and to be treated with care -- that means whole foods with occasional gluten-free processed items as a rare treat.  Many of us have responded to you in this and other threads with this same message.

Stop looking for things that will fix the daily change in your bowels and start eating whole foods:  Meat, Veggies, Fruit, Rice, Potatoes...go to the grocery store with or without your Father and stock up on whole foods -- eat them for a solid week and then go back to restock.   After a few weeks of giving your system the break it needs I think you will be feeling much better -- limiting gluten is not being gluten-free.  Eating from gluten-free menus from restaurants without researching how they prepare their food is not living gluten-free and you will not improve....tiny amounts of gluten will keep your immune system in crisis.

Something else to consider is you mentioned you have not had issue at school.  Now that your system seems to have become tuned in to the gluten you are consuming Cross Contamination may become an issue at school when it has not.  Take what is left of this summer to truly learn what it means to be completely gluten-free...not just avoiding foods that "bother" you so that you will be clear headed and ready to take on the new semester.

I'm fairly sure we have given you the "Newbie 101" thread to read....don't just read it...study, make flash cards - do whatever you need to do to learn all the facts posted there.  If you can't find it - ask here...I'm on the wrong computer and don't have the link at my finger tips.

Good Luck to you :)

Hi Scott, yes I have had symptoms for years and this is the second GI I have seen and he could not believe I have never been tested. He called later today and I am scheduled for an endoscopy. Is there a way to tell how severe my potential celiac is from the results above? What are the chances I will have the biopsy and come back negative and we have to keep searching for a cause?

I agree christina, there is definitely many contributing factors! I have the pain today, my pelvis, hips and thighs ache! No idea why. But i have been sitting at work for 3 days so im thinking its my back. This disease is very mysterious (and frustrating) but not always to blame for every pain.

"her stool study showed she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that." The wording of this part of the sentence does not make any sense at all. I don't mean to insult you, but is English your first language? This part of the sentence sounds like it was generated by translation software.

What kind of stool test was done? Can you be more specific?

Perhaps I should also have said that in addition to showing a very high response to gluten, her stool study showed that she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that.
