Everyone should go read this article my mom just emailed me from her celiac support group: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070215/ap_on_..._XJUMDW7oF' How scary!! we have two jars of it in our cabinet! I am really starting to wonder if this is why I have been feeling so crappy. Maybe this has been my problem all along, not celiac? The symptoms look relatively the same, and I know I ate at least 3 jars of this peanut butter with this code that I brought from my home (we bought all 5 jars at the same time) while I was abroad in Australia, which is the same time when I started feeling the celiac symptoms. hmmm..... could this possibly prove to be the root of my problems? one article I found says that salmonella can turn into a problem with the intestine. anyone else have any ideas about this? please make sure you check your peanut butter jars and throw any of the 2111 jars away!!!

I just wanted to reply to everyone who was so kind to write to me these past few days.... thank you all SO SO SO much for your comments! you have really helped me to calm down way more than you can even imagine. I went and picked up the "prep kit" today.... get to start that fun stuff tomorrow. the one thing that sucked a lot is that my allergy tests came back today that I took a week ago and this time they said I tested negative for everything...even wheat. I'm guessing this is because I haven't had wheat in a little over a month, but that was really weird. So anyway, the doctors did tell me that I had to have a "normal diet" today, meaning I shouldn't cut out ANY foods, including gluten. So I went on a little bit of a hay day and had a bagel and then half a small pizza (I got a little over-ambitious) and whoo boy let me tell you, I feel like I'm about to die. I just can't wait to start that medicine and get all of this out of me. that was just about the dumbest thing I've had to do in a while and I really doubt that doctor had any clue what he was talking about. (my normal doctor wasn't in, so a nurse consulted him.) anyway, wish me luck on finding out what is wrong once and for all!! and Msutherlin, good luck to you too! (and everyone else who posted and needs to have something really super fun done in the near future) <3 thanks all I'll let you know how it turns out!

  4. so I finally saw an actual G.I. (one month after initial blood tests diagnosed me with Celiac) and he wants me to have a biopsy and colonoscopy done on Valentines day. (hey, at least I know I'll be getting some....there should be some pretty decent sized tubes shoved down and up me) Im freaking out. I hate wearing those hospital gown things they make you wear.... they make me feel like a naked lab rat. and even worse, I don't want anyone going up my butt while I'm asleep!!! I'm so worked up about this already and it's still a week away. I gag just brushing my tongue with my toothbrush... there's no way a tube is going down my throat without me throwing up all over the place. so embarassing. uuuuugh I'm really dreading this.

  6. wow I can't believe Chillis has so many good reviews on here. My experience tonight was horrible. I went there with a big group of friends to celebrate a birthday. I had checked online prior to going to make sure they had a gluten-free menu, which they do. Once I got there though, the waiter had no idea what I was talking about and it took him almost 20 minutes to finally find one, well after everyone else had already ordered. I had already gotten sick from Outback and Bugaboo around here (probably from cross-contamination), so I was trying to be cautious. I decided to just get some mashed potatoes with cheese. Well, the ignorant waiter brought out some mashed potatoes covered in GRAVY. When I told him I couldn't eat that, and that it said so very clearly on the gluten-free menu he had given me, he just replied "Well how was I supposed to know gluten was in that." He left the plate of potatoes on the table and left to get everyone else's food. 15 minutes later he brought out a new plate of potatoes... no cheese. I was so hungry by then I just ate it and tried to not make a scene. I was so annoyed by this waiter's arrogance, I don't think I will ever eat there again. I would have said something to the manager if I wasn't out with a group of people, but honestly... when the waiters aren't even educated on the special cooking needs of some of their customers it's pretty scary!! Beware of Chillis.

I have been trying to cut out dairy for the past week to see if that would help my reactions I still keep having despite being gluten-free, and now my doctor has scheduled me for a test in a few hours. so my question is, no one seems to know if I should be eating dairy this morning so it will show up in the test results, and if so, how many hours before the test I would have to do that. pleaaaaaaase help me asap! thanks
  8. I bought some organic vanilla and organic cinnamon to cook with, but now I'm starting to wonder if they could be part of the problem as to why I still feel sick sometimes. I used them both in my gluten-free cinnamon raisin bread and get sick after eating it. (my other guess is it might be the corn in the xanthum gum?) anyway, has anyone else had a bad reaction with organic vanilla or organic cinnamon? thankssss

Hi, I just got that same bread machine, and I have a question... will yours allow you to select 2lbs for the gluten-free setting? mine won't, and that doesn't make any sense because in the booklet it comes with the chart shows that it is capable of doing 2lb settings in the gluten-free cycle. It will switch to 2lb or 1.5lb on some of the other settings, but not the gluten-free. anyone else have this problem? and also, I tried the cinnamon raisin bread recipe they give using a gluten-free pantry bread mix and it came out half-cooked in the middle. I just scooped it out and used the rest, but it still grosses me out every time I force myself to have a piece of it. thanks for the tips on baking it... I'll try those next time!
