I'm looking for a gluten-free gochujang paste, a korean pepper paste sold in tubs. They all have wheat listed except for one brand. It lists seed malt as an ingredient. What the heck is seed malt? Naturally the word malt scares me but the allergen list just says soy. I know the translation of asian product ingredients sometimes gets mixed up. Does anyone know what seed malt is?

This is the most useful information I could find. It sounds like they're specifying it isn't barley malt? Not a whole lot of particularly useful, fast and easy to find info on seed malt. I did see one company post on facebook about it that they made it from rice. I doubt every company does though, I imagine it could be from plenty of types of seeds. http://criticalmas.com/2013/11/commercial-gluten-free-gochujang-now-available/

Seed malt is apparently an umbrella term and it includes some seeds like barley which will be a gluten problem. That MAY be broken down in the fermentation, depending on the cultures they use. But without testing and certification? You are rolling the dice.

      Trying to read my lab results

      Hi Scott, yes I have had symptoms for years and this is the second GI I have seen and he could not believe I have never been tested. He called later today and I am scheduled for an endoscopy. Is there a way to tell how severe my potential celiac is from the results above? What are the chances I will have the biopsy and come back negative and we have to keep...

      Constant low back, abdominal and pelvic pain!

      I agree christina, there is definitely many contributing factors! I have the pain today, my pelvis, hips and thighs ache! No idea why. But i have been sitting at work for 3 days so im thinking its my back. This disease is very mysterious (and frustrating) but not always to blame for every pain.

      Perhaps I should also have said that in addition to showing a very high response to gluten, her stool study showed that she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that.
