Thank you so much....was nice to finally hear your voice as well.

I had a crappy couple of days of health with no apparent source -- but today is different -- I woke up with little pain and in a fantastic mood -- it's my birthday and the first one that I haven't felt like s$#& in over ten years!!

It is also bike to work day -- since i have no official job yet -- I took a long route to see Mom and hit four "pit stops" - picked up several tshirts, sd bike route maps, water bottles, green tea, oranges, clif and mojo bars for the honey, chapstick, pencils and tube repair kits -- was having entirely too much fun...felt like a kid trick or treating on a bicycle....got side tracked so stopped back in home for an ice pack and will head out to see Mom now with another out of the way route to hit two more pit stops and pick up the $25 gift card from a somewhat nearby grocery store that I won at the recent celiac awareness tour.

Dinner will be grilled chicken salad with yummy fruits and vegies while I watch the new Star Trek -- boys will have popcorn and hubby is sampling the upscale glutenous concessions to give celiac son - that is a new employee there - a report so that said son can be a bit more animated about his opinion of the gluten options when asked by patrons.

Every day is a gift. No guarantees. Suck the life out of every day, peeps.

That said, the hubs has asked for special pizza tonight and he's gonna get it. And the pizza too.

*snicker*

Wacky schedules have led to dinner plans not at all going as planned lately. I was under the impression last night that the class I was covering was over sooner than it was, so my husband microwaved a pizza before I was home. We are trying the burgers and fries thing again tonight. I'll be home when he gets here, there is nothing lurking in the fridge and I am staying away from stores so I don't buy food I shouldn't. Really... we're having burgers tonight. I mean it this time.

Bahaha, I kept reading farther and farther going omg that is SO not on the list! Have fun. :D You're so lucky that we all live so far away or it would be a regular house party!

My husband is working until 10 tonight. I may just grill a chicken breast and tell him to bring a bagged salad home. That would involve a little cheating myself because I have a brand new bottle of Brianna's ranch to crack open and there isn't a snowball's chance in hell I'm having a salad without ranch if there is a bottle of it in the house I can have. Ranch is one of my very serious weaknesses.

Brianna's vinaigrette with the strawberry on the bottle, has become our favorite thanks to your suggestion. I try not to look at the other flavors. But I figure that, even if your salad has as many calories as a Big Mac is also has a lot more fiber and vitamins than one.

That one is good too! And the champagne one! Actually, I've never tried one I didn't like. I just got so excited when I found dressing without crap in it that I started buying all the "safe" ones.

I want it all...and I want it NOW!  just teasing...I do want it all and wish I could pop over....taking a break from studying...edited something out as a few of my classmates know I'm on here....lol

Off to hit several grocery stores as our fridge and cupboards are a bit bare -- well bare for our house -- and then take care of a problem at my Mom's -- not sure what is for dinner...probably food ;)

Ok...there is a way to mess up the easy upside down cake.....

use round cake pans that have a bottom that is removable -- doh!  at least my kitchen smells like carmel this morning -- not going to be fun to clean out the oven -- will have to wait until later -- off to cram a bit more and play taxi driver.

Happy Monday All :)

Happy but tired today, doing volunteering work, proving to myself I can work soon. Daughter fell asleep at 5.30, so expect to be up about 3 am. Life is never dull :)

Aaaaaand this is why there's aluminum foil covering the bottom rack in my oven :D

Aaaaaand this is why there's aluminum foil covering the bottom rack in my oven :D

There should be in mine. It's just that someone always thinks it is there for some nefarious purpose I guess and takes it out. The pineapple upside down cake my husband made for his mother on Mother's Day is still smoking on the bottom of the oven. It is entirely possible I handed him my old springform.

So I am subbing today for a full day and my husband has to leave the house at 2:30 to go to work. That is the same time the afternoon class is over so I won't see him until he gets home at like 10:30. I have been trying all day to talk myself out of going to In N Out on my way home for my dinner. So far after 6 hours I have been unsuccessful. It isn't especially hot here today but I just am really feeling like a vanilla shake.

Um.... well.... its like this... your milkshake didn't make it home. It was delicious though!

Driving past the place on my way home is not at all conducive to making it home without fast food.  I guess it was a burger kind of day here too!

