How did you get to be a member of the Coeliac Society ? Our state says you need a dx from a Gastro and warns people of these 'fad' Drs that use the Gluten Challenge Diet as part of the dx process. I have found the most AMAZING bakery in Adelaide !!!!!!!!!!!!! All baked on the premises by a 3rd generation baker. I now have gluten-free and dairy free... -
ARCHIVED Celiac & Lactose Intolerance
georgie replied to JennyC's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I have just completed this. And I can say it made a huge difference to me. I lost some excess weight and also had lots more energy. Then I ate a chocolate Easter Bunny. I had no symptoms that day( unlike Gluten) so assumed I was OK. Two days later I was hit with this crippling bowel pain, and fatigue and that lasted for 2 days. It looks like I am dairy intolerant... -
Back from my day and a much happier person tonight ! I found the gluten-free bakery and have gluten-free pasties, sausage rolls, lamingtons, cup cakes, choc cake, choc peppermint slice, tacos, corn chips and lollies !!!!!!! And have found that they ship ! All hand made on the premises by a qualified cook. Also stocked up on nuts and other healthy goodies...

That's what I am feeling now. It feels like someone has punched me in the stomach. Have the tired foggy achey all over feeling too.

 I will have to remember that! I am not a big tuna fan - I used to have a favourite one but it was a flavoured type and has Gluten. But I can search for others and think about this. Its obvious I have to get back into the kitchen and start cooking ! Being Dairy Free makes it harder - I like quiches .....groan ... I hate cooking ....

There is an online shop and I have done an order but I guess I ran out of food before doing the order. It takes 3 days by post. And there are items in the city tthat the online shop does not have. I was looking forward to this day tomorrow shopping with Mum. But now I will be terrified of falling asleep and getting home safely. I guess its just the reality...

No runny nose or sneezing - just abdominal cramps and D. The potato chips were home made from potato and cooked at home in oil that is guaranteed gluten-free. Nothing else in my diet has changed - except for the dairy 2 days ago. I just wondered if cramping was a symptom ?

Is it normal to get a reaction to dairy 2 days after ? I have been dairy free now for about 3 weeks. I had some on Saturday and today have bad stomach and gut cramps and D. I also had potato chips last night and am not sure if its a new nightshade intolerance, or Dairy.

I have run out of food to eat ! I went into town to see what the local shop had - and it wasn't much. Not even a gluten-free muesli bar. Its a holiday so fruit and veg shop was shut. My hubbie ate the last of the cold meat without telling me. In desperation I bought a shop cooked chicken , ate a piece driving home, and then realised that it probably had gluten...

So its possible to recover from a dairy lactose problem ? Is it the same for dairy casein or is that life long like Celiac ? -
ARCHIVED Trigger Point Injection Therapy
georgie replied to dlp252's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I had a LOT of them. About 40 injections per session and 8 sessions. All my lower back, and down the leg muscle to my knees. The knee pain was cos the muscle/ligament was slack and the knee was rotating too much. So happy to have saved that 2nd surgery as the first op gave me a DVT and almost took my life. For me - anything is better than surgery! . -
My cousin just recently had this experience with an appendix op and bowel all wrapped and adhered. He has had symptoms of IBS all his life - probably 20 years - but now I am wondering about Celiac. He had blood testing in hospital after the op - but I still wonder. None of his family are taking me seriously. They think the blood test is accurate.

ARCHIVED Trigger Point Injection Therapy
georgie replied to dlp252's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I think mine cost about A$2000 altogether but it was worth every cent and more. I avoided TWO serious operations and have no pain even 3 years later. That is priceless. -
ARCHIVED Trigger Point Injection Therapy
georgie replied to dlp252's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I was given a few gentle stretching exercises but told no weights or impact training - like jogging or running. Walking when you could was OK.I lifted a bucket of water one day and suffered for it. How did you find the needles ? I hated it - and had so many near my spine or what felt like that to me. And the sore spots can be felt. Did you have a local anaethetic... -
ARCHIVED Trigger Point Injection Therapy
georgie replied to dlp252's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I forgot to say when I had mine I wasn't allowed to take any anti inflammatory pain meds like aspirin or arthritis drugs. Only paracetamol. And not allowed to lift heavy objects or run for 3 months after the last session of needles - to give ligaments time to heal. I also was given large dose VitC and Glucosamine meds. -
ARCHIVED Trigger Point Injection Therapy
georgie replied to dlp252's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I had this done for lower back and knee pain. Its called Prolotherapy here. Have you tried searching on that ? I was due to have a 2nd knee op due to the knee pain when someone told me about this. It has been GREAT! I had 8 sessions altogether. The Dr said I was about 5 years away from needing back surgery. He injected about 20 places each visit, and I haven... -
ARCHIVED Does Anyone Else Get Really Cold Feet And Hands?
georgie replied to DonnaD's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
How low was your Vitamin B12 ? What is it caused by ? If you have peripheral neuropathy caused by low B12 - oral supps probably are not for you. It means you may have a more severe B12 deficiency caused by Pernicious Anaemia or Gastritis or malabsorption and you need B12 shots for that. PN Can start when your B12 drops below 350. I have PA - an autoimmune... -

ARCHIVED Can Celiac Be Linked To Appendicitis ?
georgie replied to georgie's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Yes but is it normal to have it twisted around the bowel, the bowel to stop working and to be on a drip for 10 days ? I was thinking of Audrey Hepburn I guess - were her bowel cancer was inoperable cos of adhesions in her bowel. My cousin has had 20 years of bowel pain, IBS, inability to eat etc. Drs were always puzzled until this emergency. -
ARCHIVED Sub-laboratory Hypothyroidism
georgie replied to Ksmith's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I can't get the article to load at the moment but will go back to it. Important fact to remember re Thyroid tests is that previous to 1960 there were NO blood tests for Thyroid. Drs just looked at the patient and symptoms and if they thought you 'looked' HypoThyroid - they started a trial of Thyroid meds. Many may think they were the Dark Ages of medicine...
