Gluten Free Trial

Because of mixed results (positive IGG (110), IGA (44), negative TTG, and inconclusive biopsy, I have been on a gluten free trial for the past 3 weeks. AFter the trial I am suppose to have my bloodwork done again and see if my IGG and IGA levels have changed. My question is how long should I be on gluten free before having my bloodwork retaken? My doc. says 4 weeks and I was just wondering if you guys have a different opinion. Thanks:)

It depends. If you've got a lot of intestinal damage (and symptoms can't tell you if you do or not, for the most part) then 4 weeks isn't long enough. If you don't have a lot of damage, it might be. I'd wait at least 12, but that's me. You could also do a gluten challenge after those 4 weeks (after the blood test, if it's already scheduled) and have something that's just wheat (like cream of wheat or bulgar - not bread because there are other potential issues with that like yeast and eggs) and see how you feel.
