ARCHIVED Thyroid Recovery - Taking Innate Thyroid Response Complete Care
georgie replied to jennsboys23's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
If you have Thyroid Antibodies ( ie Hashimotos or Graves) then you really should be monitored by a Dr. Armour Thyroid is the best med I have found to reduce Antibodies and believe me - over the years I had tried everything I could as my Dr would not. Since changing Drs the problem was solved -

ARCHIVED Thyroid Recovery - Taking Innate Thyroid Response Complete Care
georgie replied to jennsboys23's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I tend to agree with ShayL on this. Hashimotos is Hashimotos and another autoimmune disease as well as your Celiac. If you neglect the symptoms then the eventual damage can be serious - even cancer. I have not heard of a gluten-free diet curing Hashimotos although it may be possible. I was dx with Hashis with a low # of Antibodies but my Dr was aware... -
Lots of links between Alzheimers and low B12 as well. Try to read "Could it be B12?" by Sally Pacholok. Blood tests don't often detect low B12 and sometimes Drs don't even test for low B12 at all ! Or know how to interpret the result. Low normal with symptoms is not normal....

ARCHIVED Nightly Right Quadrant Pain & Itching/tickling - Mostly In Back
georgie replied to April in KC's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Have you thought of kidney/adrenals ? Its the night time symptoms that make me wonder. Adrenals start to work through the night so that when you wake you have your highest cortisol for the day. I have also had gall bladder problems that never showed on scans. Eventually ( after about 15 years of scans) they found gall bladder 'sludge' which apparently... -
ARCHIVED Dropping Blood Pressure

See a Dr ASAP. Make sure your adrenal function is tested - possibly even a referral to an Endo immediately. I have just started Florinef for my adrenal insufficiency and low BP, and can say that it is truly amazing the difference it can make to how you feel day to day. -
ARCHIVED Dosing Thyroid Medication
georgie replied to Di-gfree's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
You cannot look at TSH once you are taking Armour. It doesn't matter . Mine is 0.001 and has been so for 2 years. The levels of Free T4 and Free T3 are what matter. Based on those levels it looks like your 60mg was not that far away from your best dose. A bit less than you are taking now and a bit more than your Dr said Unproven. And... -

ARCHIVED Dosing Thyroid Medication
georgie replied to Di-gfree's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Glad it helps. Its important to know the facts but also to keep the communications there with your Dr. Most Drs train years which costs them a lot of money and they are understandably a bit negative about people that barge in to a short appt with stacks of paper they have read off the internet. Mary Shomon had a good article about this recently and how we... -
ARCHIVED Dosing Thyroid Medication
georgie replied to Di-gfree's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Armour doesn't really work that way. There is no precise dose that be calculated like that. The Dr has to use his /her judgement. Back before the TSH test was available - this was all they could do anyway , and was how Armour was medicated. The lab I used told me up to a week is good. They do this regularly. Correct and very wise to be wary... -
I had an emergency appendectomy when 10. I believe it is fairly common to have this happen, but it makes me wonder now I know more about Celiac.

ARCHIVED What Is The Difference Between Casein And Lactose
georgie replied to Lisa16's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I was told that lactase is formed on the tips of gut villi so that when the villi are flattened or damaged ( as in Celiac ) that lactase is no longer being produced because of this damage. Which is why so many with Celiac also have lactose intolerance. So sometimes the villi heal ( and produce lactase again) and sometimes they don't. Casein intolerance... -

ARCHIVED Questions About Fructose Malabsorption
georgie replied to Blondie's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I would love to learn more about this. As I said - I have not improved on gluten-free diet 100% and after my severe Fructose reaction - the light globe came on as I have always felt off colour after eating fruit. Its a hard diet intolerance as everyone assumes fruit is healthy for you.And most gluten-free bars seem to have honey .... Andrew - can the... -
ARCHIVED Dosing Thyroid Medication
georgie replied to Di-gfree's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
And another thing. 60mg of Armour ( 1 grain) has 36mcg T4 and 9mcg T3. How your Dr thinks that 100mcg of Synthroid (T4) is equal to that - I do not know !! Hertoghe states that the human thyroid produces around 80-100mcg T4 and 20mcg T3 every day, with further T3 coming from the body's conversion of T4 to T3. These figures are variable and decline... -

