  3. And the fact is, no two celiacs will necessarily respond the same to gluten exposure. Some are "silent" celiacs and don't experience obvious symptoms. But that doesn't mean no harm is being done to their gut. It just means it is subclinical.
  4. Thank you, Trents. I appreciate your helpful and friendly reply. It seems more likely to be a bug. It has been a pretty severe bought. I feel that I don’t have enough experience to know what signs my little one shows after exposure to gluten.
  5. Hannah24, be aware that if you are on a gluten free diet, you will invalidate any further testing for celiac disease (except genetics) and would need to go back to eating significant amounts of gluten for weeks or months to qualify for valid testing.
  6. Hello, @Hannah24 Have you had a DNA test done? Celiac Disease is genetic. You must have at least one gene to develop celiac disease. You don't have to be consuming gluten for a genetic test. Anemia, diabetes and thiamine deficiency can cause false negatives. Some lucky people are seronegative, but still have celiac disease. Peripheral...
  7. We do hear of cases of remission but they generally eventually revert back. I wouldn't push your luck.
  8. Welcome to the forum, @AlyO! Diarrhea is a classic symptom when exposed to gluten among those with celiac disease. But it could certainly be due to an intestinal bug or even food poisoning. Just because others in the family might not become ill doesn't rule out the possibility of a non-gluten intestinal pathogen of some kind. Different people will have...
  9. Welcome to the forum, @Linedancegal, No, you still have Celiac Disease. You just have been on a gluten free diet successfully for so long that your body's immune system isn't reacting strongly YET. It can take many exposures consistently to get your immune system back to making the quantity of antibodies necessary for those typical symptoms. ...
  10. Hello! I am a 25 year biopsy confirmed female. 2 nights ago my husband and I both got pizza, one regular for him and one gluten free for me. Yesterday we ate the leftovers, and afterward, I realized that I had eaten 3 pieces of the regular pie! I was prepared to spend the next day (my usual reaction time) being sick and sticking close to a bathroom. It's...
  11. Hi everyone, this is my first time posting so please excuse if it’s in the wrong category. My 4 year old with celiac disease (gluten free one year) has had terrible diarrhea all day. He hasn’t had a known gluten exposure. It is possibly viral or another bug. The rest of us seem to be just fine. Would that be an expected reaction to gluten for a s...
  12. Maybe you could gently let your sister-in-law know about your daughter's dietary needs and offer to help find a restaurant with gluten-free options. If that doesn't work out, attending the ceremony and skipping the luncheon doesn't sound rude at all. Your daughter's well-being comes first, and sometimes that means making tough choices.

  14. Ted also has a video where he shows himself performing his first self-inoculation:
  15. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dHRZkZ_b1sg Ted Simon uses an incubator and vermiculite. His channel offers several other hookworm related videos, including one where he shows using a microscope to harvest the larvae. My method doesn't use an incubator or vermiculite and I get good results, but I can't claim consistency as I don't have that much...
  16. I am aware of the gene test but will first go through the biopsy later this year due to insurance coverage and another needed test.. (I have scheduled both at the same time.) Where I live it takes almost 3 months to schedule a biopsy. It took 4 months for a gastro appointment and had to travel 2 hours for it. So yes, all was explained I will need to eat...
  17. Approximately 10x more people have non-celiac gluten sensitivity than have celiac disease, but there isn’t yet a test for NCGS. If your symptoms go away on a gluten-free diet it would likely signal NCGS.
  18. I went back to see a gastroenterologist today because I continue to have some symptoms even though I follow a gluten-free and my celiac antibodies are now in normal levels. The gastroenterologist says that having upper abdominal pain is no a symptom of celiac disease. I was like, what? I told him I visit celiac forums to learn about the management of this...
  19. My daughter gets really bad stomach pains, vomits and a fever! She also complains about soreness inside her mouth.
  20. Jersey Mike's cleans the meat grinder and has utensils sealed in bag. Pokehana has gluten-free soy dressing but they use imitation crab which has gluten. PF Chang's has dedicated fryer and so far, Chipotle and Rubio's has not made me sick. I use to be able to eat Red Robins fries with my grandson, but they made me sick for 3 days, so I'm guessing my Celiac...
  21. Chick-fil‐A. Grilled nuggets and waffle fries!!
  22. My initial symptoms when I was diagnosed 8 years ago were severe cramps in my calves at night, joint pain and cancker sores in my mouth. Once I went gluten free, my symptoms subsided in about a week. If I accidentally ingest gluten now, I get violently ill with abdominal pain, nausea and constant vomitting.
  23. Anemia can contribute to false negatives in the celiac antibody testing as can low total IGA. Do you have a record of what blood antibody tests they ran? Also, did they do a biopsy when they did the endoscopy?
  24. So sorry you are going through this @Hannah24. You should try to get to the bottom (ie find out the exact cause) of the low iron (if low iron is the root of it). Do you also have low hemoglobin? What is/was it? It's great that you got your GI tract checked out. Why would your docs think you are crazy if you've had two iron transfusions? (BTW - did...
  25. Hello! I have been having symptoms of Celiacs for several years now with "Flare up" episode as I call it. I finally decided to get a colonoscopy and endoscopy done June of last year and had all the blood test done and everything came out Negative. The only thing they said was they did see inflammation. This was all after realizing I was extremely low iron...
  26. I get really awful muscle spasms when my magnesium runs low. I take Trace Mineral Drops. I get it from Amazon for a few days and they go away. You can also buy them at Health, Food stores like Whole Foods sprouts. Magnesium pills don’t work like the liquid form which works fairly quickly. It doesn’t take very long for them to come back if I forget to tak...
  27. Have they checked you for microscopic colitis. The test is a colonoscopy with a biopsy. That can cause diarrhea. Good luck.
