    • The Bakery On Main story began in the back of Owner, Michael Smulders' Natural Food Store in Glastonbury, CT.     • I used to drink Guinness, sometimes a half-n-half over Harp or Bass. I call Sam Adams a good light beer, and probably gave up on Budwiper and the like 30 years ago. So while it is nice to find companies making lots of "Yeah, that almost tastes like cheapo beer"....There's not a one of them that can touch Sam Adams, let alone Guinness. (Yeah, I know, I shouldn't call them all "beer" but then again, I'm a barbarian.) Haven't found any commercially made mead, that's beer's grandpa, and IT is gluten free. No wheat, barley, or hops involved. Redbridge...well...it almost tastes like Bud as I remember it. I give AB kudos just for trying, even if they don't know what beer is.(G)
    • Megan-  I am not Catholic but I owe my gluten awareness to whoever was the Pope in 2004. There was a BIG piece in the national nooze media about some Roman Catholic girl in NJ who had celiac. Her parents were told by her priest and bishop that she should take the communion wafer anyway, and the parents appealed for Papal Dispensation not to take it because of the allergy. The Pope responded, and said the wafer transmogrifies and becomes the body of Christ, so there is no wheat once she take communion. That's a foundation of the Church and no, she can't get dispensation from that. (Episcopalians apparently have a rice cracker as an alternative.) I happened to hear that news on a weekend when all I had had was Melba toast and I said to myself "DING! WHEAT! CELIAC!" and if the Pope hadn't been such an inflexible man...it wouldn't have been nooze and I wouldn't have made the connection. I understand the current Pope is much more reasonable, and would urge you to literally apply for Papal Dispensation. He's the only one who can grant it to you. Otherwise, if you are following a religion that insists you commit regular medical harm to your own body, you may have to rethink exactly which organized religion does or doesn't work with your choice of Gods. Take it to the top man. I think this one will be clever enough to find a solution for you.   Lyfan
    • ....yeah that is the sad story of many of us...I think I went through what was it 6 doctors? or was it 7. I ran into one JUST like that 4 doctors ago. She was very condescending, and this was before my celiac dia. She practically worshiped the whole eat all whole grains, avoid dairy lifestyle. She never even suggested a gluten issue back when I was going nuts with all my issues leaving me in bed with nerve issues most of the week. She did mention I need to start taking magnesium and b-vitamins, this did help but she also suggested I stop eating white bread and move to whole wheat .   I will admit I did later go back to inform her of my condition after I did get the somewhat of a odd method dia. (long story) and she blew it off like there is no way my issues could be caused by wheat.
    • I've had it twice and it was served to me different each time. The first time it was served warm in a sealed bag. The second time it was served warm, not in a sealed bag, but on their traditional paper. I should have refused the possible contaminated order, but I was hungry and in a hurry so I accepted it. My symptoms are a rash so it's not extreme intolerance, but I can say that I'm disappointed in their inconsistency. 👎
