ARCHIVED How Do You Cope With Asperger's People At Christmas?
georgie replied to georgie's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I don't know if a screen could be built that would work. But we may be able to convert a spare bedroom and have it used as a study. That could then be linked by a normal door to living areas. So - that could work. One thing I haven't understood is his inflexibilty to work in other areas of web design. He only does business applications and refuses to... -
ARCHIVED Still Trying To Figure Things Out

Not all Drs know how to dx and treat thyroid. Your Dr still hasn't tested Free T3 or Antibodies. You may find like me that the T4 is 1.0 over the line into being normal and the Antibodies are high. If your Dr doesn't even test - you will never know. Did you know that before 1970 that there weren't any blood tests for thyroid ?? So - they are still learning... -

I think you are right there but its possible that other hormonal inbalances could be at work - influenced by the sick thyroid. Or adrenal issues. Adrenal fatigue isn't recognised by many Endos.. They only know Addisons and Cushings and don't believe in slight inbalances. And remember that Autoimmune Thyroid as in Hashimotos - can and often does swing between... -

Nicole, TSH > 2 is VERY much possible for HypoThyroid. You must realise that TSH is not the best test for Thyroid. It tests the pituarity hormone which loops into the thyroid hormone but its not 100% accurate. Secondary Hypo is more common that suspected. Lab tests are not black and white. On either side of the 'normal' line you are getting shades... -
ARCHIVED How Do You Cope With Asperger's People At Christmas?
georgie replied to georgie's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
 Oh yes ! I think part of his Christmas problem is the conformity of it all - having to eat turkey and do this, and do that ! I may be able to get him more enthusiastic if the food was brilliant and exciting. Its just a lot of work for one person ( me ) to do everything and be a social butterfly as well. Too late to change the house plan -

Thanks for the links. Will check them out. One mistake I think I have made with this house is that its all open space. hmm. AS people would like lots of rooms to hide in ? He can look after the dogs - I just miss them if I am always away. Not much in the way of restaurants here, or supermarkets. Interesting to see that you have a choice of menu. Here... -

Nicole, That lab range is wrong. The new range is 0.5 - 3.5, and even that is under review and anything >2 is now considered HypoThyroid ! My husband had a TSH = 2.2 and having full Thyroid treatment for Hypo ! Please do your research on this. Also - you need FREE T4, FREE T3 tested to show how much T hormone is actually circulating in the blood.... -
ARCHIVED Do You Ever Get Nerve Pain Like This? And Why Am I Getting This Now?
georgie replied to Sarah8793's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have lots of nerve tingles in my feet and hands. My legs feel numb from knees down. I have very low B12, and need injections every month. I was doing better on weekly injections - so may have to go back to Dr and ask what to do. -

ARCHIVED How Do You Cope With Asperger's People At Christmas?
georgie replied to georgie's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Nancym,The trouble with xmas is that my mum is elderly and I am the only daughter and my 2 brothers are helpless too. What sort of foods did you prepare before? Sounds a good idea. Ursula, All helpful info. I didn't realise that moving objects was also stressful. That would explain why he was upset when I moved his book and pen to dust yesterday ( moved... -
ARCHIVED Bread & Butter Pudding
georgie replied to georgie's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
And it can be made savoury by adding chopped sauteed bacon and cheese. Or as a sweet - extra sweet with apricot jam etc Guess I will just try it and see.The bread used to go all mushy anyway - so can't see why gluten-free bread wouldn't work. -

Whoa. Did they test everything for Thyroid or just TSH ? I must have had 100 thyroid tests as normal but found out after 30 years that they were only testing TSH. Get your paperwork ...... 3x check what your Dr has done .... -

ARCHIVED Ok - Christmas Gluten Gifts Whinge Time
georgie posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am newly dx as Celiac. And this is my first Christmas. How do you cope with Christmas gifts given by family that have Gluten and are totally useless !! All my favourite food is here on the table and I can't eat it !! -
That sounds reasonable. At least your Dr is watching and monitering you. But it would be nice to see how borderline those results are. Can you do that without upsetting the Dr ? And if you have autoimmune Thyroid like Hashimotos for eg - your blood levels change quite a bit from time to time anyway. The autoimmune attacks when they happen - cycle a bit. So...

ARCHIVED Omg...i Might Be On To Something
georgie replied to Rachel--24's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Laura, Great news that you found a Dr you think you can trust ! I had 10 vials of blood taken at my first appt too - awesome - isn't it . Was B12 tested ? That can go with Hashimotos too. I have to have an injection every 3 weeks for the rest of my life. Does your Doc work with Armour ? Adrenal testing ?I am not sure how my Hashis started but remember a... -
My original Dr told me that re my thyroid and I suffered CFS and Fibro needlessly for years. He was my family Dr and I trusted him too. I don't know... It depends if you want to wait for your results to get worse or start treatment now....You may have to shop for a new Dr that believes in treatment at the first sign of a problem.

If it was me I would just get the paperwork. I wish I had a $ for everytime I have heard 'it was normal' and found that it wasn't. Get the paperwork and do your own research. Our Dr gives us all the paperwork automatically & free.
