  2. Emergency appendix op aged 11. I mean ER. It was ready to burst. Dr came to home to see me as I had been ill for 2 days in bed. That was 7pm. By 8pm I was in hospital. I was so ill I could not walk by this time and was carried into hospital. I was pretty out of it. Funny but had been thinking about this recently. My brothers teased me after surgery...
  3. Have you checked for hyperparathyroids? Open Original Shared Link How are your calcium tests? Have you had parathyroid tested ? Vitamin D and It's Relationship to Hyperparathyroidism Low Vitamin D, Vit D is low in blood.Hyperparathyroidism is associated with high calcium in the blood. The cause is a parathyroid tumor. This is discussed...
  4. I looked at Sami's Bakery but I am super sensitive and would be concerned about eating a gluten-free product from shared baking facilities. They seem to use quite a lot of wheat flour. I love Italian so will check how close that is..Thanks.
  5. Thanks! This looks really nice. Do you eat there often and is the food safe from flour dust/ cc ? I am very sensitive. I don't know a lot about Spanish food - does it normally have onion?
  6. Dr Norman says it is NEVER normal to have high calcium. And it will make you feel just plain ill. Iodized calcium presents more data... and the matching PTH level.
  7. Regular blood tests for calcium, iodized calcium and parathyroid ( PTH) show the picture. You may need weekly repeats. Do you think your Dr will be able to do that ? You can have hyperpt with only slightly high calciums... and if the PTH is normal but too 'high normal'... So make sure you get all 3 tests done at the SAME blood draw. If your calciums are...
  8. My father and brother have Gout. I have Celiac. I don't know. My family are non believers about Celiac and will not be tested.
  9. I noticed you had low Vit D and after initially feeling better with treatment - you then felt worse. Have you ever considered and been tested for Hyperparathyroidism? You may find these articles interesting.. Hyperparathyroidism unmasked by the treatment of hypothyroidism secondary to Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Calandra DB, Shah K, Lawrence AM,...
  10. Does anyone know of gluten-free restaurants and grocery stores in Downtown Tampa? We will not have a car but there is a Hotel shuttle bus for 2 mile radius. Or is it better to stay near International Mall ?
  11. Hydroxocobalamin 1000mg every 2 weeks or when needed. Deep muscle IM lasts a bit longer than sub cutananeous. Sublinguals are very mild for me and are only a mild 'top up'. They seem to let me survive an extra day or two before the next injection. If using high dose B12 you need regular blood tests and checks on folate.
  12. Just keep fighting for what you believe...
  13. T3 made all the difference to me ( and thousamds of others). No one takes it away from me....They would have to wrench it from my dead hands.. I prefer the tablets of T3 to the compounded. Just my experience is that I absorb the tablets better than capsules. Take your Dr facts and insist on a trial. Don't ask but demand. The Dr is there to work...
  14. Hey - you should have met my bachelor brother Maybe you can get food parcels sent over from your Melbourne friend. Or plan a holiday! Make sure you bring lots of peanut M & Ms though Our M & Ms have gluten!
  15. I started FODMAP 2 months ago and love it. I was tested to be lactose intolerant and fructose intolerant. I was having a severe onion reaction when I saw the Dr so fructans was also dxed. I know I react to sorbitols. Please check Sue's info re to dairy. Lactose free is re to FODMAP and this means that you can eat hard cheese, butter and cream...
  16. Perhaps you need Cytomel as well as levothyroxine. Some people do. Another idea would be to check parathyroids. ( calcium levels and parathyroid levels) to see if there is any problem there. PTH can be tricky to measure so you can have fluctuating levels and therefore need a few tests done to be sure. Open Original Shared Link
  17. That is my worry too. That all these people doing gluten-free on a casual basis because it is 'trendy' are making it look bad for those of us that have Coeliac and need to be zero Gluten. I have just had 3 days on the couch as a shop sold my hubbie some 'gluten-free' biscuits. ( that were not 100% gluten-free). When he rang back to ask and eventually...
  18. Sue Shepherd has some great cookbooks as well. Have you found her site ? Open Original Shared Link I am new to this also - only 2 months ago. I really urge you to try hard cheese. Dairy is so important and I went dairy free for 2 years and severely regret it. I am lactose intolerant only but thought I was casein. I cannot tolerate whey either but normal...
  19. I am not sure if I understand. What fruit are you eating ? Most fruit is off the FODMAP diet. I am Celiac + FODMAP myself. Is there a reason for being Dairy Free ? FODMAP does not promote Dairy Free. If you react to lactose ( as per testing ) then you need Lactose Free which is another thing altogether. Hard cheese has virtually no lactose. Cream...
  20. Perhaps you need to be tested for FODMAP. You may be reacting to the fruit. Or Fructans.
  21. Thanks - this is really helpful. I have found the French Coeliac Society's list and can print it off and take it to the store and now read the ingredients. As for the wheat glucose syrup - that is safe according to Australian Coeliac Society. It is the caramels and wheat starch that may be hidden in sweets that I need to know about.
  22. Hi, I was told at the store not to buy some Macarons ( made in France ) as they had suspect ingredients. Can anyone tell me the risk ingredients to look out for in France ? Like Starch ? What is that in French? And if the label just says starch does that mean it is NOT from wheat sources ? In Australia all wheat sources have to be declared ( independent...
  23. I see you had yours dxed in 2004. How did the dr dx it? What treatment is there for it. Can stress make a difference? I had some stress last week and the rash started and grew and grew. Now today - less stress - and improving slightly. Lots of thick skin/silvery scales .... I will try the gloves but now hubbie has reminded me the rash started before...
  24. I have a new rash It is on my hand and between the fingers and over the knuckles. It looks like pics of psoriasis but I wonder if it could be DH ? Previously before my gluten-free diet I had a rash like DH on my legs... red spots/blisters, circular, symmetrical. That rash went away with the gluten-free diet. Now this new rash has started and...
