  1. When you say your B12 is low normal - what was the # ? Peripheral Neuropathy can start when B12 gets <400 which is still 'in range' in some areas. My pins and needles responded to the B12 jabs almost immediately but as I have had such a late dx - I needed a very intense loading dose of weekly jabs, and now still need them 3 weekly. Your Ferritin is very...
  2. My cousin has just had an emergency appendix operation. The appendix was twisted around the bowel. He has been 10 days recovering in hospital on a drip. Starting to eat now. But I have been wondering if Celiac could be linked to this? He has had IBS all his life - unable to eat, cramps etc. I asked them if he had Celiac and they just said he had the tests...
  3. The ratio of Armour which is from pigs is very close to the ratio of our own thyroids. Very close. So if what the Endo was saying was true - we would all have problems in our bodies from our ( healthy) thyroids. A person with a normal working thyroid would have Frees incorrect as well - which is not true. FT3 has a short half life anyway. FT4 should be kept...
  4. Actually I think the Endo doesn't know what he is talking about but that is just my personal opinion. If you feel well on what you are taking - stick with it. Another site you may like to read - also discussing various meds - is www.thyroiduk.org Many may like this site better for explaining the facts of Thyroid illness.
  5. Yes - you would have to take my Armour away over my dead body ! Some people convert T4 to T3 OK. Synthroid is T4 only. So for some people that does work. But .... I have seen so many people with perfect Thyroid labs, on Synthroid and with Fibro pain, Cholesterol, etc. to wonder if they are really that well afterall. Perhaps some people don't even know how...
  6. Raise when symptoms return. Chart your temps. Pulse. Symptoms. You are still on a very small dose. Ave dose is 120mg (2 grains)and lots need more than that - up to 240mg or 300mg. A normal Thyroid produces about that.Check FT3 & FT4 levels. Read this page re dosing Armour. Open Original Shared Link Have you had adrenals tested ? Saliva testing...
  7. There are some people that do fine on T4 meds like Synthroid. Others need the T3 added. And others feel better on Armour. I am a bit confused about these 'proteins' that the Dr is talking of - triggering an autoimmune response. The formula of Armour is made to USP standards, and all ingredients are named. Does the Endo mean all animal proteins are bad - from...
  8. What are normal symptoms of a Dairy Intolerance ? How will I know when I reintroduce Dairy if I am intolerant? So far - have not had any positive signs of improvement except 'perhaps' some improvement in fatigue.
  9. Absolutely ! I live remotely too, and have agreat online shop. Their range is HUGE! I just ordered the swiss roll cake and its YUM and I am going to make a trifle with it using their gluten-free custard powder. Try gluten free shop without the spaces and com.au on the end. Just be aware that refrigerated items carry a higher freight charge.
  10. I lost weight starting gluten-free, then stopped. Now Dairy Free and losing weight really easily. I still have to watch carbs though.
  11. Yes - get all the tests. You can have a normal TSH but have Thyroid Antibodies which make you hypo/hyper. That's how my dx was missed for decades.
  12. Low temps are a good indicator of low Thyroid. It has all been documented by Broda Barnes and older Drs. Seems a forgotten science these days. 'Fine' is not a result. Its your Drs personal interpretation of a result. There are no black and whites in blood tests. There are borderline readings, changing border ranges, different ranges between labs, and...
  13. Perhaps you could. This is an Italian recipe that he converted. I asked him if it could be done without egg and he said that egg emulsifies(?) the fats and gives texture. He wondered if lecithin would have the same effect but that's often soy based (?) But I have had some recipes were you heat the milk a bit to cook the egg. He was just experimenting with...
  14. My hubbie has just made the most amazing dairy free icecream !!! Its based on Coconut cream !!!! He flavoured it with coffee and rum!! YUMMY ! His blog entry. Having only recently acquired our ice cream machine, it seemed a bit of a blow that my wife now has to trial a dairy-free diet. Sorbets are fine, but we both prefer the more fatty dish. As...

  16. Thanks for all your help. I am a bit confused myself as I am sure she said colonoscopy but perhaps I was wrong. But she was doubting me as she saw a top specialist about this. I will urge her to change Drs.
  17. I know someone that got this weird rash on her feet after changing her shampoo to an 'organic' one. When the red pustules appeared she immed thought of DH and changed her shampoo. Within weeks her rash disappeared.
  18. I met my friend today. She said she does NOT have Celiac Disease. Her blood tests were positive, but her colonoscopy was negative - and her Specialist told her she does NOT have celiac disease. I didn't think this was right so told her to read this site. Any words of wisdom anyone ? She has lots of symptoms of bloating and malnourishment ( super skinny...
  19. I have been gluten-free for 7 months and haven't lost a bit of weight. Now my Dr wants me to try the Dairy Challenge. Can anyone give me words of encouragement re weight loss after starting Dairy Free ?
  20. I know that the B12 is extremely low. It should be about 1000 in a healthy adult. I have Pernicious Anaemia & GI, and know that you need to keep your B12 boosted to feel well and prevent neurological damage. That can start with any # below 350. You could try sublinguals - and retest again in a few months. I imagine you need a loading dose of shots ( ...
  21. Thanks ! 2 days now and I start DF. I just have realised that means black coffee Is it common to have healing and go back to dairy?
  22. I would suggest a Dr that uses Armour and uses saliva testing. If you ring the saliva labs they may have Drs names that use their services. Also the same with pharmacies in your area. A Dr that is DO often seems quite good. Endos seem about the worst usually. They refuse to understand and treat adrenal fatigue, and don't understand borderline Thyroid readings...
  23. OMG I have horses and feed them and never even thought of this. Would corn hay & dust do that ? I am not riding them at the moment but handle them every day. I was only ever dx as Gluten Intolerant and have never had D - its more of a brain fog thing with me - and stomach pain now - when I ge accidentally Glutened. Hmm... I reacted to makeup recently...
  24. I have peripheral Neuropathy. I also have Hashimotos Thyroid and Pernicious Anaemia. After I started my B12 shots last year the PN would improve for afew days , worsen, then improve again after the shot. PN can be a symptom of PA , Diabetes and Celiac and other conditions. Not sure that I can say much more but be aware that PN can start when B12 is < ...
  25. {{{Hugs}}} Ursula, I think so many of us have this moment. When suddenly the answer is found and we can look back at our lives and feel trauma by what has happened. For me - I was in gasp shock horror for weeks as I read stopthethyroidmadness . My wonderful Dr put me back to reality by saying 'you are here now - that is all that matters'. I was never able...
