georgie replied to squirt2476's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I love M & Ms but thought I checked and they were not OK. Are the Australian M& Ms different to the USA ones ? Chocolate covered in candy? -

Thanks. Everyone has been really helpful and I am motivated to try again. I had a gluten-free disaster when guests were here and I am not confident about converting recipes now. But one question - what is corn starch ? I have found a site in Aust that sells potato starch and tapioca starch and the various flours but not corn starch. Is starch necessary or...

ARCHIVED Who Has Thyroid Issues
georgie replied to cause&effect's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
There is a few of us now Its the Antibodies that will damage your thyroid and shut it down. Keep a watch on your health and levels. The current idea is to suppress the antibody activity and Armour has the best record for that. But Armour won't work properly if you have adrenal fatigue. So its all a bit of a saga But it can be controlled. -

Are you taking them with food? Multi dosing ? I have heard of it. There are a few extras in Isocort which upset a few. Also they are not as consistent batch to batch as regular hydrocortisone. If they are working for you I would try to find a Dr that understands adrenal fatigue. You shouldn't stay on Isocort too long due to the echinaecea in them I have been... -

ARCHIVED For Those W/ Hypothyroid Experience
georgie replied to Nevadan's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I followed sttm guidelines for dosing Armour and adrenal, and found it quite good. Its all come from old text books and Drs - so is an easy guide if you can't get to read dozens of books and research papers. I think that 15mg is a baby dose and is meant to be increased every 15 mg when symptoms return. In the early stages that may mean every week or so. The... -
ARCHIVED For Those W/ Hypothyroid Experience
georgie replied to Nevadan's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I have always used blood tests for thyroid and saliva tests for hormones and adrenals. I have heard good and bad reports re thyroid saliva testing. Regardless of the test there are always false negatives and positives - so other symptoms such as body temps and extreme fatigue should also be taken into consideration. You need a Dr that looks at the total picture... -
The recipe has flour. You melt butter & onion and then add flour to make a choux, and then add milk and cheese and tuna & corn. So I really need a replacement for the flour. I just wondered if anyone had tried it. I will just have to experiment.

ARCHIVED Are There Always Blisters?
georgie replied to Sharon C.'s topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I have never been formally dx with Celiac but have done really well since going gluten-free, and get incredible G symtoms when I get accidentally Glutened. I also had 2 rashes that appeared last year and they were perfectly symmetrical but did not have blisters. The red lumps looked more like mosquito bites and the skin around was grey ,thickened and scaley... -
ARCHIVED Whining About Weather
georgie replied to grantschoep's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Send your snow here ! We have the worst drought in recorded history affecting most of Australia! Water rationing is in place - gardens are dying. We are not allowed to use water for gardens at all. Farmers have no income. There is barely enough fodder for livestock. Yesterday was 105 F .We are hoping that El Nino finishes this year. As I type we have a howling... -
How much vapour is free when just drinking hot drinks or by hot food? And if the old mercury amalgams are being repaired - should that be done under certain safety conditions? Is the metallic taste - a sign of mercury vapour ? Still trying to work this out

ARCHIVED Addison Disease In Relation To Celiac Disease
georgie replied to Lisa's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I don't know a lot about Addisons but I have adrenal insufficency which some Drs say is an early stage of Addisons. AI is very common with low Thyroid - not sure about Celiac. I just had the salt craving and low blood pressure, and pain a bit like Fibromylagia. I was tested for AI by a blood test and also saliva testing. Addison -

I have emailed Wendys so will let you know. I don't know about McDonalds as I don't eat there. Have you tried emailing them? Cathy - NZ looks dry ! Is that North Island ? Its really dry here too and we are onto Stage 3 water restrictions here in SA. -
Lisa, I really think you should go to ER right now. Clots are nothing to be casual about. We may all be over reacting here but your symptoms worry us. Tomorrow may not be soon enough. Please go 'now'. Make sure they do an ultrasound and D Dimer blood test.
