ARCHIVED Who Has Thyroid Issues
georgie replied to cause&effect's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Loraleena , this is what happened to me. My TSH was normal and they did no other tests. After I read stopthethyroidmadness I went back and demanded ALL the tests. I could barely talk or swallow by this time. In the confusion ( Dr got very angry with me) she STILL didn't do Antibodies. It happens all the time. My Mum has a husky voice now and her Dr tested... -
ARCHIVED Who Has Thyroid Issues

I was dx with Hashimotos Thyroid this year after battling ill health for 30 years. I had blood tests that showed something wrong 30 years ago but my Dr said it was OK. I have suffered terribly with CFS, EBV, and Fibro pain. So .... a huge Goitre growing this year, couldn't swallow food etc, and I changed Drs 3x to find an answer. http:www.stopthethyroidmadness... -

Does the gum have Gluten ?? I can second this. Make sure Thyroid Antibodies are tested. You can have a normal TSH and Antibodies which means you have an autoimmune disease type of low Thyroid. Many cases of 'CFS' are in fact undx low Thyroid. You have to find a Dr that understands Thyroid and Endos have the reputation for being about the worst. -

This has happened to me. I have been snacking on gluten-free cookies and having a wonderful time Now my last blood test for Insulin Resistance has come back 0.2 higher !!! I am back to my normal diet pre Celiac ...just w/out the gluten. NOT with added extra rice flour, sugar, tapioca flour ,sugar etc I am still losing weight but that is probably the new... -

I can't work out these buttons either They even moved the smilies ! Synthroid does that a lot. Before the internet and these opportunities to chat and research - most people didn't have a clue that nearly everyone else was having the same problems. Before Synthroid there was something that used to work beautifully. Armour. Then a rumour was spread... -

My mother had that happen. She woke up and didn't know who she was , or where she was , or anything at all. It was really scary. Mums improved. She had to go back to bed for a long deep sleep of 20 hours ( drug induced ) and then when she rewoke she was lots better. There is a name for it - can't recall it now. Does that sound like your aunt ? Mum's happened... -

No Probs Rachel, But just want to point it out for the others here too. I am not sure what boards you were on but know that from the 5 I am on - that it happens a lot. We are prob talking of 1000s. Hertoghe always suspects and treats adrenals. But many Endos don't - hence the problems. Seem to recall that wasn't a Free T3 test ? TSH is a pituitary... -

Hi Susie, Did you get that good Dr info I sent you re Thyroid. Low temp + symptoms can still mean low Thyroid despite your labs. Lots of confusion about this but from my Dr - "blood tests should not be taken as biblical'. Broda Barnes, Hertoghe, stopthethyroidmadness, yahoo groups. Plenty of info out there. How much is it to fly to Belgium ? Hertoghe is... -
If you test positive ( >20) to a Thyroid Antibodies test you have autoimmune Thyroid. Its usually Hashimotos. Graves is another one but many Drs misdx that one - as Hashis can go hyper sometimes too. Hashis swings between hypo and hyper as the Antibodies attack the thyroid. These attacks can be weeks, months years apart. Do you ever remember having a hyper...

Its a natural remedy seeking Dr that may think outside the square.Does it stand for Osteopath ?? I beg you to be more proactive than this. You may miss one crucial test that may leave you eating a special diet for years needlessly ! There are quite a few tests for thyroid and lab ranges can be interpreted incorrectly. They did for me - for 30 years...

I was able to get my hypoglycemia under control by a strict eating pattern. You need to keep a food diary. After a while you will recognise foods that make you ill. For me - even fruit would trigger an attack. I had to eat small amounts of protein every 2 hours. A good book is 'The Insulin Resistance Diet' by Drs Hart & Grossman. Its protein every couple...

Soy is considered a goitrogen food and should be used in moderation in adults and never for infants. Goitre and hypothyroidism were reported in infants fed soybean diets until the early 1960's (23). In fact recent reports indicate that thyroid disorders may be attributable to feeding soy-based infant formulas (24-25). Further, a study on 37 adults showed...

ARCHIVED I Am Now Treated For Low Thyroid
georgie replied to Ursa Major's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Its very interesting. Lyme crops up on the Thyroid lists quite a bit too. The few that have both seem to say that they need Thyroid 100% beore they can kill off Lyme. Its a bit of a chicken and egg story really Its interesting that one cure for Lyme ( Vit C and sea salt ) is also a cure for adrenal insufficency which is common with Hypo. All a vicious... -

, Tiffjake, Will PM some info to you. Armour is a superior med to Thyroxine. Its hard to explain to some Drs so you need a Dr that cares and is willing. But 10000s of patients stories all confirm that used correctly it is far superior. Its needs adrenals checked as it won't work if you have adrenal insufficiency.Armour has been around since 1900. The... -
This didn't work for me as I got over 30. I now realise it was probably hypothyroid as well. BUT ...a banana for morning tea made me gain 2 kg in a month ! And returning to cheese instead made me lose the 2kg. If I ate a meal without protein I would fall over faint within 2 hours. I was Reactive Hypoglycemic. To lose weight with RH and before Hypo meds...

For me sorting out my HypoThyroid and Adrenal Fatigue sorted out my Fibro pain properly ! My blood tests for Thyroid were always wrong but it took a good Dr to work out why Before I found this good Dr and learnt from STTM - I used to have acupuncture to relieve the pain. It used to work great for a few days. It was Chinese acupuncture which meant that...

Hypothyroid can make you have low temps. You had your Thyroid nuked and then have replaced it with 1/3 of what a healthy thyroid produces. That won't be helping you get well. You need a healthy thyroid to fight infections. -

Can we have the recipe ???? Most folks still think gluten-free is a weirdo complaint. I know my family does. I am sure my 2 brothers should be tested but they are in complete denial about it. They say they feel better without too much bread but they keep eating it ! -

Welcome ! Good luck with your test. My blood test was negative but my Dr insisted I still do the Challenge Diet. I did and soon became aware I was GI ! I have been glutened 3x since and get SEVERE reactions so I am still puzzled by my negative blood test but have read that can happen. Not sure - have never tried that mix. But my hubbie makes bread... -

All I am trying to say is that you mentioned you had low adrenal function, and that you get hyper symptoms when you raise to a fairly normal Armour dose. I am trying to say that those hyper symptoms can also be low adrenal symptoms. If you happy with the dose you are thats fine. I didn't say 'no labs' but you need a Dr that is fairly understanding of labs... -
