ARCHIVED Can I Touch Hay ?
georgie replied to georgie's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Its definately wheat hay. Where we live its too dry to grow alfalfa and legume hays. We can ship it in from across the country but its costs HEAPS. I am rereading this topic as I think I really have a problem with this now. When I started the thread it was winter and I was wearing more clothes to go into the barn. Now its summer here, I wear shorts and... -

My friend does for her daughter. I can find out the brand of breadmaker for you. It is the one recommended by the Coeliac Society. Don't do what I did and just buy any brand .... it didn't work at all. -
I wear contact lens and am starting to notice dry eyes too. I have 5 autoimmune conditions - so should I be thinking of being tested for Sjogrens ? Some days the eyes are so dry that my contacts seem to 'stick' to my eye and I can't even get them out easily.

ARCHIVED Need Help Figuring Out Thyroid Results
georgie replied to writerspice's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Cytomel IS T3 - so doesn't need converting to show up as Free T3 on a blood test. Most HypoT people seem to feel best when FT3 sits at the top or slightly over the top of the high normal range of your blood test. 175 mg Cytomel is a LOT of T3 - is it slow release at all ? The fact that your antibodies are coming down is good but am surprised you need so... -
ARCHIVED Need Help Figuring Out Thyroid Results
georgie replied to writerspice's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
You have Hashimotos and you need that TSH to be 0 to suppress the Antibody attacks and damage. Your FT4 is too low - it should be midrange. And was Free T3 tested ? FT3 is the energy ...and if you don't convert T4 to T3 - then you don't get well. I wasn't sure what Eltroxin was so looked it up. Open Original Shared Link Its a T4 med. Have you tried... -

Happy to report that this deoderant , talc and shampoo is the best 'natural' range I have ever tried ! The deoderant is aluminium free as well as gluten-free and works brilliantly - and believe me - I have tried other 'natural' ones that have not worked at all for me. -
I was definately glutened by my old makeup. I don't wear it every day - so it was easy to track down the culprit. I still feed my horses with wheat hay without gloves but am careful to wash my hands immediately after. I threw out all normal flour so I would never be tempted to cook 'normal' food for my family again - as I was glutened by just cooking with...

I have been using a whey based protein powder that is labelled gluten-free. I was worrying about the dairy content but now I have symptoms of a Glutening ( fatigue, constipation, headache). I will go and check the label ! (edited) YES - it has Glutamine Peptide. What does this mean? Have I been Glutening myself ?

ARCHIVED Protein Powders
georgie posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
If you are dairy intolerant as well as Celiac - can you have whey based protein powders ? I have been using gluten-free Designer Whey - and as I didn't get an immediate Dairy reaction I continued. But now I have symptoms of constipation, fatigue and headache ( which are my Glutening symptoms). Could it be the powder drink? -

Absolutely ! I get the feeling my family are all saying 'there she goes again' .... I am dreading this Christmas. The family are planning to have it at my brothers place and their kitchen would have huge cc issues. We will all take some food anyway - so will have to discreetly take 'my' gluten-free food and sort of mingle without making a fuss or a statement... -
Thanks ! We have that here - I think just called apple puree or apple sauce but I know the jar. I will check to see if its got Gluten on the label.
