Something Martha Steward Did

I just wanted to mention last week I was watching Martha Steward and she was demonstrating how to clean your kitchen and appliances. When she came to the coffee grinder she showed how you just put a slice of bread in it and run it for a few seconds and it cleans the inside by sort of wiping it clean. So warning now you can't just go over to the neighbors for coffee thinking your safe.

I sometimes feel like I'm nosey because I have to ask so many questions. :P

And we wonder where our mystery glutenings come from .... ... people who use bread to clean their kitchen with!!

My BIL babysat our kids last weekend ... when I opened the freezer yesterday, there's a frozen pizza in there!! Yikes, time to turn the self-cleaner on in the oven and do a scrub down around here ... no telling where there are crumbs!

OMG I had completely forgotten about the Chickenman show. It was on Detroit rock stations in the morning when I walked to school in the mid 60's. Is that the one you are referring to?

Richard love the new "do". I found the pensive stare riveting.

We need to mail Martha and tell her she has inspired a new expression, "this is NOT a good thing".

Random thought here (what else  )

I was just imagining Martha on Iron Chef...I can see her futzing around with her apron telling the story of the origins of the great pagan feast she is about to prepare - and then time is up. She has to be escorted from the stage because she attempts to assault Alton Brown with the "mystery ingredient". She ends up back in prison because the assault conviction violates the the terms of her probation...we can dream can't we? :P

I beg your pardon, but please note the beard. Said "chicken" is actually a turkey. (in honor of TURKEY day - I'm not quite as random as you might think :P ) Flog ON!

BTW - Who actually cleans their coffee grinder anyway?

That's the one! Believe it or not, in hubby's record collection we have an LP of Chickenman ... the first episode where he becomes Chickenman! It's hysterical.:lol:

Richard, chicken, turkey ... hard to tell the difference when a grown man is dressed as poultry.

since you brought up alton brown, he's the one that suggested you should clean out your meat grinder with, you guessed it, bread! I guess I should just use gluten-free bread?!?!

now, really, I'd LOVE to see Alton do an eposode on gluten-free cooking and the chemistry behind our alternative starches an the advantages of guar gum vs xantham.

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: you guys are too funny.

I did watch Altons show earlier this week on how to make the perfect gravey. He says the only way is with FLOUR cough cough. I guess some of the vegetable sources make you gravey clear and not as appealing.

Well Alton never is sitting on the toilee for 2 hrs. (we can be so rude)

Welcome to the forum, @LimpToeTheTimeless Bone growth plates close in the late teens to early twenties, so it's doubtful you'll grow much taller, but you may start to bulk up in muscle.  Remember to boost your absorption of vitamins and minerals needed to build muscle by eating a nutritionally dense diet and supplementing with essential vitamins and minerals, especially Thiamine B1, to counteract the malabsorption caused by Celiac Disease. Keep us posted on your progress! Fermentation breaks down some of the gluten in wheat. Nowhere enough for a wheat dough to become gluten free, but the gluten may be significantly reduced. I think some pizzerias make the dough the day before and leave it overnight. The longer the microbes are acting on the flour, the better.

I am M 21 and I diagnosed myself after a week of fasting and slowly reintroducing stuff in my diet except gluten, I had terrible eczema scars ,dandruff and brain fog, now I am free after 6 years of just pain, I am 6'2, will I grow taller? And since I am a gymnast will my muscles grow like quicker, cause before no matter how effort I put in I just couldn't.

And the fact is, no two celiacs will necessarily respond the same to gluten exposure. Some are "silent" celiacs and don't experience obvious symptoms. But that doesn't mean no harm is being done to their gut. It just means it is subclinical.
