  1. No. I asked Dr Moll - the consultant Hemo at the FVL site, and Director of the Thrombophilia Program at the Carolina Cardiovascular Biology Center, Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology-Oncology, UNC Chapel Hill. The answer was 'no', and there is there also no association with other autoimmune conditions.
  2. I am on a mailing list for FVL - with a Hemo Dr on board - so will ask. I know that there is some link with FVL and APS. And that APS is an autoimmune clotting disorder. And that Celiac is an autoimmune condition. And that autoimmune conditions group together. Sorry to hear about your brother. He doesn't have low B12/ Pernicious Anaemia by any chance ?...
  3. My husband was as you are for years - with chronic Sinus infections and a failed sinus op. He also was tired all the time. Years after Drs started testing him for general health issues re his CFS, we found an old blood test that showed his TSH was 2.2 and was NOT normal as they had told us. We changed Drs, he started Thyroid meds, and has barely had a sinus...

    ARCHIVED Please Help

Thanks. I realised my shoes had elastic in them - so have scrubbed them with soap and water. I now wear diff shoes to the hay shed. Tonight I had another severe reaction after walking in there but it is easing now a little. I was a little concerned a few hours ago as the allergic reaction seemed to be spreading. However, as I type - it feels in control...
  5. Is this DH ? I have 2 symmetrical patches of ITCH on the inner crease of my foot to ankle. The itch is undescribable but its a hard lump. Like a callous but its red and itchy. Could this be DH ? I have horses and have been walking in / in foot contact with - wheat hay. The raised lumps are about 1cm x 2 cm. Cortisone cream is not helping a lot.
  6. I don't know about the Celiac connection but anyone with a family history of clotting should be blood tested for Factor V Leiden ( FVL), and APS (Hughes Syndrome ) as a matter of urgency. Many of these tests are new in the last 10 years or less - so its important to do your own research and be up to date - as your Dr may not be ..... www.fvleiden.org ...
  7. I have Pernicious Anaemia and also Celiac/Gluten Intolerance. Its interesting to hear that many have felt that sublingual B12 works for them - as it didn't for me. I have had to have a year of nearly weekly and painful injections. I take sublinguals between jabs but they seem to do nothing. I have just ordered a B12 nasal spray from my compounding chemist...
  8. My weak legs and backache was caused by low B12. Much better now I have had the B12 - symptoms return a little before a jab is due and then improve each time.
  9. May I suggest putting Fibromyalgia Thyroid into Google.Lots of info out there. Answers at your fingertips. And for those on Thyroid medications that still have Fibro - perhaps a change of medication ? Synthroid is only one of the many choices available. And thank goodness for that !!
  10. I ask the staff. They then ask the chef. If the sauces are made fresh on the premises he will know exactly what has been used and Italians don't tend to use wheat or gluten in sauces much anyway. From every menu I have had a choice of 3 or 4 dishes ( mainly the pasta list) and then they put that with the gluten-free pasta. I miss the bread but a small...
  11. I hope my eyesight is improving too ! I have made the appt for next week.. The new contacts made 6 months ago were good for 3 months and have now 'gone bad' again ...
  12. I had this pain for years and despite chiros etc it never improved. I have a bulging disc.... I had Prolotherapy 3 years ago for that area and its been a 99% success ! Hardly any pain at all now unless I do something silly and lift a heavy object. The Dr explained that my ligaments were slack and movement was causing friction of nerve fibres hence the pain...
  13. Italian restaurants are the BEST places to go if you need to eat gluten-free. Celiac is big news in Italy. They all totally understand. Their gluten-free pasta is the best, and they also do gluten-free lasagne pasta - so anything is possible. Have you rung the chef to ask if they do gluten-free options, and if they make their own sauces fresh and on the...
  14. This is amazing...I am having a light globe moment .... Do we get more sensitive to trace amounts of Gluten after being gluten-free for 10 months or so ?? I suddenly realised also that I have changed my dogs to gluten-free food recently...so the house now is 100% gluten-free. But then ...I am feeding the horses with wheat hay and yes - I do get wheat...
  15. I forgot to say that my throat is fine now. Eventually I had the full thyroid blood tests and an ultrasound that showed an enlarged multinodular thyroid ( goitre). It took about 8 weeks of changing Drs and getting appts etc - to reach this stage. All that time I could barely swallow and my voice was husky. I could only eat rice... After going onto Armour...
  16. Could I be Glutening myself by feeding my horses ? Its wheat hay ......
  17. Thyroid.... Make sure you get a full Thyroid Test done. That includes Free T4, Free T3 and Thyroid Antibodies. Go to www.stopthethyroidmadness.com I had that lump as you describe. Dr did all the cancer checks and had no reasons for it. She kept telling me my Thyroid was 'normal'. I eventually got copies of my tests , and found she had been testing...
  18. Does it ? That sort of confirms what I am experiencing. For 30 years my script stayed exactly the same - now after 6 months can feel that I need another correction. I don't seem to hear my friends saying this. Their eyes changed a bit as they aged ( I am 47) but not rapidly every few months. Last time - my eyes had improved ! So lets hope that is the case...
  19. Has anyone else noticed a change with their eyesight after going gluten-free ? I have worn contact lenses for 35 years. I know my eyes and what they should feel like. My prescription has been identical for 30 years and now - rapid changes.... Blurred vision both close up and at distance. I wear reading glasses now but the blurred vision is not just about...
  20. Does anyone know if the barbequed chooks from Woolies are safe ? The brown coating ? What is that ?
  21. OMG Susan - this is terrible! I am almost a Type 2 Diabetic as well ( Insulin Resistant/ Reactive Hypoglycemic) and simply HAVE to eat. For me this would have been a near death experience ! Its been a week since my family meal ordeal. I have suffered terribly since with family fights and inuendos. My hubbie supports me which is great and I hope your...
  22. I feel badly Glutened and have no idea what it can be. Only thing I have been having more so recently is soy milk... I make a hot choc soy milk each night ....At first it was great ...now I am wondering ....
  23. I had an appt this week for a chiropractor and masseur. Oil was used and now - 3 days later - I feel ill as though I have been glutened. I was struggling to find a reason and then thought of this oil that was used. Could that be the cause ??
  24. I feel so ill right now. Today I was so tired and foggy that I nearly drove the car off the road. I really don't what is wrong - but I did eat a fatty type sausage meal 2 nights ago..... the sausage said it was gluten-free.... Should I suspect that ?
  25. This sounds a good idea as I think I am getting vitamin deficiencies now. What is a good juicer to get ? What to look for ?
