  1. Hopefully it is not Addisons but it may be important to check - just to be safe. This site has a lot of good info. You don't have to have all the symptoms - and it is possible that you may have a partial deficiency at this stage - so the symptoms may not be as severe yet. For eg - you may not have the weight loss if you also are HypoThyroid , or the darkening...
  2. How is your Blood Pressure ? Have you had Sodium/Potassium checked ? Aldosterone/ Renin ? Cortisol ? I am wondering re Addisons Disease. Primary Addisons is autoimmune and can happen suddenly within days, or creep up on you over a period of years. As you have other autoimmune diseases you are at more risk of getting others. There is a blood test for...
  3. Design: The aim was to define the prevalence of celiac disease and of IgA deficiency in a group of Italian patients with AAD. Methods: One hundred and nine patients with AAD were enrolled and examined for tissue transglutaminase autoantibodies of the IgA class, circulating levels of IgA and adrenal cortex antibodies. Results: Two (1.8%) of the patients...
  4. I am absolutely sure that this can happen. Antibodies fluctuate day to day and I know for a fact that in autoimmune Addisons that the Addisons Antibodies will disappear to zero if you have had the disease for a while before you have the test. A Pathology Dr told me this and my lab wrote much the same on the test I had done. And the same with Hashimotos...
  5. But it is also possible to be HypoThyroid ( low ) when the TSH is low. This happens when the Pituitary is no longer working correctly. Not many Drs know this - so it is great that PinkLady's Dr seems to know. I was dx with HypoThyroid and Coeliac at almost the same time. My Cholesterol was also high normal and Dr still uses that as a guide to how my...
  6. You may like to research Iodine and Cysts. I know that many have used Iodine supplements to get rid of ovarian cysts. Iodine is not good for DH, but have a bit of think about it. I use Lugols Iodine, but there are tablets called Iodoral as well. Some use up to 50mg for a start of the treatment. There are yahoo groups that have more info .... ...
  7. Have you thought of doing the B12 jabs as a person with Pernicious Anaemia would ? With neuro involvement the standard procedure is jabs alternate days for 2 weeks OR until nerve improvement stops to improve then 2 monthly there after. Sometimes I wonder if the blood tests just are not accurate enough. If the sublinguals show a high serum level but it is...
  8. Hi, I use this brand for my salad dressing. I use the Thai Dressing which is great but I notice only the Italian is stocked here. I buy this from my local Ade. gluten-free shop. There are probably good shops near where you live as well. I think someone told me one of the Kraft mayonaisse is good but I am not 100% sure which one now. You just have to...
  9. So you are dx as PA then ...how often do you have the B12 shots and did you ever have a loading dose ? Have you had the blood tests for PA ? I know they are only 50% accurate but may show how your stomach is. I usually sip water with a little lemon juice in it with my meals. I find that helps the digestion a bit. Or a glass of wine. We often cook with...
  10. Hi, I find I am very sensitive to food and if it has a trace of Gluten in it - I react. Lots of cafes now sell "gluten-free" food but if it is made in the same kitchen as their normal baking - I find I can't eat it as I get a reaction. Lately my best find has been Gluten Free Bakery items. Open Original Shared Link But I reacted to one of these the...
  11. Celiac can cause a B12 deficiency - its common to have both iron and B12 anaemias together - and B12 is not normally tested as part of the CBC. Low B12 is also linked to miscarriages. This newspaper carried a story about that just recently. Make sure Folate is also tested when you get the B12 tested. Open Original Shared Link
  12. Have you been checked for Pernicious Anaemia ? PA is an autoimmune disease that causes low B12. It also can mean you have atrophic gastritis of the stomach and have damage to the stomach walls - leading to poor digestion and B12 deficiency. Might be a good idea to get a scope done to check for this - as there is a slightly increased risk of stomach cancer...
  13. AliB - I was referring to an earlier post of mine The book is "The Insulin Resistance Diet" by Drs Hart & Grossman. I found it helped me a lot. Absolutely. I still get amazed people asking me what DO you eat - when you say you are Coeliac and can't eat wheat, barley, rye etc. Most people I know seem to live on processed foods and...
  14. That's what I like about the RH Diet. There are no banned foods as such but instead methods to eat foods that are balanced and work 'for you'. Some people cope with protein:fat:carb of 30:30:40 or some need 50:40:10 but its has that choice and you work it out as you go. When the insulin get back to normal you can just feel it.... The book explains...
  15. I am not sure what this means. How does the toxic waste affect the pancreas to over produce insulin ? I did read the SCDiet and it sounds horrendous and very restrictive. I prefer my diet but was just curious about the toxic waste question. Do you still follow the SCDiet once you are healed ?
  16. This happened to me today. Even after two years you still do stupid things re Glutenings. I had a chiro appt and they do a massage first and forgot to ask. My guess its the cream.... Recall having this happen before and they checked cream and it was Vit E ??? Now I am trying to think what the final result re that was..... Anyway - today I could barely...
  17. How much salt are you having a day ? What is your BP now ? Sorry - have only read quickly all the pages but I am wondering if you have been tested for Addisons Disease ? Have you had your electrolytes tested ?The blood test for Addisons Antibodies ? The ACTH Stim Test ? There is one type of Addisons that is autoimmune and can therefore be linked to Coeliac...
  18. I am not sure. USA labs may be different to mine. But if your symptoms improved on ahigher dose of B12 lozenges - this sort of proves the point - doesn't it ? The second B12 test you had would not have been accurate. You can't get an accurate test once you start B12 treatment. Injections will probably give you a bigger boost but lots of lozenges should...
  19. Sounds a bit like Reactive HypoGlycemia. Some say its an early warning sign for diabetes BUT you may be able to still turn it around / slow it down if you eat right now. I was tested with a FIVE hour oral Glucose Tolerance Test. The blood draws were done every half hour and hour for Glucose AND Insulin. Then the results were graphed. I was dx as my BS...
  20. My Ferritin, Iron and Trans Sat % were all mid range normal when dx with CDtwo years ago, and have been rising and rising ever since. I do have Addisons and Hashis. Not sure if there is a connection or not as others with AD and Hashis seem to normally have LOW Iron I have been researching Hemachromatosis and the genes and it seems there are 29 genes associated...
  21. I have Addisons - took me over 20 years to be diagnosed as my adrenal failure was gradual and confusing. Can you ask your Endo for some more tests - like the ACTH Stim Test , and blood tests for the Addisons antibodies ? AD is very rare - but more common than the stats say. I believe there are many borderline Addisonians walking around that don't even know...
  22. Hi Mand, Your Dr is thinking Pituitary Tumours - make extra sure that the MRI ordered is for the PITUITARY and not just the brain, and also make sure contrast is being used. Small tumours can be missed otherwise. Be aware that long term Celiac damage can show as lesions on the brain MRIs like MS and Pernicious Anaemia. Your Cortisol needs to be...
  23. I used to get a lot of migraines until I was dx as Adrenal Insufficient and got my replacement cortisone. I don't seem to get them now. I also crave salt Make sure your Dr also tests your electrolytes ( salt/ potassium etc ) as that may show why you crave salt. Also make sure Dr checks your BP and checks it from lying down to standing up. That may show...
  24. Anyone with low stomach acid should also consider the chance they have Pernicious Anaemia. Keep a check on your B12 levels , and get an endoscope to check for damage. PA carries a higher risk of stomach cancer - so not something you want to ignore or mess around with...
  25. Go to www.stopthethyroidmadness.com You should find most of your answers there. Go to the link that says 'site map' to be put to the second page with a whole page of links. Is she Celiac ? I was unsure if she was gluten-free or not.
