Today I had a Reese's and I had heard they were gluten free. About an hour after I had extreme d and got really tired. Now I've had a belly ache all day :angry: Has anyone else had this from Reese's? :(

I think several people have had problems.

They say they are safe except the seasonal and shaped. I assume shared lines? http://www.thehersheycompany.com/brands/special-nutrition.aspx#/Gluten-Free

It may just be too processed a food - especially if you're at the beginning of gluten-free. I like them but I don't eat them now. Just too much "junk" in them for me to process. I may be ok with one bit no more than that.

I am pretty sensitive and I have never had an issue with them. I usually get the regular size and haven't had the 'seasonal' ones. If your new to a diet be aware that it isn't always gluten and even if it is it isn't always the last thing you ate as reactions can be delayed by up to as much as a few days.

I eat them regularly and haven't had any problems. I have had a few seasonal ones but always check the label first.

I eat them all the time and I have no problems...it helps feed my love addition with chocolate and peanut butter! The only junk food better is pb m&ms!

I've only been completely gluten free for a few months now so maybe it was too much for y stomach to handle. Although I do fine with ice cream and stuff but maybe because buyers only has normal ingredients. I'm gonna have to be careful

I have no celiac disease issues with them, but the sugar in the chocolate forces me to limit consumtion. I eat them as a treat from time to time.

It's really weird what can set you off....

I pigged out on gluten-free Halloween candy last year. Was great, til it wasn't.

You'll find your crutch and addiction. Mine was Talenti gelato. OMG. I should buy stock....

Was it a special holiday edition shape? They do add gluten to different shapes for the holidays. I bought 3 bags of holiday bells about 3 years ago. :o

I'm not sure what's different with the holiday shaped ones but nothing is different with the holiday ones in pretty wrappers. They're just the same old thing from the same old plant with prettier foil. I was very bad this year and couldn't resist temptation when I saw on clearance after Easter one of the giant eggs for a buck. They're usually like $4 and I just couldn't help myself. I'm lucky it didn't make me sick, especially since I ate it in all over the span of about 24 hours! :blink: So far though I haven't gotten sick from any Reese's, they're my only chocolate indulgence that isn't fancy pants important stuff.

    • In the US you can order blood tests online. If you want to go that route here is the info: The full celiac panel includes: TTG IGA

      IGA You can either have a gastroenterologist order the full celiac panel plus whatever else they typically test for, or you can order your own test at a site like walkinlab.com. At walkinlab.com it's called the celiac comprehensive antibody test and costs $298.00 (not covered by insurance). The blood draw is done at your nearest Labcorp. You get your results in less than a week at walkinlab.com .   If you are going to buypass testing for some reason you can try a really basic diet for a couple of weeks. If you start to feel a little better you can slowly add on basic meats and veggies and see how you feel. For a basic diet I'm thinking chicken cooked with salt and chicken broth.   I'm not a doc, just my opinion.  
    • I have had Costa Coffee, but just plain.  What we miss are their gluten free chicken wraps and brownies!  We lived on those for breakfast before touring around.  Starbucks, bring those to the U.S.!  
    • Everyone here has been so nice and supportive to explain why it's so important to stay gluten free for your disease. I however am going to have to take the tough love way in hopes you will see the seriousness of this.  Going to the bathroom several times a day is just a minor symptom of your body destroying your ability to absorb nutrients, for which all organs and systems in your body require to work properly.  Have you seen the list of diseases this can lead to?  I chose to try to not get fibromyalgia, dementia, alzheimer's, colon cancer, type 1 diabetes, other organ failures, and on and on....these are not just diseases for old people, you can trigger them at any time if you keep pushing your body to it.  If you do not take care of it, this disease will eventually kill you, in a slow and painful and drawn out miserable way... worth it???
    • There are people convinced they react to water.... Use some common sense and read labels. Most Celiacs don't post on here and most probably live their lives believing when a product says it is gluten-free that it is gluten-free.   I have seen people convinced they are reacting to a gluten-free product but it turns out to be something else.  Don't let people scare you if it makes no sense.    
    • I buy both.  Never been glutened by them.   I do avoid the deli counter.  I choose those that are factory packaged.
