Hey all, just wanted to post that the Las Vegas Celiac Support Group is active again after almost a year of being inactive. I took over our group effective 9/11/2005 and am looking forward to helping our group grow and share lots of information. If anyone has any suggestions, ideas, helpful hints, etc... I would appreciate them whether from other group leaders or from those in a group or anyone else! If you know anyone in LV who has celiac disease please pass the info on! Thanks Jenn in LV B)

I have the skinny on some decent restaurants that cater to the gluten-free Folk.....even in Summerlin!

See you there.

We are going to Las Vegas for Christmas. Any info on restaurants that are helpful to gluten-free would be great. We are staying at the Mirage, but my usual staple - Kokomos will be closed. I already started a list of recommendations from Broncobux. Armetta

My mother lives in Henderson NV and I visit often from Michigan. It would be great to know which restaurants to visit while I am there. If someone can post it, or email with that information, I would be forever grateful.

I just have been dx with celiac disease and I am so overwhelmed!!!

Thanks

Sally

Although neither of you reside in Vegas, you should check out our local group and sign up. You can then get info on local restaurnats that have gluten-free selections. Also, since your mom lives in Henderson maybe she could come to a support group meeting some time. I think she would enjoy it. The link to the website is: Open Original Shared Link

just click the join in tab and I will approve you. Make sure you set your settings to get all the messages from the day in the daily digest so that you aren't overwhelmed by emails!! Jenn in LV

You've been approved. Thanks for joining. Please let your mom know there is a celiac disease meeting at Water to Go on Rampart and Lake Mead tomorrow (15 of October) at 2:00. You can find the address on the support site. I hope she is able to make it we have some great samples of gluten-free food available, there will be a speaker discussing a gluten-free related topic, and we will also have some gluten-free baking mixes being given away. Oh yeah, and all members will get a 15% discount on gluten-free purchases (including gluten-free vitamins). Hope to see her there! Jenn

Hi... I just applied for membership. I have not been diagnosed as a celiac, but have been fighting symptoms consistent with celiac disease for a few years. My brother was just diagnosed with celiac disease and SS (Sjogren's). When I look back on the last few years, it is so clear that I am a celiac. I have been gluten-free for a few months and feel great. It is amazing how clear headed I feel. Hopefully I will be approved so I can meet other people that understand celiac and how frustrating it can be. Thanks :)

Hello I was diagnosed 6 weeks ago and feel totally lost. I'm afraid to eat anywhere but home and even there I managed to make mistakes. Does anyone have any recipes for real food? I'm getting tired of eating plain meat and canned veggies.

So, I contacted Scott Adams, the author of that article and also the creator/admin of this website, and pointed out to him the need to clarify the information in the paragraph in question. He has now updated the paragraph and it is clear that the DGP-IGA does serve the purpose of circumventing the false negatives that IGA deficiencies can generate in the tTG-IGA antibody test.

Has anyone experimenced enlarged lymph nodes with celiac? Both in the neck and groin area. Imaging of both areas have said that lymph nodes are reactive in nature. However, they have been present for months and just wondering how long this may take to go down. Been gluten-free for about two months. Blood counts are normal.

Hmm interesting I just assumed that any “IGA” tests including the DPG iga would be negative in a person who is IGA deficient but maybe that is not the case for the DPG test.

If you were just diagnosed I can say that if you go 100% gluten-free should should see dramatic improvement of your symptoms over the next few months, but the hard part is to stay gluten-free. This article has some detailed information on how to be 100% gluten-free, so it may be helpful (be sure to also read the comments section.):
