  1. That's what I hear every day on the Thyroid Lists. One lady nearly died and her weight went to 200lbs and her hair fell out, and she said she was dying. I guess some people can't handle Synthroid. Getting Drs to prescribe an alternative is hard. Especially a natural one Most of these people that get so ill just stagger to a thyroid site and get cured by...
  2. I have 3 autoimmune diseases and only found my Celiac/GI this year after the Dr dx autoimmune Thyroid. Unfortunately in my case the Thyroid dx came 30 years too late and there is irreversable damage to that organ. I am lucky I was dx when I was as the nodules would have grown and then the Thyroid removed which is a fate worse than death I believe. I am 4...
  3. How did you find that out ? Its a very common situation at 3 grains to have that effect and its a low adrenal symptom. The adrenals if weak can't cope with all the good Armour floating around. A normal Thyroid produces about 8 - 10 grains equiv I think. So as you have no function I can't believe that you are optimised at 1 1/2 grains. Ave dose is 2 ...
  4. I was blood tested for Celiac after my Thyroid dx. It was negative but Dr still insisted I try the Gluten Free Trial. I actually argued with her - as I thought I was OK. After 2 weeks gluten-free I reacted to Gluten horribly. So ..its too late now for biopsy and I don't care. I know I can't eat Gluten.
  5. Lots of folks get heart palps when taking Armour and trying to increase to the correct dose which is when the pm temp is normal, and the Hypo symptoms go away. Therefore lots never get to take the correct amount. Weak adrenals give heart palps and that is common with Hypo folk. So correcting the weak adrenals allows more Armour to be used to rid the person...
  6. Kathy Ann, This statement makes me puzzled. Do you mean your Thyroid levels go hyper sometimes and hypo othertimes ? Hashimotos Thyroid does that. The labs are nearly useless once the Antibodies are found - as the TSH goes up and down as the Thyroid dies. And Adrenals can go hyper if you are stressed at the time of the test. Was it a blood test ?Once...
  7. I have tried to read as much as I can. Lots of it is still to sink in Fatigue of course and and many other symptoms fit but that could be said for a lot of reasons so can't really find proof for his Dr yet. The hypothalamus going crazy seems to be his most outstanding symptom.
  8. Can anyone tell me if erratic temperature is an indicator for Lyme ? Hubbie has HypoThyroid, Adrenal issues but his temps are not normal. They can swing from 35.4 in the morning to 37.4 a few hours later. If its a hot day - he gets a fever. If its a cold day he gets chilled. I have been reading all his old blood tests and he hasn't even been tested for Lyme...
  9. Thanks for this chocky sweets thread. I have got ill with what feels like tonsillitis ( tonsils removed but feels like that) and in my feverish state could only remember you saying that Flake & Twirl were OK. I was collapsing with hunger and can't swallow - so that bit of choc and Sweets icecream and fresh orange juice has saved me.I always get sick on...
  10. Barbra, Synthroid has a reputation for keeping Thyroid people still sick. If you can make the switch to Armour and find a Dr that knows how to dose it ( keep increasing meds slowly until symptoms go away and a PM temp is 98.6).....you may be able to join the 1000s that have regained their health thanks to their own detective work. $ynthroid they call it...
  11. Susie, You may want to check this further. The synthetic Thyroid meds do this - get the lab results looking normal but do not stop all the symptoms of Hypo. The natural Thyroid meds contain all the T hormones in correct amounts and seem to work better. There is lots of info available about all this now available on the web. Have you tried sublingual B...
  12. I know ! I joined a Fibro yahoo group and I can't believe it ! People that so much in pain but just taking more and more pain meds and narcotics. When I tried to post about the Fibro & Thyroid connection I was moderated off ! Many on the List are on Synthroid which is proven not to work that well - but refuse to listen to alternative natural Thyroid meds...
  13. Thanks Rinne, My hubbie has many of these symptoms which are still there after thyroid treatment and adrenal treatment. But he has never had the major symptoms of Lymes like a rash or joint pain. He is in Aust now and Drs here are not very aware of Lymes as we don't seem to have it or have a different strain. However, he lived in Eng and France...
  14. Rinne, I am severely deficient in B12 and found the sublinguals weren't strong enough. They are meant to work as good as shots - but feel that they didn't. Anyone, What are the symptoms of chronic Lymes? Trying to read this thread but its long Hubbie is ill, and is being tested for everything but in Aust Lymes is so rare that Dr hasn't done...
  15. My TSH was 1.1 and Drs kept saying it was normal. My Goitre grew so rapidly that I couldn't swallow food so I knew there was something wrong and refused to listen to those Drs and kept searching. That's when I found STTM and found that my Drs - by just testing my TSH alone - had robbed me of 30 years of healthy life. I don't look back as its too upsetting...
  16. I seem to remember reading of lots getting heart palps with Armour and its when there adrenals are weak and fatigued. Check with your Dr if worried but also check adrenal function.
  17. My B12 was 248 and Dr did weekly shots for 6 continuous weeks with me. Perhaps you need more B12?
  18. TSH is a lousy test for Thyroid. You can have a normal TSH and still be Hypo. And the range has changed in the last few years anyway and many Drs and labs are not using the new range. Any TSH>2 is considered Hypo by astute Drs. The best tests for Thyroid are FREE T4, and FREE T3 ( which should both sit mid range or high range normal) and ANTIBODIES (...
  19. Rachel, I know nothing about Lymes as we don't seem to have it here. We have no ticks at all. Jury is still debating whether Sydney ( which has ticks in the wildlife and bush)has it , or a variant of it. But I can comment on Thyroid in so much to say that having Thyroid weakens your immune system if you are not on the right meds. I notice you had Graves and...
  20. OMG ! I was cruising past and what girl wouldn't stop when she saw this thread ! Thanks for the link ! I may be going to Paris next year myself and have been ( quietly ) stressing about it. Just going in to check the link now. Does it include regional France ?
  21. Fiddle Faddle - I don't know much about Lyme's Disease but will have a look. Its either very rare in Australia or non existant depending on different research. Its certainly non existant where I live as we have no ticks. They do around Sydney but they are still working out if they carry Lymes. Where is the OMG thread ?
  22. Shawn, If symptoms of Hypo have come back and your temps are low its time to increase the Armour. Does your Dr understand this? You dose Armour according to symptoms and labs take second place. I am now at 240mg after 5 months of gradually increasing the dose and will probably need more. I know some that need 360mg. Are you multi dosing ? You may need adrenals...
  23. Jebus, A lot of people take Synthroid and say they are fine, and lots take Armour and say the same thing. But there are lots of people that take Synthroid and only feel a bit better and not 'brand new'. Sadly sometimes these folks don't know that they havea choice. I tried synthetic T3 and had a bit of improvement but not a lot. Since starting Armour...
  24. You are scaring me. How do I know if its psoriasis or DH ? Its VERY itchy sometimes but not all the time. It seems to flare up and then go dormant. It started 3 months ago when I was dx with Hashis Thyroid but before my GI dx and gluten-free diet.
  25. I found it talked about on a Thyroid yahoo list.
