  1. CarlaB, Have you been tested for b12? Pernicious Anaemia is autoimmune as well as Celiac. I have that and also Thyroid - so bad luck comes in 3s for me
  2. If an icecream states it has Glucose Syrup - is that Gluten free ? I had the icecream as I thought it was OK but then had a reaction. Aren't all the labels meant to state if they contain wheat ? I am in Australia.
  3. Good news Ursula Keep me posted. Wilsons works for some folks but most still need Armour. If your temps don't improve remember that. And T3 only for some folks may work for awhile , then they plateau out at an unwell state with a few Hypo symptoms still remaining. stopthethyroidmadness has treated 1000s and generally find that Armour works much better...
  4. Am I allowed to do that? Its in Australia so you might have a way to travel for the pistachio icecream
  5. I would still get the paperwork from your last Thyroid checks. Just in case. Most people feel heaps better when they switch to Armour although if you have weak adrenals - you will need to treat them too.
  6. I have just had my first restaurant meal since being dx. I was a little nervous but I needed not worry. In each course there was an option for me. The olives were served with home made bread sticks but the chef served mine with toasted gluten-free bread. The mains was duck with chilli black rice and was wonderful. And dessert was a home made pistachio icecream...
  7. So ..... if I wake up with D and stomach pains it would have probably been the meal at dinner that was guilty? And my hubbie said that icecream was safe I have been glutened 2 x this week. Visitors are staying and I am out of routine also a bit more careless. The last glutening took about 12 hours to happen, and has lasted for 6 days with stomach...
  8. How long does it take to recover from a Glutening? And how soon do the symptoms of a Glutening start?
  9. Covsooze, I notrice in your link that you are hypothyroid. What do you take for that ? The symptoms you describe can be caused by low Thyroid. Perhaps your meds are not working ?
  10. I had a mad moment last week and ate some home cooked lemon pudding. It was a type of souffle and had little flour and I thought a couple of spoons wouldn't hurt - right ? WRONG !!! SIX days later still have incred pain, and even had a migraine 2 days ago. I can't believe it would last this long !!
  11. thinjim, AMAZING LINK !! Thankyou !
  12. AutumnE, When you said you are treated for Thyroid - is it Synthroid ? And when you said your last tests were normal - have you seen the paperwork? Its possible that you have a problem with converting T4 to T3. If that is so - you need Armour meds. Yes, low adrenal function does go with low Thyroid. Have you had a test with saliva testing for Adrenals...
  13. WOW I am impressed ! Do you mean my 30 years of DAILY headaches could be a Gluten symptom ? And the migraine I had yesterday could be related to the gluten I had 4 days ago ???? My migraines started about 15 years ago. I used to get about 3 or 4 attacks a year of those plus the daily headaches. How long does it take to be gluten free to be rid...
  14. Thanks Mango, There are some really good ideas in there. Normally I hate heat in a bag meals - but like you said - on the trip that may be necessary and its not forever - so can cope. Trouble is - my hubbie is a foodie and most of his enjoyment when travelling comes from small villages and eating local food. In France - we stayed in small villages last time...
  15. Rusla, What does this mean ? What level were you when dx ? I was 148 when dx and have had pins and needles in my feet for 15 years. I came very close to being permanently paralysed. Elaine, 500 isn't really a good score for B12. Near 1000 is better. And if you have neuro issues you may need a very high number ( ie over range ) to feel good. Keep taking...
  16. I don't think that is available in Aust. There is a test I believe but the Dr has to order it. And her Dr said he didn't have Celiac based on that blood test - end of story.
  17. I don't know where we will be staying but it may be with family for the wedding and then on the move through Europe. So, biscuits will be available but I can't really eat just fruit and biscuits for a month .... And even the plane flight is 24 hours and that seems a long time to eat sugary food. I am Insulin Resistant and am supposed to eat meat and protein...
  18. Lysa, The feet tingles could be low B12 so get that checked. Its just a blood test. Low Thyroid can go with Celiac quite often. Make sure that Antibodies are tested as well as TSH, free T3, free T4. I am not sure about the other questions. Hope you feel better soon. I am new too, and its all a bit scary and thank goodnes this Forum is here to explain...
  19. That's how I feel but its been 4 days since the Glutening. Is that still correct?
  20. Thanks for the tips. To make matters worse I will be in a foreign country ( Eng ) and don't even know what snack bars will be suitable. With Customs at airports so strict now I don't think I can carry that much food with me ( for 4 weeks ???) so its going to be areal challenge. Its next year - but am already starting to be scared. How can I cope for ...
  21. My friend's son has symptoms of Celiac and was blood tested . She said The Dr didn't say what it meant and she is left wondering what it means.
  22. Its a while off - but there is going to be a wedding to attend. How do I cope with that ? A set menu probably. Even if there is special food for me - could I trust the kitchen to be safe and not cross contaminate ? What do I do ? Bring my own? Pretend not to be hungry ? !!!
  23. Does it make a difference if test was fasting or non fasting ? I seem to still need B12 shots every couple of weeks. My PN is much improved - but wonder why I need so much B12 to keep it away.
  24. The day I was Glutened last week - I ended up having a nightmare that night. Is that a normal reaction ??
