Hellooooo,

Can a person on gluten-free diet be allergic to "Wheat Flour"(NOT gluten-free) just by working with it?

Because yeasterday I was making some pastry (not for me) , and of course working with wheat... There was no reason for me to have urticaria a lot in my hands, so, is it possible for wheat (NOT gluten-free) to cause such a thing???

Pls help...

Azza, :(

Azza, You did not say you are a Celiac. If you are and are also allergic or have dermatitis herpetiformis, then you could certainly have a skin reaction to wheat flour. I have both the allergy and the dermatitis and was only diagnosed about 3 years ago with Celiac after 50 years of being considered a hypochondriac by allergists, dermatologists and my internal medicine doctors. Finally after being diagnosed because of a TV program on Celiac, I understand why I had all of these strange symptoms and how I suffered unnecessarily for all of those years. Yes, it is possible to have a reaction to wheat flour on the skin, I have had it many times. Shirley
