Firstly. The lab range for TSH is 0.5 - 3.0 now and your Dr and lab are using old refernces. Most good Drs start to treat Hypo as TSH >2. Read this and Print for your Dr to read. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link There are also many doctors, general practitioners and even endocrinologists who are still routinely diagnosing and...

Yup. Sounds Hypo. Warrants further testing. Have you read STTM ? It lists all the tests you need for Thyroid.

Autoimmune diseases can happen together and there are types of autoimmune Thyroid so - yes - you can have both. I have. I found the HypoThyroid first and had to fight 3 Drs to get a dx and proper treatment. This Dr was so good she knew of the link between Thyroid and Celiac and B12 and tested me for those as well. My signature has a link. That is where I...

ARCHIVED Link Between Celiac And Dvt?
georgie replied to Katja's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
That's strange. I had a blood clot after minor knee surgery and was found to have FVL which is a genetic condition which leads to blood clots. I am also Protein C. I have just found out that I am GI and probably Celiac. I take Nattokinase to prevent further blood clots. Seems to work as I had a minor PE after I stopped taking Nattokinase once. Once I started... -
Yes, I think malabsorption plays a big part. I was tested for Vit D and was low in that and needed supplements to boost that. And Vit D is vital in calcium metabolism. I am hoping the calcitonin I get from my Armour Thyroid meds will take care of the rest. I have always avoided dairy ( except for cheese) as I have long heard that it is not identical enough...

ARCHIVED Any Way It Is Celiac?
georgie replied to miko920's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Make sure your Dr and lab are using the new ranges for Thyroid. And are you sure they did all the Thyroid tests including Antibodies? A TSH > 2 is considered Hypo these days but some Drs are still using TSH>3 or TSH > 5 as normal. And you can have a normal TSH but loads of Antibodies which means you have autoimmune Thyroid. I got tested 3 x... -

ARCHIVED Very Interesting Study On Celiac And An Increased Risk Of Thyroid Cancer.
georgie replied to frenchiemama's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Scary stuff. All the more reason for me to keep taking my Iodine. I also have Pernicious Anaemia ( low B12) and that is autoimmune too, and also carries an extra risk of stomach cancer. It appears that having an autoimmune disease is bad news .... -
ARCHIVED Australians And New Zealanders Hellooooooo :)
georgie replied to Aussie Peg's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I have just had an email back from the Streets company with a pdf of every icecream ! Call me the icecream expert now Blue Ribbon is gluten-free. Not sure what that means re me. Does that mean I have a dairy problem as well ? Or could I have been still reacting to the glutening I had a week earlier. Does it ? Yikes! -
ARCHIVED Thyroid Nodules And Possible Cancer.
georgie replied to frenchiemama's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Carolyn, This is the reply from my friend. I have just read your last mail.... agree that it doesn't sound good but anyway - read Sam's mail. You will need good replacement Thyroid med if you take the surgery option. Sam can help you with that too. ........................................................................................ I'm not... -
ARCHIVED Thyroid Nodules And Possible Cancer.
georgie replied to frenchiemama's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Carolyn, Nodules are common with some Thyroid conditions like Hashimotos. Cancer can happen too. I sent you a pm yesterday re a personal story of a lady in a situation like yours. She regretted ever having her Thyroid removed. Her advise was to be really sure before you take that step. Have another biopsy. The Thyroid is the master endocrine gland of the... -

ARCHIVED Australians And New Zealanders Hellooooooo :)
georgie replied to Aussie Peg's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I guess I could try that but I am hoping its not I wasn't badly affected by the next evening so wonder if a trace of gluten from glucose syrup could be in the icecream without wheat being labelled. How strict are our food labels? Is all glucose syrup from wheat? I am eating cheese and small traces of dairy and appear to have no problems with that.... -
Laurie, Good to hear you are taking Armour. Are you taking it sublingually ?Taken sublingually you get the benefit of the Calcitonin. 90mg isn't a big dose. Normal dose is 120mg - 180mg according to the Drs product sheet. I am on 210mg at the moment and will need more as my temps are not optimal yet. Some of my friends take Boron and Maca for osteo as well...

I love it ! But you only mention Americans. What about us in the rest of the world ? -
I hate to say this but please do some research. It is well documented that Fosamax causes jaw abnormalities. 'Since 2001, more than 2,400 patients have reported bone death in their jaws after taking a medication to prevent or treat bone loss. Most of these patients were taking potent, intravenously delivered forms of the drugs. Additionally, 120 people...

I had Street Blue Ribbon icecream last week and even though the label just said 'glucose syrup' I am sure I was glutened. Has anyone else tried that one? -
ARCHIVED Thyroid Nodules And Possible Cancer.
georgie replied to frenchiemama's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I have Hashimotos Thyroid and nodules. Armour and Iodine should shrink them. You may try that ? The larger nodule is a concern. Have you joined a Thyroid List to get info ? ARCHIVED I Am Now Treated For Low Thyroid
georgie replied to Ursa Major's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Ursula, Actually your post was interesting re the Iodine. My patch test disappeared within 6 hours.I guess that means I need lots of Iodine And Wilsons method of tracking temps as symptom #1 is interesting. That is hard for some people to understand , but back before 1970 there was NO test for Thyroid other than symptoms of low temp . So Wilson is... -
ARCHIVED I Am Now Treated For Low Thyroid
georgie replied to Ursa Major's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Ursula, By all means. We are just swapping stories here and what works for some doesn't work or isn't suitable for another. Armour is the traditional treatment for low Thyroid which sadly has been forgotten in the last 30 years but is now being rediscovered as it is superior to synthetic meds. As Janie says - It works, it just works... I am glad we agree... -
ARCHIVED Glucose Syrup
georgie replied to georgie's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I believe now that in Australia that all food must state what is in it and if it has gluten. I will check with the Society tomorrow. Their web site is unreadable. I only had a slight reaction and wonder if it was incorrectly labelled ? Just a trace of gluten? I had dairy 3 days ago and was OK. hmmm -
ARCHIVED I Am Now Treated For Low Thyroid
georgie replied to Ursa Major's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Ursula, Just be aware that Wilsons is still considered alternate and that Armour is a stronger and proven med. So if you don't get where you want to go with your Wilson meds - then there are other options available. Most people I know seem to think that Wilson has just put a label to HypoThyroidism which is a general complaint and can be treated by any Dr...
