  1. only one of my sons antibodys were elevated (and only by one pt). im very lucky to have a dr. that is not eager to do a biopsy. try the diet, then do the biopsy. i noticed great improvement in my son in just a few days. i dont need the agony of putting him thru a biopsy, if he responds to the diet, thats all i need to diagnose it!
  2. i work in a lab and learned all about celiac disease in school, but i was in denial about my son having it. i cried when the results came across the fax. nobody wants to hear that there is something wrong with thier child. i stared the gluten free diet right away, but i have been reluctent to do all the other "stuff" like getting a new toaster. gavin has only been gluten pretty much free for about 2 and half months, but i can already see a difference. he has put on 3 lbs since going gluten free. (he hadnt gained one single pound since he was 11 months old). you truly do have to mourn the loss of your once "normal" child. and that is the hardest part.
  3. my son is gluten sensitive and lactose intolerent. he loves the philly swirl popsickes and italian ice cups ( i thinks thats what they are called) i get them at wal-mart. he also loves the hunts pudding and marshmellows. he's not a big cereal eater, but he seems to enjoy the occasional bowl of honeycomb (it does have oat flour, so depending on how sensitive the person is, this may not be a good choice).
  4. my son was diagnosed as "gluten sensitive" in sept and we stared the gluten free diet right away. If he eats something he isnt supposed to at daycare, i can usually tell by the middle of the night, he wakes himself (and me) up screaming b/c his stomach hurts. He is much less energetic and very clingy the next day (im assuming its b/c he doesnt feel good) and as we all know 2 year olds are some of the most energetic creatures on the planet. I do not have celiac disease or a gluten sensitivity so i don know what it feels like to "get glutened" but several people have told me that it feels like having the flu and a hangover all at the same time.