    • If she was just tested for DQ2 or DQ8 then it isn't for sure that she will never develop celiac.  There are other genes that have been found to be associated but not all doctors are aware. The gene I have a double copy of, DQ9, is one example.  Here is one research article but more can be found for those interested.  Evidence that HLA-DQ9 confers risk to celiac disease by presence of DQ9-restricted gluten-specific T cells http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0198885912000262
    • Well, thank you for replying. Yes, I would also like to know and have a certain "validation" but I will go on to eat gluten free.  Thank you for the idea of keeping a food diary.  I was keeping one for weight loss, but I guess my primary focus will be gluten-free as well.  I'm sorry you had to eat gluten just to find out both tests were negative. That was disappointing, I can only imagine.
    • Thank you everyone. Jmg & cycling lady sorry for being snippy . I appreciate your help just frustrated. sorry if I am a bit snippy. Not well as you sense. I hate this particular symptom/ reaction. The gluten challenge opened the door to a bunch of  symptoms I buried for 3 1/2 gluten-free years that I had no intention of waking again. I now know it's always been immune and food, but get frustrated over the the amount of time it has not been diagnosed it feels unjust and that most Dr still don't get it 38 years later.  It was reborn after my gluten challenge and I am beyond sad we discovered my DS has this too. As we removed my allergens from the house and my DS was off the foods, if he ate something at school or a friends (because we just removed it for mom) we quickly found and he that he's like mom. He looks like dads mini me but more handsome, but has moms food issues -yikes.  His ped Dr would not test him for celiac or refer him and does not understand food intolerances vs IgE allergies. when we ask for a prescription for allergen free Advil or Tylenol ( I found a compounding  pharamacy willing to work with us) he had ortho work done , she tells us she does not know how to write a prescription for that.   We really don't like reactions and it did say 100 percent juice and quite frankly we believed it.  The histamine  definetly a potential issue as sulphites does not seem consistent food diary wise. I am not sure what is going on. More likely we are celiacs with leaky guts manifesting as food sensitivities trying to heal. I just know I have more intolerances then when I went in. I went into the challenge not being able to eat gluten and came out with all heck breaking lose.  I quit my PT job so I can Prep and cook from scratch entirely growing all my own herbs etc trying to heal. My husband actually enjoys our food even more and tolerates the "woman he married being gone and replaced by this alien" my words not his. He does want me to heal, believes I will, so he can have his wife back. I question if I just have to accept who I am now. I am disheartened that it's slow to heal and despite my years of this undiagnosed garbage I can't get my son the help he needs in 2017! thanks for letting me rant. It was stupid to believe a processed juice maker I'm waiting to activate my water kefir colony so we can add something to our homemade almond milk and water options.   thanks for letting me rant and why do I still have to rant.   maybe the 43 years of frustration and anger of being an undiagnosed celiac.   so sorry y'all. Cranky few days
    • My daughter did not test positive for celiac (6 week gluten challenge after being gluten free for 2 months).  So she is technically NCGS. One of her worst symptoms is leg pain. It was a chronic problem when she was 7, to the point where she could no longer play soccer. At 8 we went gluten free because of GI issues and the leg pain went away. It came back with the gluten challenge and again went away when we went off gluten for good after testing. If she gets glutened, that is one of the tell-tale symptoms. She has had to use crutches because the pain is so bad.  And when glutened, the pain usually lasts about 3 days.
    • Thanks raven and awol--I think she will feel much better hearing that these pains could be due to her celiac.  I don't know about the Epsom salts-never asked-so I definitely will.  I think further compounding it right now is that the doctor did not want her to take ibuprofen for 7 days before the procedure and not sure if Tylenol is allowed but she can't take it because it messes with the continuous glucose monitor that she wears.  Only 4 more days.   I will try to see if my primary can or will run a full celiac panel for me.  Left him a message asking why he didn't test my immunoglobulin a and whether we should be running the full panel.  I have encouraged my husband to test as well--he did just have a colonoscopy and endoscopy last fall--looking for other things but would they have been able to see celiac if there?  He has bad acid reflux and they were just doing the colonoscopy since he turned 50.  My other daughter-who has Hashimoto's-was genetically tested for celiac through Prometheus labs about 6 years ago due to our family history of autoimmune and she was having bad stomach issues--that came back negative.  So I think (hope) she's good?