May I suggest you take the Armour Thyroid pdf printout of the dosing instructions? Go to www.armourthyroid.com Open Original Shared Link 120mg is still considered a normal dose and not everyone is 'normal' - especially if they have cellular resistance from long term untreated HypoThyroidism, or if they suffer malabsorption and leaky gut damage from... -
ARCHIVED Hashimoto Thyroiditis
georgie replied to MyMississippi's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I was finally dx in 2006 with Hashimotos after a borderline dx in 1977 and told it 'didn't matter'. After a lifetime of "CFS" I found the cure .... I have used T4 meds ( synthroid/thyroxine), slow release T3 , combination of T4 meds and sr T3, and also Armour and can say that , for me, the Armour is vastly superior. I can feel it working ! My heart flutters... -
ARCHIVED B12 And D Deficiency - Celiac Panel Negative - Addison's Disease
georgie replied to russtay1's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Primary Addisons is an autoimmune disease. If you have one autoimmune disease you are more likely to have several. If you have Celiac you tend to have malabsorption and vitamin deficiencies. You may even have Pernicious Anaemia - another autoimmune disease. Have you been tested for that ? Check out Polyglandular Autoimmune Syndrome. Open Original... -
Yes - and I wonder if this is why I am not recovering on gluten-free diet ? I take care to wash hands and try not to breath the dust ...but its hard not to..... Solutions anyone ? I am thinking of changing to all lucerne hay.

ARCHIVED Doctor Ordered Mri Of Brain
georgie replied to MyMississippi's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hypothyroid - that is my bet. Change Drs to a Dr that understands Hashimotos and tests Free T4 and Free T3 levels, and Thyroid Antibodies. Have you read much about Hashimotos Thyroid ? TSH testing is nearly useless is you have Hashimotos. So are the T4 if it isn't Free T4 and unbound etc. You need to understand that Hashimotos is an autoimmune attack... -
ARCHIVED B12 Deficiency - Ms - Neuro Symptoms - Discussion
georgie replied to ShayFL's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I probably should have had them twice a week....as symptoms returned. In those early days my symptoms would return after 4 or 5 days . It also depends what type of B12 was injected. There are 3 types and some people need one type more than another. I found Hydroxocobalamin injections + daily methylcobalamin tablets to be the best solution for me. ... -
ARCHIVED Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)
georgie replied to AliB's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Thanks Ali, This is me to a T but I also seem fructose intolerant. I collapsed last week after a tomato soup containing fructose. Apples are bad for me etc. So how on earth would I manage a diet like this ? Atkins ? I did Atkins once and felt so well but gradually fell off the wagon .... I wasn't dx as Celiac back then either. I lost 3 stone and had... -
ARCHIVED B12 Deficiency - Ms - Neuro Symptoms - Discussion
georgie replied to ShayFL's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Open Original Shared Link Also links to Sally Pacholok's book ' Could it be B12' And this is a good link. Open Original Shared Link Theoretically, in Celiac Disease, a B12 deficiency will eventually self correct once the intestinal damage is healed. However, because it is very possible to have co-existing Pernicious Anemia, one should never risk... -
ARCHIVED B12 Deficiency - Ms - Neuro Symptoms - Discussion
georgie replied to ShayFL's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Great idea for a thread again. I have permanent damage - subacute combined degeneration of the spinal column secondary to PA. I started complaining of the symptoms 20 years ago but no Dr would believe me. All they did was a basic blood test or Complete Blood Count and me - being naive - assumed that a Complete Blood Count was 'everything'. Would you believe... -
ARCHIVED Doctor Ordered Mri Of Brain
georgie replied to MyMississippi's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Yes I have had one. I found it quite relaxing although a bit noisy at times. Are you having contrast dye as well ? You may like to read Sally Pacholoks book 'Could it be B12 ?' where she writes a whole chapter about how low B12 can mimic MS - even to the brain lesions in MRIs. She is a RN and her husband a Dr and she has seen 100s of cases where patients...
