ARCHIVED Genetic Freak? Or Something Else?
georgie replied to minton's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I found this good link Open Original Shared Link I only have one half gene for DQ2 but am fairly sure I had a lot of villi damage. I am lactose intolerant...I also had what appeared to be DH. So my eventual dx has been Celiac. -
ARCHIVED Autoimmune Polyglandular Syndrome
georgie replied to HAK1031's topic in Related Issues & Disorders

ARCHIVED Genetic Freak? Or Something Else?
georgie replied to minton's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Absolutely. The whole house is gluten-free and hubbie eats as I do. I was dairy free but now can be lactose free and OK. I am also soy free and fructose light. I started wearing a mask to feed my horses this year which helped. It just seems that I am an autoimmune disaster and possible have PolyGlandular Autoimmune Syndrome Type 2. Drs are still all arguing... -
ARCHIVED Genetic Freak? Or Something Else?
georgie replied to minton's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
My Mum is going to see her Dr soon. Am I reading the genetics correctly when it says I MUST have one parent with the DQ2 gene - even if they are asymtomatic to Celiac ? It would be interesting to find out if Mum carries the gene. I guess I am just curious...My Dad passed away a few years ago so if Mum tests negative I can assume I inherited the gene from... -
ARCHIVED Addison's - Banana Sickness Question?
georgie replied to raisin's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I can't eat Bananas at all. I get most of the symptoms you described. Perhaps more hypoglycemic than yours - but dizzy etc. I appear to have a Fructose intolerance as well as Coeliac but my reaction to bananas is quite over powering and stands out a bit more. I have been dx as Secondary Addisons ( ie caused by pituitary ). It may still be Primary... -
ARCHIVED Help Interpreting Thyroid Numbers
georgie replied to glutenfreeinchicago's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I meant that as Celiac is autoimmune - the chances of having another autoimmune disorder are greater. It is possible to have autoimmune Thyroiditis with zero antibodies or a low number that are 'borderline' according to the labwork. The antibodies can fluctuate so therefore can alter rapidly from test to test as well. And I believe that in late stages... -
ARCHIVED Help Interpreting Thyroid Numbers
georgie replied to glutenfreeinchicago's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Yes. You are HypoThyroid now and will probably need Thyroid medications soon. When you have one autoimmune condition it is common to have another. The healing from being gluten-free may help you absorb the meds a bit better and you may find you do well on a lesser dose than you would have otherwise. I was able to reduce my Armour after my gut healed some... -
I love Prolo! I had 8 sessions of Prolo five years ago and have hardly had any back pain since. Previously I needed two walking sticks to get around for an hour every morning. I used to cry just getting out of bed.... Not now ... no pain meds ...nothing.... A Dr did mine and he told me I was not far away from needing back surgery. I have at least one prolapsed...

ARCHIVED Hi, Got Some Of My Results From Pituitary Specialist
georgie replied to needtobebetter's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Sounds like normal Hashimotos Disease to me. Why do you think HypoPit ? Your TSH is climbing high which does not usually indicate HypoPit of the thyroid. My TSH was 1.1 when dx as HypoThyroid ... I was dx by Antibodies and Ultrasound, and then later tests showed deficiencies in some other Pituitary hormones and that is now my dx. Hashimotos does cause... -
ARCHIVED Doctor Ordered Mri Of Brain

