Love the Superman thing!

So I looked at the mail today. My son has letters from - George W Bush, one of our state senators, vice pres Biden & Barack Obama. All I got was some advertisements and a couple of bills.

WaaaaaHooooo!!!

The Grumpster (aka The Hubs) has left the house under his own steam to toddle off to the beach -- hoping the surf provide a few fishies which will further eleviate his grumpiness :)

Thanks guys...couldn't have made it this past couple weeks without ya -- well I could of, but with far, far fewer smiles :D

Apparently since tomorrow is the longest day of the year, it was picked to be the first world giraffe day. :D I went to look up weird holidays and discovered other things that are tomorrow. Apparently every solstice (so twice a year) is global orgasm day. It's for peace. Seriously. So crazy I can't make this stuff up! It's for global peace. You guys aren't against peace are you? ARE YOU?

Yup. tis St. John's day.  You build a fire and drink alcohol.

I like the orgasm day concept more!  Consider the fire and cocktails foreplay. ;)

We find a dry Riesling goes very well with toasted marshmallows.  That's what Hub, M & I had last weekend with our marshmallows.  We didn't add chocolate or grahams.  I bet a nice Zin would go well with the chocolate.

She did find that line very funny. (my mother is a crazy woman with a young heart.)

I still recall saying it the first time and wondering how it would be accepted on here LOL

and I agree!!.....Shroomie lives on in my heart for sure. She has a lot of fans 'round here.

She was a genuine person, full of life and wisdom.

LOL... I can totally see the draw to crawl into that thing for a pic.  But... that guy... that was probably his first experience with one!!!!! *badum tsh!*

Saturday night I was slicing up a cantaloupe and sliced into my thumb.  Let out a bloody murder scream.  My husband was playing a game with headphones on and he said he thought the scream was a game noise.. LOL!

Sometimes I wonder if I hurt myself in the kitchen and screamed if my husband would come running or not. He sometimes like to play horror games and he may also just think it's his game! Since our computers are next to each other we use headphones because otherwise we'd just annoy each other.

Yesterday apparently I decided to get sick. Really real, stay in bed, don't eat, sip ginger ale and sleep all the time sick. Ugh... I crawled out of bed this afternoon to look at facebook a little and just feel human a bit and discovered this amazingly groan worthy list of puns. :Dhttp://www.buzzfeed.com/patricksmith/really-really-bad-puns?bffb

    • Hello everyone! I haven't been on the forum in awhile hope everyone is doing well! After about almost 3 months of being gluten free I'm finally feeling quite a bit better. I have so much more energy and just a better outlook on life. I'd say my good days are finally outweighing the bad!   So I had  question (I wasn't exactly sure which topic to classify it as though). Is anyone on here a vegan as well as being gluten free? I have been really getting into eating healthy and working out and I've been watching many documentaries on food. Almost all the ones I've watched say a plant based diet is really the best route to go. So I had been thinking about going Vegan since about March I'd say, I for the most part, am almost a vegetarian (meat is like an occasion). After watching another health/food documentary last night called "What the Health?" on netflix it really made me want to go vegan. In the doc. they explain how the WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION did research and actually classifies processed meat as a "GROUP 1 CARCINOGEN" right next to CIGARETTES!!! They also explain all the cancer, diabetes, and heart disease risks that go along with animal products and how genetics only really play a role about 5% of the time. Now believe me I go into these shows open minded but skeptical since I know there's a lot of bias information out there but this documentary really blew me away. I have a decent background in science (having a bs in animal science pre-vet studies) and everything they say makes scientific sense (to me at least).  How would one go about even being vegan if there is so many grains we cant have? Is there anyone out there thats done this?  Thanks in advance!
    • I had high antibodies, no symptoms, and a positive biopsy.  I am glad you are getting a second opinion.  I'm glad celiac can be treated (gluten free diet) without a doctor's prescription, since so many doctors do a poor job diagnosing it.
    • Oh my gosh, that is an amazing turn around! I'm already seeking a second opinion and even if they won't send me to another GI I'm going to stop eating gluten. I'm glad you're doing so much better!
    • After I received my test results, I stopped eating gluten for the most part. After I stopped, any time I ate anything containing gluten I noticed that I felt bad afterward. I ate two cookies on Tuesday and I'm still recovering from that, GI-wise. The foggy head only lasts a couple of hours. Before I cut back on gluten, I noticed that I felt absolutely awful after eating noodle-based Lean Cuisines. I was trying to lose weight and ate frozen meals 2-3 times a week because they were easy. My GP thought I had IBS initially and recommended that I only eat food that is easy to digest, like white toast. Those two weeks between my initial appointment and a preliminary celiac diagnosis were pure hell because I was eating toast for breakfast and lunch.
    • Interesting! I'll have to check and see if my liver enzymes were checked the last time they did labs, but I've never had issues before. Do you (or does anyone) know of a resource to find a GI that specializes in celiac disease? I tried to look before I was referred to the one I saw yesterday, but I didn't have much luck. I'm near Sacramento if anyone has a recommendation!
