me either. I think how people determine "funny" would be a fascinating study. I love how varied our perceptions are.

Volunteers, ah, yes.

I volunteered for the job of moderator. I was a volunteer when I offered. Once my offer was accepted, I knew I had taken on an obligation to do a job.

I was a volunteer with Scouts Canada for decades. For much of that time I was engaged in training and management of other volunteers. At the peak of my involvement I was the Commissioner of a council with well over 10,000 members and had over 300 team members reporting directly or indirectly to me. Every member of my team was a volunteer who had agreed to do a job. Once they agreed, they were expected and, indeed, obligated, to fulfill the commitment. If they did not do so, they were replaced or dropped.

A volunteer does not receive remuneration for the work done. But if you volunteer to do something, there is, in my view, a clear obligation to do what you committed to do. It does not mean you might do it if you get around to it one of these days.

That is my take on volunteerism.

Who said that? :lol:

It has been a very busy week with no time at all to come onto the board, but I'm back. There are too many pages to go back right now and read to catch up. I should have time on Sunday.

B) Wasn't thinking of you, Lisa, unless you have been secretly deep fried. :lol:

Yeah, my alter ego is spicy and covered in oil! :D

(......didn't think I should hijack the other thread to continue this conversation!)

BTW.......for those of you sitting there like this :huh::unsure::blink::ph34r: .......another new thread asking about fries, to which Peter made a comment about curly fries.

I just couldn't resist clarifying that THIS curlyfry IS gluten free!

Give me a break.......I'm trying, here!!!!! :rolleyes:

Very dedicated of you to postpone your bedtime to cheer the sillies.

Well, I made a brilliant discovery yesterday, worth sharing with the world.

If you wear pants with the zipper on the side (very difficult to operate under pressure) DON"T DRINK FOUR CUPS OF TEA!

Gads. Next time I wear those pants I'm gonna pre-dehydrate myself so I don't have to go through that much stress again.

Morning, Gang!

Jack is away at Cub Camp, in the lovely woods of Fitzroy Harbour on the southern outskirts of Ottawa. It is pouring rain. .. . .. ... :unsure: . . . . and they are all in tents.........

:lol::lol:

This is true. . . . .. ..my fear with these pants is not in the unzipping, put in the zipping up - - I often catch a hunk of my hip (lovely visual, to be sure) in the zipper as I'm stretching long and pulling it up. . . . .

I grab the zipper, take a deep breath, and the earwax skyrockets. . . . . . . .. :rolleyes:

One word......MUD!!!!!

My eldest used to go Scout camps.....always bloomin' rained (a fair bet in Blighty :rolleyes: )

Welly boots and rain jackets were essential...but he used to have a FAB time :D (as I'm sure the ripper will :) )

:lol::lol:

:lol::lol:

I am quite unlucky with zips .......

Got meself trapped in a pair of side zippers once :rolleyes:

Earwax was indeed being produced in copious amounts as I wriggled and grunted and sweated and (even) tried the old trick of laying supine on the bed whilst hoiking the blasted thing up.... or down .....to no avail <_<

.....had to cut my way out with scissors <scary business :o >

OMG!!...this reminds me of just last week 'jeans shopping'

Tried some on in the changing room....one pair seems to have a 'sticky' zip

MYGAAAWD...couldn't get the bugger down :huh:

Trapped in a TK Maxx changing room, temperature seemed as if it were 100F as I wondered how the heck I was gonna get the jeans off :o :sweatywideeyedface:

After 5 mins trying to do it nicely, I fell into panick mode......... I YANKED & ripped the zip down (breaking it).......put 'em back on the hanger and calmy walked out....FAST!!!! :ph34r::lol:

<I've bought some 'button fly BTW :rolleyes: >

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH!!!

See, this is funny, because my rather wide hips prefer pants that have side zips, a lot of businesswear front-zips look wrong on me because I guess I'm overly woman shaped. (Extreme hip-to-waist ratio) So when I find a pair I look decent in I tend to wear them to death, and my side-zip for work are starting to trap me occasionally, the zipper's become almost completely destroyed. It's been 5 yrs, I think it's time to reinvest....... I no longer feel it when I catch my hip. The nerves on that side have been destroyed.

:lol::lol: Yep! Big guffaws, there. And Jerry Stiller. . . . . just too much. . . . . . :lol:

Back to the hospital? Bah! Bevel. . . . .... ..'tis horrid. :angry: How long do they estimate you'll have this lovely thing snaking through yer upper body this time? 'Tis truly horrid, and b@#$%$#%, and crapola . .. . . . .....

I am having supper tonight over at my best friend's place. We have been close buddies literally all our lives - - grew up two doors apart, have always lived in the city, shared everything.

About ten years ago, after she'd had her two boys, she and her family found out that her mom (also very close to our family) had Huntington's disease. :(:( The kids have a fifty-fifty chance of developing this horrific brain-wasting affliction, and if they have it, their kids have a fifty-fifty chance, and so on. My buddy tested positive a couple of years ago. I see the creeping, developing effects starting to manifest themselves... . her speech, memory. . ....... . .So I try to see her regularly, and help where I can. . .. .

Very unsilly!! But it is a happy time when we're together.. . . . .. :)

      Hi Scott, yes I have had symptoms for years and this is the second GI I have seen and he could not believe I have never been tested. He called later today and I am scheduled for an endoscopy. Is there a way to tell how severe my potential celiac is from the results above? What are the chances I will have the biopsy and come back negative and we have to keep searching for a cause?
    • Aussienae
      I agree christina, there is definitely many contributing factors! I have the pain today, my pelvis, hips and thighs ache! No idea why. But i have been sitting at work for 3 days so im thinking its my back. This disease is very mysterious (and frustrating) but not always to blame for every pain.
    • trents
      "her stool study showed she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that." The wording of this part of the sentence does not make any sense at all. I don't mean to insult you, but is English your first language? This part of the sentence sounds like it was generated by translation software.
    • trents
      What kind of stool test was done? Can you be more specific?
    • mishyj
      Perhaps I should also have said that in addition to showing a very high response to gluten, her stool study showed that she had extreme reactions to everything achievement on it long course of microbials to treat that.
