ARCHIVED Friends And Family Not Supporting You?
georgie replied to a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Oh...I so need this thread...... Last night was my first family dinner at our local Pub since being diagnosed. THEY chose the venue. There was NO choice for me. I knew this - so my dear hubbie cooked a risotto before I left and I ate that at home. So ...I wasn't hungry while I sat there watching them eat their crumbed snitzels, battered fish and sauce laden... -

Has anyone tried the Sealord 'Snakits' Tuna lite ? The ingredients are rice crackers and then the tuna is flavoured with tomato paste ,sundried tomato, vinegar, sugar , maize thickener, onion flavour. I have a packet here but is it safe to eat ? I thought it would be a handy meal to pack and have with you when you are in places without gluten-free food... -

Multiple low hormones may mean HypoPituitary. It can be hard to get a dx. Even harder to get correct treatment. ACTH Stim Testing, Insulin Tolerance Test. MRI. How are the TSH and Cortisol ? I am a member of a HypoPituitary yahoo group and they are very helpful. Have you ever had a head injury, or whiplash ? I am still struggling for answers myself. -

After a year of weekly B12 injections my neuro symptoms are still improving. My Pernicious Anaemia was dx very late . Drs simply don't test B12 as they should. Or don't treat to symptoms. If you have neuro symptoms and test borderline low in B12, or even SUSPECT low B12 - get the Loading Dose of injections. Its simply a vitamin ...... that a deficiency of... -
What tests thyroid tests did she have done (I hope it was all of them), and what are the results with ranges. I had Drs miss my HypoThyroid for 30 years cos of the TSH only being tested. Tens of thousands of people around the world say the same thing. Just checking that all Thyroid tests were done, and interpreted correctly. Also check for hormonal imbalances...

Hi, I am curious - I didn't know there was a test for AS. For years I have had a problem with my sacro/lower back and physios and chiros have told me its 'fused' in a perculiar way. One physio described it as almost spina bifida but not ( she had my xrays at the time ).Now I have pain in my rib cage area - also a perculiar restriction. What is this gene...

Do a Google search on 'Iodine Breast Pain' and you may get some more info. There are tests to see if you are Iodine deficient - urine loading test most accuarte I believe. Lugols Iodine has had good success. Also do some reading on bio identical hormones , compounding chemists and saliva testings www.canaryclub.com Lots of reasons and sometimes serum...

Donna , Read up about Hashimotos Thyroid. Its autoimmune and linked to other autoimmune diseases like Celiac. Once you have Hashimotos - TSH testing is useless. You need Thyroid Antibodies tested and if they show up - you need a good medication like Armour Thyroid - to bring the Antibodies down to 0. My TSH was 1.1 and I had severe Hashimotos - lots of Antibodies...

Sorry to hear about your MS diagnosis. I have Celiac and Pernicious Anaemia . I urge you to read all you can about low B12 as the symptoms of that can mimic MS - even to the white lesions that show on MRIs. Sally Pacholok RN BSN has written an excellent book 'Could it be B12' which talks of the difficulty in getting low B12 correctly diagnosed and treated... -
This is my Big ???, as I have had about 5 Folate tests since being dx as Celiac , and all the Folate was perfect. Its suddenly got WORSE despite me eating gluten-free. So ... it WAS normal, and now its not. Ahhh...I had a huge mercury amalgam crack, and it was removed and tooth capped....about a month ago ....?????
-
Hi Marlene, So ..the folate tablets get absorbed OK but you are not absorbing folate from your food - is that how it seems ?I am still trying to see why I am 'worse' a year after being gluten free. How much folate do you take a day, and how often do you get re tested ? Is it forever - like Pernicious Anaemia ? Did your Folate Anaemia happen with PA, or come...

I have just been dx as folate deficient. Has anyone any idea if Celiac could be causing this ? I also have Pernicious Anaemia/ low B12. I was dx with that 12 months ago , and Celiac... and have been having B12 shots regularly , and regular tests for B12 & Folate. Folate until now has been perfect and high. If I am eating gluten-free now- does that...

ARCHIVED Bloodwork Back On Thyroids
georgie replied to num1habsfan's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Well firstly your Dr has it wrong re TSH. The recommended new range ( since 2003) for TSH is 0.3 - 3.0. You have probably suffered needlessly for years for your Dr to wait for a magic number to appear on his and the lab's old and out dated range. Open Original Shared Link Second - the TSH is a lousy test for HypoThyroid. Much better to test the levels... -
My hubbie is a new Type 2, and used to test 4x a day at first. Time and time again he found that potato was worse than eating a bowl of white sugar - even if balanced with protein and fat. We don't have it in the house now. Sweet potatoes don't have a reaction. He has all the data here somewhere but it was very clear that potato was a no-no.

Great news Kat. That Dr sounds perfect Now to 2x check - you are familiar with how to dose Armour ? Open Original Shared Link Those Antibodies are bad! I don't recall seeing such a high number! Ideally they should be 0. Are you on a good maitainance schedule for your PA ? Have you been checked for adrenal problems ? -
And this is from the Pernicious Anaemia Society. If you have neurological involvement then the BNF=Official UK BNF (British National Formulary) guidelines for GP's to follow is: In the UK, recommended doses for pernicious anaemia and other macrocytic anaemias without neurological involvement are hydroxocobalamin (or cyanocobalamin) 250 to 1000 micrograms...

This is the data sheet for Neo Cytamen 9 hydroxo) which is the official and only Australian B12 treatment. Notice it says this. For Addisonian pernicious anaemia and most other types of vitamin B12 deficiency anaemia, providing your nervous system is not affected, the usual dose is 250

I have ordered Sally Pocholak's book - Could it be B12 - and she has written that in cojunction with a Dr. And she says she has many pages of references in it. I don't know how you can change your Drs thinking. Can you threaten the risk of a malpractice action if he is later found to be wrong? Once B12 gets too low it can cause neuro symptoms. Once those...

I found I was eating a lot more carbs once I went onto a gluten-free diet. I have had to really watch my diet now, and eat more protein. I have had IR for years - trying desperately to avoid Type 2 Diabetes.

Can you remember how many weeks of weekly shots it took to build up the reserve , and that you could go to monthly ?
