ARCHIVED Gluten, Thyroid And Adrenal
georgie replied to CaMaKe's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I know. I was dx 30 years ago as 'borderline ' and told it didn't matter !!!! As the range has changed 2x since then and about to change again - it was probably TSH of 6. My Dr told me that it was too high, and that was making me tired as its like a car engine revving too fast - it wears out I never even saw the paperwork. The Dr didn't even know that... -
ARCHIVED Thyroid Help Anti Tpo Is 757
georgie replied to CatandCanary's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Its not you that should feel confused - its your Dr. The most successful med to lower a TSH and lower Antibodies is Armour. Your Dr is young ? Most Drs trained in the last 40 years have no working knowledge of Armour, and like ostriches with their heads in the sand - refuse to even research it or update their training. I can only suggest you find another... -
ARCHIVED Gluten, Thyroid And Adrenal

I take Armour. I started with synthetics like you but soon wanted to switch, asked my Dr and she did. Endos are very conservitive and may not want to use a natural Thyroid med. If you go to this site it explains a lot. www.stopthethyroidmadness.com If you go to here Open Original Shared Link it has a list of Hypo symptoms that people had while taking Synthroid... -

This doesn't sound right. What meds are you on ? Synthetics ? Hashimotos WILL switch back and forth if the meds are not stopping and controlling those Antibody attacks. You need to stop those attacks before they destroy your Thyroid ( and your life). And being pregnant its even more important to stabilise your Thyroid. Hashimotos Thyroid is an autoimmune... -
ARCHIVED Thyroid Help Anti Tpo Is 757

A high TPO is usually a dx for Hashimotos Thyroid - an autoimmune thyroid. What did you Dr say? Are you on Thyroid meds ? If so , they are not controlling your antibody attacks. A high TPO means you have lots of Antibodies attacking your Thyroid. The TSH is not accurate at this stage. You need to dose to suppress the Antibodies before they totally destroy... -
ARCHIVED Thyroid Getting Worse
georgie replied to super-sally888's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I have thought of another book your Dr may like to read and research. Hertoghe , The Hormone Handbook. Its a book written for Drs . My Dr has a copy and raves over it. Its pricey - about $400 - but it covers what I have been saying in laymans terms - for a Dr. -

It would be interesting to see what that TSH was in 2000. You may find it was anything but 'normal'. The range has been changed since then and lowered - did you know that? Serum cortsiol may show a potential problem. But saliva is best. You can order that yourself. Can you get your Dr to read' Safe Uses of Cortisol'. Its a Drs text book. I would be... -
ARCHIVED Gluten, Thyroid And Adrenal

Cate, Do you have Hashimotos Thyroid ? The autoimmune one ? If you have that - the levels change , and your symptoms of hyper and hypo change - as the Antibodies attack. Its normal to have hyper and hypo symptoms - not all at once - but as 'episodes'. You can't treat Hashimotos by labs alone. You need a Dr that understands that, and how to treat you on symptoms... -
ARCHIVED Thyroid Getting Worse
georgie replied to super-sally888's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Sally, Those labs indicate you are still very Hypo. There can be 2 reasons for this at your stage of meds. One is that you are not taking enough Armour to rid the Hypo. Some people don't feel good until they are nearly at their optimum dose and that can be anything from 2 grains to 11 grains ! ( that person has had her thyroid removed ) Another reason... -

Its never to early for Easter Eggs I have been in touch with Haigh Chocolates - a SA company and they have sent a list of their gluten-free safe chocolates. If you mail them - they will send one out. ( its copyrighted). My big discovery today is that my makeup was Glutening me ! I mailed the company and sure enough - it has wheat in it. I am now onto... -
ARCHIVED Makeup
georgie replied to georgie's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I found out this morning that the makeup I have been using occasionally DOES contain wheat. I went on a hunt for a new makeup and have found an Australian company that makes mineral makeup just like Bare Escentials but at half the price. Its a small company and sounds very good. I have ordered a starter kit and can't wait for it to arrive ! -

ARCHIVED Australians And New Zealanders Hellooooooo :)
georgie replied to Aussie Peg's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Does anyone know if Easter Eggs are OK ? Cadbury, Red Tulip etc. And had a lightglobe moment re my trip to the city and a Glutening. I wore makeup! I checked and it has no ingredients on the bottle and I have thrown the box away. Its Jurlique which is all allergy tested - but its a discontinued line - so it makes me wonder now. -
Can Makeup cause a Glutening ? I rarely wear foundation now but do if I go to the city. Each time I have been glutened and now I wonder if its the makeup. Does that bizarre ? I have thrown away the box, and the product was from a natural allergy free compnay - but they have discontinued that product. So now I am wondering ... I have emailed them - but thought...

I had the latte. I don't remember cocoa on it. The cake was a slice of a log cake in their cooler cabinet. Thinking since and it may have cc issues from the cutting board or the tongs ? Would that be it ? Are Wendys milkshakes usually served with malt ? I said 'no malt' but he may not have heard me - as I didn't say gluten-free in a loud voice. In future... -

Thanks ! Its helps a lot. I may be going to UK next year and I am stressing about the food already ! It seems supermarkets in UK have gluten-free but is it easy to find in bakeries and pub meals ? I have been Glutened by a day in the city 2 days ago. All I had was a Wendy's milkshake, and a Gloria Jean cake & coffee. I noticed the cake wasn't shrink... -
The TSH is standard throughout the world I believe. The different lab ranges you see are the different interpretations they use on it. ie - whether 2% of the population is out of range or 4% or 6% etc. The ranges have been lowered at least 2x in the last 30 years that I know of - and are still under review. Many people feel that by only treating 4% of people...

Lower back pain can be a few things but low adrenals can do that. They sit on the kidneys and complain when they are tired. You need saliva tests and a Dr that can interpret them. stopthethyroidmadness have an adrenal forum too.

Much safer than letting her suffer HypoThyroid. Yes - Hypo affects kids. They need treatment just like us. How are her temps ? Sara, If you came to see my Dr you would be put onto Armour immediately ! A friend had a TSH of 2.2 WITH symptoms and started on Armour and is up to 4 3/4 grains. The blood tests are not accurate. You can have ahuge problem...

Yes, I take HC for adrenals. My adrenals are trashed. I was HypoThyroid for 30 years without meds. Working fulltime. I ran on adrenalin to survive. Its been 6 months so far and hope to heal my adrenals but there is a real possibility that they are permanently damaged. My major symptom of low adrenals came a week or so after starting Armour. I came over with...

K, You need to get to a Dr that understands Thyroid. TSH is too high.It should be about 1.0. Most new good Thyroid Drs treat TSH> 2 as Hypo Thyroid. And you are showing Thyroid Antibodies. ANY Thyroid Antibodies is not good. I have been told that 10% of people with Thyroid Antibodies never show them ona test. Sara, Much the same story except...

I was dx at 47 and its a mystery to me too why I didn't know about this sooner! My cholesterol was high but has come back to normal as I am now taking Armour Thyroid for low Thyroid. Armour is known to lower cholesterol - so that is one good side effect from having low Thyroid! Being able to take Armour Have you been tested for Thyroid as well ? Autoimmune...