Has anyone dx you with Hashimotos Thyroid. You have had Antibodies since 2001.... Do you take meds for Hashis ? Do you by chance take a B12 supplement already ? -
ARCHIVED Sharp, Stabbing Upper Abdominal Pain With Gluten Exposure?
georgie replied to Caitlin9267's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I have just had an attack of this last night. For me ...it is gall bladder. Whenever you change your diet there is the risk of eating more fat. Last week I tried a new type of gluten-free crisps....they tasted really nice but by that evening I felt a bit off colour .. 3 days later I have a gall bladder attack. Before being gluten-free - I would never... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Disease Vs. Gluten Sensitivity
georgie replied to happygirl's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Thanks for explaining that. The labwork looked as clear as mud IgA and IgG Antibodies were also tested. And the disclaimer was for all tests. -
ARCHIVED Celiac Disease Vs. Gluten Sensitivity
georgie replied to happygirl's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Yes... My Total IgA was 1.44 g/L and this lab says <4.00 is normal. But I was eating Gluten light at the time as well... I am almost certain my villi are/were damaged due to the subsequent dairy / lactose problem. That is now healing to a certain degree... As the testing improves there are articles like this coming through. I found this interesting... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Disease Vs. Gluten Sensitivity
georgie replied to happygirl's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
The lab report from my Coeliac blood tests said "up to 10% of coeliac patients may have negative serology testing. Suggest further investigation only if there is a high clinical suspicion of coeliac disease." Sadly my Dr didn't read this at the time and just made me start the gluten-free diet...... In hindsight it would have been a good idea to have... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Disease Vs. Gluten Sensitivity
georgie replied to happygirl's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
My betting money would be on this. I tested negative by blood test but have the symptoms of Coeliac including long term symptoms of infertility, and teeth enamel defects. Recently the DQ2 gene was found. I have 3 or 4 other autoimmune diseases.... Was my first Coeliac blood test a false negative. I think so and so does my Dr. -
It seems to help sleep. Remember that our own Thyroids work day and night .....if they are healthy... I try to take my last grain at around 3pm but I know many that take quarter of a grain before bedtime and sleep like babies.

Synthroid is a synthetic med of T4 only. Armour is an old fashioned, natural med ( made from dessicated pigs thyroids) that contains T4, T3, T2, T1 and calcitonin. Pig's thyroid are very nearly bio identical to our own. Around the mid 1970s Drs were trained to believe that the new T4 drugs were superior and that supplementing T3 was unnecessary as...

This is interesting as when I get Glutened the first symptom is over whelming fatigue ...to the stage of falling asleep at the steering wheel. This happens within an hour or two of the Glutening but the fatigue happens within minutes .... I can be caught in traffic and suddenly find myself unable to stay awake. I had never thought of it as narcolepsy before...

ARCHIVED Doctor Ordered Mri Of Brain
georgie replied to MyMississippi's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Its important to know there are two major reasons to have low B12. One is malnutrition ( caused by Celiac or leaky gut damage) but there is also Pernicious Anemia which is an autoimmune disease. PA will not simply 'get better' with a new diet. If you have one autoimmune disease you at greater risk of others - so always consider that aspect as well. There... -
Perhaps get a Cortisol test , and sodium , potassium and Blood Pressure ( taken when lying down and then taken as soon as you stand up). If there are results that are borderline or unusual - followup with aldosterone and renin serum tests etc Hopefully its an ear infection and can be treated as such but worth considering all possibles - as adrenal insufficiency...

ARCHIVED Doctor Ordered Mri Of Brain
georgie replied to MyMississippi's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Please stop the folic acid, and get tested for B12! Folate supplements can mask a severe B12 deficiency, and the pins and needles as you describe are classic book for a severe B12 deficiency. The damage may be permanent if you delay treatment... -

ARCHIVED Doctor Ordered Mri Of Brain
georgie replied to MyMississippi's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
My Dr ( naturopath as well as normal Dr ) found she had a patient with MS that only started to improve after being totally gluten-free, and wearing a mask to feed her chickens. The chicken's feed had wheat and the dust was Glutening her. After wearing the mask for a while her numb patches improved. I have four or five autoimmune diseases - all happening... -
ARCHIVED Thyroid Recovery - Taking Innate Thyroid Response Complete Care
georgie replied to jennsboys23's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Sorry to say but TSH of 3.3 with TPO Antibodies of 259.6High ......is Hashimotos Thyroid Disease. You need treatment for that .... A normal TSH is around 1. And Thyroid Antibodies overrule the TSH results.....you need those Antibodies brought back down to zero.
