My birthday is coming up and nobody makes gluten free cakes where I am from. I was wondering if anyone has any gluten free cake recipes that they have tried that tastes some what like a birthday cake . Even a boxed cake mix that they tried that tastes good.

I think different people have different ideas of what exactly birthday cake is. A birthday cake can be any kind of cake you want, just served for a birthday. If you give us an idea of exactly what kind of cake you mean, we may be able to help point you in a helpful direction. That said, I've never been disappointed by a Hodgson Mill mix. Pancakes, cakes, brownies, doesn't matter. Every one I have tried has been superb and they're surprisingly cheap compared to others.

I have tried the betty crocker yellow cake mix and the devils food cake mix.  Liked them both.  Haven't tried any others, I try to avoid making cake because I eat it all at once... haha!

King Arthur  Flour  has  a  yellow  cake  mix  & a  chocolate  one which  both  are  very good.... If  you Google  the type  of  cake  you like I.e.----- Boston  cream, chocolate, German chocolate  ow  whatever  & add  gluten free  you will  get  hundreds  of  recipes...

I /we  love  the  white  cake  from Baking  Classics  from Annalise Roberts...

Our go-to birthday cake is Bobs Red Mill Chocolate mix with one cup of choc chips added.

For frosting we use canned in a hurry or

2 cups choc chips

1 can sweetened condensed milk

2 tsp vanilla

Heat over lowest stovetop temp until smooth...frost immediately :)

Other favs are vanilla cake, lemon cake or strawberry cake....let me know if you'd like one of those

Happy Birthday!

This chocolate mayonnaise cake is to die for.....sub wheat flour with Pamela's gluten-free blend with guar gum (or Xanthan gum). I use my own buttercream chocolate frosting. Gluten eaters adore it! Makes great cupcakes that freeze well.

It is....I usually just frost the tops of layers with it....you can frost the sides, but kind of a pain and not necessary because it is very rich.

I like to use a Glutino Double Fudge Brownie mix along with:

1/2 -2/3 c flax meal

1/2 -1 tsp baking powder

1/2 c Vega One chocolate protein powder (optional)

just over 1/3 c melted butter or coconut oil

4-5 eggs

375F for 20-25 minutes for cupcakes. About 30 min-45 min for a cake.

My boys also love angel food cake for birthdays.
