ARCHIVED Thyroid/adrenal Experts - Would Love Your Thoughts Here
georgie replied to ohsotired's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Looks pretty good to my non medico eyes. Cortisol is at its highest at 6am and the drops and continues to drop as the day goes on. As your test was at 10.30am and not 6am - this result would be considered normal. Be careful taking cortisone if you don't need it - you will put your adrenals 'to sleep' . The thyroid tests look good too.. Was B12 and... -
ARCHIVED Think I've Been Glutened, Please Check My Menu :)
georgie replied to tygwyn's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
What about the orange juice ? Did you squeeze that fresh yourself ? Some commercial juices are made from concentrates imported from overseas... and may not be labelled correctly. I am wary of processed foods when they use words like 'concentrate' or 'made from imported ingredients' - as I think a few seem to slip through our labelling laws. Maybe you... -
ARCHIVED Casein And Lactose
georgie replied to no-more-muffins's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I am casein intolerant At first I thought it was just lactose but as I had continuing symptoms of fatigue and bloating - I was told to give up casein for a while. I felt so much better. All that fatigue and bloating seemed to go away. I can tolerate butter and small amounts of goats and sheep cheeses but do not drink milk of any type at all. Its... -
ARCHIVED Anyone Else Not Dream At All?
georgie replied to aaronify's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I never dream either. Probably 5 in 10 years ? I have some sleep apnoea dx ..so maybe that is a link... The gluten-free diet did not change things for me. -
Knees a sod when they go wrong. I had a knee op 10 years ago that made my knee worse ( they never warn you about that ), and then I fell onto THAT knee two years ago and I think I did more damage. MRI was non conclusive except for a cartilage tear, and I am due for another. I am about to have Prolotherapy done. It saved me from back surgery 5 years...

My Iron and Ferritin were normal high when dx with Coeliac, and have been climbing steadily in the last 3 years on the gluten-free diet. They are now borderline high... Am about to have another test - Dr checking levels every few months now. Have tried to stop eating red meat as often and more chicken and fish .. The Celtic Curse they call it and as Coeliac...

I am curious - what blood tests have you had done for Thyroid ? Endos are usually the worst for dx borderline cases of Thyroid. Open Original Shared Link All the Endos I have seen have only known about diabetes and not much else. I don't bother with them now. My GP is 10x better. -

ARCHIVED New Nhs Nice Coeliac Guidelines To Uk Drs
georgie posted a topic in Publications & Publicity
Recognition and assessment of coeliac disease NHS NICE Coeliac Guidelines to UK Drs Clinical guidelines CG86 Issued: May 2009 How reliable are serological tests compared with intestinal biopsy in detecting early coeliac disease? − Evidence of the presence of coeliac disease can be suggested by the finding of highly specific and sensitive a... -
I take Thyroxine and T3. ( t4/t3). On Thyroxine alone I felt dead. I take 100mcg T4 and 30mcg T3. Everyone is different and you just have to try a few combinations to see what feels best for you. I did try Armour but prefer the T4/T3 now. I also have HypoPituitary + autoimmune diseases. BTW - The Stim Test is not always an accurate test for Secondary...

I was going to say check for Addisons Disease as well. Addisons can be fatal if not treated - so do not ignore symptoms like this. As it is a rare disease many Drs do not know the signs of Addisons. This site has a lot of good info. Not everyone gets the tan as a symptom. Open Original Shared Link -
ARCHIVED Pre-type 2 Diabetes And Celiac
georgie replied to lpjourney's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
My pre Type 2 got worse with the gluten-free diet. I have had to now eat very strictly again. Few carbs and mini meals of protein every 2 hours. No fruit. No potato. The best book I have read re this is 'The Insulin Resistance Diet" by Drs Hart & Grossman. Its easier to live with than Atkins, South Beach etc. -

ARCHIVED Australians And New Zealanders Hellooooooo :)
georgie replied to Aussie Peg's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I have a great Dr and she prints everything immediately while I am still there at her desk. Its not hard - its on the screen and she presses "print". No photocopying costs or anything ..... You have a legal right to all your records - so just ring them up and insist on it. You may have to pay for copying costs now - but remember in future to not leave... -
Why Type 1 ? I am under suspicion for Type 2 ...but it is a long road to be dx ... Try not to delay .... Addisons can be very serious if not dx in time ... And has you have found - the PolyEndocrine disorders require a Addisons ( or adrenal insufficiency or adrenal fatigue ) ... diagnosis

ARCHIVED Adrenal Fatigue And Celiac Disease
georgie replied to gointribal's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I would say so. Most Drs can order a fasting serum cortisol test - and you need to see the results as a low normal result can STILL be a red flag warning sign. If you have a low or low normal serum fasting cortisol test with the symptoms as you describe then you should be investigated for Addisons. You may only have partial adrenal insufficiency at this... -
Drs often like to test in the beginning like this to see if you are absorbing 'any' B12 from your diet - or if you are not.If the levels have dropped after 6 weeks this is a sign you have PA which is another autoimmune disease. An endoscope may then be needed to check the stomach for gastritis, and also an Intrinsic Factor Test and Parietal Cell Antibody...

ARCHIVED Australians And New Zealanders Hellooooooo :)
georgie replied to Aussie Peg's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
That's strange - as I know I have reacted to some brands that are labelled as gluten-free. Is there any way for us to know if they have been tested or not ? Like the Heart Tick of approval for low fat foods ?? I will check again to see if they were made in Australia or imported. I suspect I am just extra sensitive and need to be very careful of... -

ARCHIVED Australians And New Zealanders Hellooooooo :)
georgie replied to Aussie Peg's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Hi Michelle, My genetic test was free - just a normal free blood test. Maybe worth asking as a positive + positive antibodies + symptoms IS Coeliac.... The endoscope may be useful to check for damage and pre cancerous lesions ( sorry) but as far as a diagnostic - may only be 50:50. Now that you are nearly there I would be inclined to have it done... -
ARCHIVED Australians And New Zealanders Hellooooooo :)
georgie replied to Aussie Peg's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Michelle, I am curious why you are having a biopsy if you have already been dx by blood work ??? Apart from making the Dr richer - what is the point ??? You react badly when you try to eat Gluten , and have the positive blood test - is that not enough proof ? The sad thing is - that your biopsy may be a false negative if you have eaten gluten light for years... -
ARCHIVED Australians And New Zealanders Hellooooooo :)
georgie replied to Aussie Peg's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I react to trace amounts of gluten. If the label has wheat listed I don't touch it as I have reactions before. Natural flavours can have gluten - especially if they are brought into Australia already processed. I have been caught by some processed foods that way - even if labelled gluten-free . It is the fine print you need to read. Unless I make it myself... -
ARCHIVED Looking For Allergy Specialist In Australia Or Nz. Help!
georgie replied to webbydu's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Hi Liz, Is this link any help ? Open Original Shared Link I have found Compounding Chemists to be very helpful people finding a Dr that uses bio identical and natural remedies.
