  1. Yes please ! Send me an avatar selection !! About the feeling of being deprived and wanting to eat cake. Be warned .... I have just had some Livwell Jam Tarts from the gluten-free shop and they are great! Very sweet but great for indulging. I have tried the carrot cake from Michels - I thought it was great ... Also our small local bakery does...
  2. Yes I was going to add this! White sauces thickened with maize flour or rice flour are better anyway. So many dishes work out better - don't stick or go lumpy. Its just trial and error to get it all going. And watch your weight Nutralady ! All those yummy gluten-free cakes are much higher in calories. I gained 10kg by going gluten-free! May also be a...
  3. Yes. The gluten-free cake mixes are less sticky than normal mixes and sometimes the cakes crumble as you turn them out. With soft scrunchy silicon cookware they seem to fall out without a problem. We threw out chopping boards and wooden spoons but kept the same saucepans, plates etc. What hubbie did do was to throw out al wheat flour from the pantry so...
  4. Yes - thats it ! I remember the vinegar now. I did a large cake & small cakes with gluten-free icing and then froze them. I have also found silicon bakeware is best for gluten-free.
  5. Absolutely as he knows what he hands around comes around. He is the BEST and people flock there. For eg - he can dx a lipoma from a nasty just by touch and gives the option to the client " I am 95% sure its harmless" to let you decide. He has dx rare eye infections immed when another vet had given me wrong stuff. Charges cost price for swabs etc. Is available...
  6. Just catching this thread. I have a soft spot for dogs - have a few - I am a registered breeder.Anyway - its a crime what that vet did to you. Its terrible when you don't have a vet you can trust. Mine is great - and has saved me heaps over the years. Sandy's advise sounds exactly right. Xrays don't always show these injuries anyway so don't rush into those...
  7. I think so ? Does anyone know ? I am still handling and touching wheat hay for my horses. I should use gloves but don't. I make sure I rinse my hands ASAP and I haven't been Glutened yet.
  8. No - I think its this one Open Original Shared Link Its so long since I did it - I have gone foggy! I gained so much weight with the gluten-free diet that I have had to stop looking at all the yummy recipes !
  9. I have the BEST chocolate cake recipe if you want it. Its really moist and tastes even better than normal choc cake ! Its from the Healtheries people. I got it from a packet of their flour but think its on their website as well. Open Original Shared Link
  10. Also a web address Open Original Shared Link I had a Choc Cherry Bar of theirs last week and it was yummo
  11. Sorry you are having bad times. One thing - when you say your Thyroid is normal - have you got the papers there ? What Thyroid test was done and what are your numbers? I believe you are legally entitled to receive those results in writing. You may have to pay an admin fee now for them to search for you - but in future - at the appt - make sure the Dr hands...
  12. Yes, I am one that is fine with goats milk cheese in moderation but cannot tolerate cows milk cheeses ( or milk powder , milk etc). I buy some imported French and Italian goats milk cheeses and indulge ! This link explains the different caseins quite well. Open Original Shared Link
  13. I noticed I needed less Thyroid meds once I was gluten-free.
  14. Its my understanding that HC can actually boost the immune system - if you are deficient as proven by medical testing - and take the correct dose to SUPPLEMENT what is missing. But be careful - as it is a drug of dependence and has a 'feel good' factor as well. Healthy adrenals normally produce about 15 - 40mg of cortisone a day I believe ( source Dr Hertoghe...
  15. Its a Thyroid med that has been around for over 100 years. Its dessicated pigs thyroid - standardised now to USP standards for consistancy. It has 38mcg T4 , and 9mcg T3 in each 60mg tablet( 1 grain). Its not an exact match to what our own Thyroid produces but is very close. People that don't get better on Synthroid often have an amazing response to Armour...
  16. Definately a link with autoimmune diseases. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link
  17. This is PubMed and you don't need to register to view articles. Risk of primary adrenal insufficiency in patients with celiac disease. Elfstr
  18. Thanks for posting this. Its very interesting. I have Adrenal Insufficiency and my Dr has tested me for Addisons Disease Antibodies. My test was normal but the lab had a disclaimer on it which made me think that this blood test is not 100% reliable. Then this week someone has posted on an Addisons Board that she has autoimmune Addisons but her antibodies...
  19. You need to change Drs.... Once you have been dx with PA you never need to have B12 checked again ( in theory). You don't dose to blood tests if you have PA. If its genuine PA - you need to have injections of B12 forever and regularly and not take notice of where your levels are at. Most people I know at PA do have a yearly checkup as to get Folate tested...
  20. Nausea can be a symptom of HypoPituitary. Open Original Shared Link
  21. Absolutely ! And even more reason for you to be tested further and taken seriously. I have have had numerous horse falls but have had 2 very nasty falls from bolting horses - onto my head and cracking my helmet. I have been told that any severe jarring effect can damage the pituitary. The MRI I am having tomorrow is necessary to check for tumours but there...
  22. Some people start out with Hashimotos but end up with HypoPituitary. If you think getting Hashimotos dx is hard - then HypoPituitary is 10x worse! You need a Dr that thinks outside the square - and tests for all possibles - and then knows how to interpret a test result when it comes back as low normal. With HypoPituitary you start to see multiple hormone...
  23. This may be significient. It is a very typical pattern for th onset of Hashimotos Thyroid - an autoimmune disease of the Thyroid. If her Dr is only testing TSH - he may miss it for years. She needs a complete Thyroid panel of tests ( TSH, Free T4, Free T3, and Thyroid Antibodies ) to check for this. Most people with Hashimotos feel best when they are medicated...
  24. Also check for Pituitary disorders. Have a Complete Blood Count done to show sodium / potassium levels. Check hormone levels. Check for Adrenal Insufficiency. Read as much as you can of Dr Hertoghe. HypoPituitary disorders are very difficuly to diagnose. Do google searches..research....
  25. Hi Angie, I have PA as well and cannot stress enough how important it is to get the correct LOADING DOSE followed by the correct maintenance dose. Many Drs do not understand but you risk permanent neuro damage if you allow one of these Drs to administer incorrect treatment. The loading dose is needed to build up the liver reserves again - and only after that...
