So, since deciding casein was also an issue for me, I decided to get some dairy-free stuff to help me avoid falling off the wagon. Hy vee has a nice selection of "cheese alternatives" in their healthyglutenfreeorganiccrunchynuttyblech aisle. But get this- every single variety of "pretend" cheese contained MILK! Seriously! Who would buy cheese made from rice or almonds if they COULD HAVE MILK! ARGH. Stupid stupidstupid.....

Crazy huh! If people are looking for a cheese substitue it's probably because oh I dont know THEY CANT HAVE MILK?!? lol Try Daiya cheese. It's soy, gluten and dairy free! :) And get this...it actually melts! Lol I tried a tofu cheese once. I used it on something I cooked in the oven and the stuff didn't melt. You could have taken a blow torch to it and it would have kept it's shape. Lol I'm dairy free also so if you need suggestions let me know :)

Where do you find that? I am in the middle of nowhere and had to drive 30 min to the "big hyvee" that actually has a Health Market section!

I've used Daiya as well and it is pretty good. I've found it at Whole Foods and the big King Soopers in my area (Colorado). I haven't checked Vitamin Cottage but a friend of mine said she's see it at a couple of the bigger stores.

Hmmmm. There is a whole foods 3 hours away....long way to go for cheese! I may have to learn to live without!
