ARCHIVED Celiac's And Diebetes-malabsortion Connection?
georgie replied to dally099's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
This thread is so interesting. I suffer from a few autoimmune conditions and am sitting here waiting for Diabetes to happen. Its not a nice thought. Since being gluten-free - I find that my Insulin Resistance seems worse. I am probably eating gluten-free foods that have too many carbs/ sugar. Does anyone else have this problem with gluten-free foods ? I... -
ARCHIVED celiac disease And Endocrine - Hypopituitarism, Adrenal Problems
georgie replied to Remi's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I would second what ksmith says but I noticed you said this You CANNOT dx HypoThyroid by just looking at the TSH. Were your Free T4 and Free T3 tested ? Thyroid Antibodies ?? I had a normal low TSH too ( 1.1), and 3 Drs last year were puzzled. I eventually found a Dr that had HypoThyroid herself, and she immediately tested me properly, and found I... -

What a silly Dr. I have PA, Celiac and Hashimotos Thyroid. All dx within a month by my Dr once she dx Hashimotos Thyroid. Of course they go together as they are all autoimmune diseases. If you have true Pernicious Anaemia you will need shots for life and a correct Loading Dose to start with as well. The Loading Dose( 2 x week) restores the liver reserves...

ARCHIVED Should I Ask For A Bone Scan From My Ortho Doc
georgie replied to little d's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I would. It maybe that the bone is weakened from the first break but better to check this out - than not. Also check serum levels of calcium and if too high - Parathyroidism. My cousin at 55 has fractured her kneecap by ONLY rolling her ankle over one day when walking. After 2 months it still wasn't getting better so now she is in a wheel chair for 2 more... -

ARCHIVED Australian Gluten Free
georgie replied to midnightjewel40's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
The trouble with the apple pies I had was the filling - the apple was barely recognisable as a Bramley apple ! It was like eating sugar, flavoured with essence I am having a hard time finding food to eat as I have Insulin Resistance and the sugar overload from these types of foods is too much. -
This is an old wives tale - but someone told me that if ice helps it ...its ligaments and that if ice hurts it ..its a break. Ice made mine hurt more ....

ARCHIVED Australian Gluten Free

I tried the Livwell Apple pies but didn't like them. Far too much sugar for my taste. Does anyone else find that gluten-free foods are extra high in sugar? -
ARCHIVED Lyme Disease Testing
georgie replied to georgie's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I will check into this but am thinking that its only done in USA and Canada. Drats -
Perhaps we need to start a Sore Knee Club or something ! Mine is sore here at the computer when I bend it, and that's been 3 weeks. About 4 years ago I had a chiro look at my knee and he was able to flick the patella into a better position ( I was having a few aches at the time ) but am too scared for him to look at it now - without xrays. The Dr said...

ARCHIVED Lyme Disease Testing
georgie replied to georgie's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Thanks ! Just reading it now. Is Western Blot the best test ? -
How do you feel now ? I did the same type of injury 3 weeks ago! I fell over a dog bed in middle of night SPLAT onto my kneecap on a slate concrete floor. Its been 3 weeks of limping and not getting better so I have an xray booked for this week. Don't delay getting an xray like I did - as they may want to brace your leg or something - now mine is a mess...

Does anyone know where is the best place for Lyme testing, and if samples could be shipped across country or from Australia? My hubbie has had tests done here in Australia for Ricketsia (?) but there is very little done for Lyme testing here. Dr agreed that testing would be a good idea and sent me off on a mission to find it ! ( she is a wonderful Dr and...

ARCHIVED Feeling bad (what Else Is New)
georgie replied to luckygfme's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Armour Thyroid is available in USA and around the world - sometimes under a different brand name. Its always been available. Its just that when the synthetics were discovered and made mid 60s - there was a big marketing push for them to be #1. Its not necessarily the best for some people but its good for the companies that make them Dosing isn't that hard... -
ARCHIVED Feeling bad (what Else Is New)
georgie replied to luckygfme's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
In Australia and NZ, Armour is called Natural Thyroid Hormone USP and is made to a Drs script at a Compounding Chemist.I believe in Canada it is called 'Thyroid'. I have just been to an Endo and he told me that NTH is made from cows , and is very inconsistent and unreliable. Luckily I knew that his was a RIDICULOUS statement and was able to tell him this... -
ARCHIVED Feeling bad (what Else Is New)
georgie replied to luckygfme's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Umm. YES !! You don't really need research Universities. You just need a Dr that understands Thyroid. My Dr has Hashis herself and did all her training AFTER med school for herself to start with, and now her patients. She did this training from the internet and conferences. Have you seen Hertoghe's conferences ? He works tirelessly to train Drs and... -
ARCHIVED Feeling bad (what Else Is New)
georgie replied to luckygfme's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Oh my goodness - another Endo that doesn't understand Thyroid !!!!!! No wonder you feel ill. You need Thyroid meds and many find that Armour Thyroid is the best med for them. This link explains Hashimotos, and may help you understand that the TSH is a USELESS test for treating Hashis. You need Thyroid meds to suppress the TSH and also suppress the Thyroid... -
You can't always dx autoimmune Thyroid without doing the Thyroid Antibodies testing !! My TSH was normal (1.1) and yet I had Thyroid Antibodies attacking and killing my Thyroid. It took me 30 years to be dx as all my Drs did was the TSH test. I hope you can find a Dr soon that can order the right tests for you. It must be so distressing to see your dd so...

I am no expert but that is still sounding like HypoThyroid to me. Were Thyroid Antibodies tested ? When you have autoimmune Thyroid - all labs are skewed and you can't dx by those labs. The height is a worry. I am thinking and I am getting a gut feeling here of secondary Hypo - from a pituitary problem. Has she been tested for that ? I am not sure what...

ARCHIVED Is Goat Cheese Safe?
georgie replied to alamaz's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
This site explains a bit. I am trialling small amounts of goats milk cheese at the moment , and it seems to be OK for me. Goats Milk is A2. And milk from Jersey cows is believed to be mostly A2 as well. A1 vs A2 milk Another aspect of the milk is whether the beta-casein component of the protein is A1 type or A2 type. Although it's not conclusive...
