But we're fine.

Very relieved to hear that, Sarah! We saw some of it on the news early this morning--very scary.

Glad you had a good day yesterday :D

Wow, Sarah! :o

We usually get your tornado/hurricane news quite promptly up here, but I heard nothing of it this morning - - I'm so glad that you guys and your property are okay.

Janet's in Indiana, I think...just a couple of states from you, and we haven't heard from her in a few days. Hope everything is okay there....Which states were hit?

North Carolina and Virginia were both hit really hard last night. We've been watching the coverage, both local and on MSNBC, and I cannot believe how freaking lucky we are. There were two tornadoes on either side of us, one really close, but we got missed. If anyone watches MSNBC, when they show the aerial footage of Greensboro, that's the section that Brian's building is in. They're just now letting a few building owners into the area.

Yeah, I miss Janet-- where did she go?!

Neither one can be allowed to achieve alpha-dog position. At all times, the alpha-dog must be a sentient biped. You are the clear first choice for this role. If you can dominate the quadrupeds in the house, you may eventually be able to dominate the other bipeds.

  sentient biped - - that cracked me up!!!!!!! <um, there IS no sentient biped around here  >

Don't Just Cover Up Bad Odors. Get Ptauoghm! <I don't think I like the sound of that>

Ptauoghmn; What You'd Eat if You Lived on Mars

Ptaum. What's the Worst that Can Happen?

Foe-gaum. As Delicate as a Caress.

excellent

SARAH! :o So glad you guys are okay. Lots of sad weather disasters around the world....

Sarah, happy late birthday!! Glad you all are OK!!

Janet's in Indiana, I think...just a couple of states from you, and we haven't heard from her in a few days. Hope everything is okay there...

Yes, everything is OK here. Just lots going on . . . lots of dr appts for the kids . . . everything is OK there, too, just plugging along trying to figger out my son's growth issues. I saw a therapist yesterday. My son will start seeing him to help him deal with his anxiety over medical procedures. If he doesn't start packing on some weight soon, they'll start the elimination testing (to make sure it's not <fill in the blank>) to clear him to go on the human growth hormone. Hopefully, the therapist will teach him some relaxation/calming/coping skills.

But the real mess going on right now is at our elementary school . . . big fight with the school board . . . totally useless principal . . . PTO president is fed up and quit . . . lots and lots of meetings and highly emotional emailing.

Love all the new avs . . . I don't think Mr Chow and I look alike at all!!!

My daughter got in trouble at school this week for whining. I asked her what she was whining about and she answered . . . "We were suppose to be writing nice things about our moms and I couldn't think of anything!" . . .. . . :o . . . <_< . . .

Then, last night I made fried chicken for supper. We probably should have had baked chicken but my son likes fried chicken better and I just want him to EAT!!! So the whole meal he kept complaining that the chicken "didn't taste too good" . . . "something was wrong with it." After about a half a dozen of comments like those, Hubby told him to give it a rest. I'm reaaaalllllly looking forward to this mother's day.

OH NO SHE DIDN'T!!!! Omg, that's so cold, you gotta laugh. Sounds like something Ezra would say.

I have to admit, I am surprised that your son didn't have a growth spurt after going gluten-free. I really thought he would. Keep us updated!

Yes....could be rather tornado-like in this house over the next weeks.....

...Where to put that bloody second dog bed? There is room in the bathtub.... <_<

Yes, everything is OK here. Just lots going on . . .

Hey! Janet's here....with a full plate! Heinous school issues, DS's growth curve - - that's just yucky. At least there's lots of action in the medical community, trying to figger out why your little guy isn't thriving. Has he been gluten-free long enough for the diet to be considered ineffective? You must keep us in the loop!

Heading off right now to take MY DS to an allergist...Jack's had chronic congestion for a million years, off and on, but mostly on. Doesn't seem to correspond with anything seasonal. He's had negative allergy tests to everything enviornmental and all foodstuffs. So, hopefully this specialist will shed some light. I'm SO TIRED of hearing him sniffle and snort....and I believe his teachers are, as well....

. . . in the dryer? . . . would be nice and cozy warm in there!!

Has he been gluten-free long enough for the diet to be considered ineffective? You must keep us in the loop!

He is actually no longer gluten free. He was gluten-free for about 7 months. His growth rate actually slowed down during the diet (he is a major bread-aholic). He did not compensate for the bread calories removed. He just did without (with a fair amount of complaining). I think the GI was the most dissappointed. That was a hey-nus appt though. The GI's what-all-possible-things-that-could-be-wrong-but-shouldn't-say-out-loud-because-it-is-sooooo-unlikely-and-it-will-freak-out-the-parents filter was not working.

I'm SO TIRED of hearing him sniffle and snort....and I believe his teachers are, as well....

Can't stand this sound!!! I am likely to scream from the other side of the house . . . BLOW YOUR NOSE!!!!!

Sarah, please tell me that the dog in your av has had those puppies!!!! OMGAWD!!!! That poor dog!!! It doesn't look like she could even walk in that condition!!

