Tell me about it, when you can not eat meats, and a bunch of other things, it becomes really quite annoying getting the optimal fat/protein ratios. The amount of nuts, seeds, and vegan protein powders I go through is crazy. Diet cost me over $600 a month for a single male at 125-128lbs and 5' 11" Egg whites is about the only animal product I can eat in large amounts (8-12) with no issues (Yolks bother me). And I only eat them for breakfast mixed with coconut flour, and nuts/seed butters to bring the fats up then use in omelettes, pancakes, waffles, or scramble them. I also normally go light for lunch, salad with jack fruit and vegan cheese or cheese sauce I make, or this week making portabello pizzas/fake bagel bites for lunch with s salad. Dinner I normally just make a huge bowl of vegan icecream with a few scoops of protein powder, and almond butter in it >.> I just get depressed at the end of hte day and want icecream and not cook over a hot stove/oven.
I just looked around that site and already saw several things I want to try. I really want to try hemp seeds. I'm gonna try ordering a few things on there. I really need something to snack on and add to salads and stuff. Thanks so much.
I'm a gluten-free vegetarian. That being said I was taking prednisone for 2 months (unrelated to my celiac) and got a diet a friend was doing and tried it to lose the 10 lbs I gained from the steroid. I ate eggs for breakfast, hard boiled or an omelet. I had a salad with Beyond Meat Chicken (fake) for lunch and soup I made with some veggies and tofu for dinner.
My brain fog was quite a bit less and I had crazy amounts of energy. Being a vegetarian I just can't eat that way all the time.
Has a bunch of seeds, dried fruit, etc. that are gluten-free and free of all major allergens. I love the deep nutty crunch of the hemp seeds, and the pumpkin seeds. I eat them shell on whole, plenty of fiber, they also sell shelled versions of them and even sunflower, chia, and flax.
Welcome to the board. It is too bad your 'doctor' didn't test you for celiac before telling you to go gluten free. Since he was neglectful in that respect chances are he didn't tell you all you need to do to keep yourself safe IF you have celiac. Since you have children and celiac is hereditary you should consider going back to eating gluten and getting tested. Chances are good that you are not as gluten free as you think you may be and that would be what causes you to still have periodic issues. That is especially the case if you have other folks in your home that are still eating gluten. It was very irresponsible of your doctor to simply tell you to go gluten free without testing and giving you the full info after diagnosis to keep you safe. He virtually guarenteed that you will still have periodic issues so he could charge you for an 'allergy' test . As other posters mentioned the results of that allergy testing are very strange and IMHO should be ignored for now. Please consider going back on gluten, a couple slices of bread a day should be enough, and get tested by a real MD in a couple months. Meanwhile do read the Newbie 101 thread so that you will know what you need to do to keep yourself safe if those tests come back positive. Also be very cautious with any herbals or supplements that 'doctor' may have prescribed.