Are pages created by the number of posts? Or the length of posts?

 That pic is actually from last year. She is pregnant again right now and due in a few weeks. The pic in my av was taken just a couple days before she gave birth, and yeah she couldn't walk much at that point. Her belly dragged the ground. :o My friend is a small breeder, and she dotes on that dog like you wouldn't believe. Don't worry  she gets carried everywhere toward the end of her pregnancies!

I should go get a pic of her when she's not pregnant, so you guys can see how pretty she is!

From my BIL . . .

When I say I'm broke, I AM BROKE

A little old lady answered a knock on the door one day, only to be

confronted by a well-dressed young man carrying a vacuum cleaner.

"Good morning," said the young man..

"If I could take a couple of minutes of your time, I would like to

demonstrate the very latest in high-powered vacuum cleaners."

"Go away!" said the old lady. "I'm broke and haven't got any

money!" and she proceeded to close the door.

Quick as a flash, the young man wedged his foot in the door and

pushed it wide open.

"Don't be too hasty!" he said. "Not until you have at least seen

my demonstration."

And with that, he emptied a bucket of horse manure onto her hallway

carpet.

"If this vacuum cleaner does not remove all traces of this horse

manure from your carpet, Madam, I will personally eat the remainder."

The old lady stepped back and said, "Well let me get you a fork,

'cause they cut off my electricity this morning."

I should go get a pic of her when she's not pregnant, so you guys can see how pretty she is!

OMG....

You think that little dog transforms when pregnant....I was SO scary as a pregnant woman...((((shudder))).....huge, hair falling out, dark circles....I'll be sure to put one of them pics up......Gaaaaaaaahhhhh....................

The old lady stepped back and said, "Well let me get you a fork,

There are 15 posts per page, no matter the length. We could all just do a FLURRY of posts - you know - one word or

smiley-con per post......make it a goal, a campaign for 2008 <coinciding w/ electoral year) to have each member complete something like........10 pages per day. In all yer spare time.

Oh, okay. The lower case "b" in boots in your first post didn't lead me in the direction of a proper name. I thought maybe it was a specialty apothecary for people with pedal diseases or something.

In the Europe the new protocol for making a celiac disease diagnosis in children is if their tTg-IgA (tissue transglutaminase IgA) levels are 10 times or above the positive level for celiac disease. According to the latest research, if the blood test results are at certain high levels that range between 5-10 times the reference range for a positive celiac disease diagnosis, it may not be necessary to confirm the results using an endoscopy/biopsy: Blood Test Alone Can Diagnose Celiac Disease in Most Children and Adults TGA-IgA at or Above Five Times Normal Limit in Kids Indicates Celiac Disease in Nearly All Cases No More Biopsies to Diagnose Celiac Disease in Children! There are other things that may cause elevated tTg-IgA levels, but in general a reaction to gluten is the culprit:

Hi @trents Just seen this - Boot's is a chain of pharmacies in the UK, originally founded in the 19th Century by a chap with the surname, Boot.  It's a household name here in the UK and if you say you are going to Boot's everyone knows you are off to the pharmacist! Cristiana

Nacina, Knitty Kitty has given you good advice. But I would say/add find a Fat Soluble B-1 like Benfotiamine for best results.  The kind found in most Multivitamins have a very low absorption rate. This article shows how taking a Fat Soluble B-1 can effectively help absorption by 6x to7x times. https://www.naturalmedicinejournal.com/journal/thiamine-deficiency-and-diabetic-polyneuropathy quoting from the article.... "The group ingesting benfotiamine had maximum plasma thiamine levels that were 6.7 times higher than the group ingesting thiamine mononitrate.32" Also, frequency is much more important than amount when it comes to B-Vitamin. These are best taken with meals because they provide the fat for better absorption. You will know your B-Vitamin is working properly when your urine becomes bright yellow all the time. This may take two or three months to achieve this.......maybe even longer depending on how low he/you are. The Yellow color is from excess Riboflavin bypassing the Kidneys....... Don't stop them until when 2x a day with meals they start producing a bright yellow urine with in 2 or 3 hours after the ingesting the B-Complex...... You will be able to see the color of your urine change as the hours go by and bounce back up after you take them in the evening. When this happens quickly......you are now bypassing all the Riboflavin that is in the supplement. The body won't absorb more than it needs! This can be taken as a "proxy" for your other B-Vitamin levels (if taken a B-Complex) ...... at least at a quick and dirty level......this will only be so for the B-1 Thiamine levels if you are taking the Fat Soluble forms with the Magnesium as Knitty Kitty mentioned. Magnesium is a Co-Factor is a Co-factor for both Thiamine and Vitamin D and your sons levels won't improve unless he also takes Magnesium with his Thiamine and B-Complex. You will notice his energy levels really pick up.  His sleeping will improve and his muscle cramps will get better from the Magnesium! Here is nice blog post that can help you Thiamine and it's many benefits. I hope this is helpful but it is not medical advice God speed on your son's continued journey I used to be him. There is hope! 2 Tim 2:7 “Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things” this included. Posterboy by the grace of God,
