I had a TB Skin Test yesterday...I work in healthcare.....I am having a reaction...not a positive but an allergic type reaction. It iches ect. I had the test yesterday at 12 and starting last evening I started to get gassy and all day today I have the big D. Could this be Celiac related? I know you have to ingest gluten....so I didn't worry if the test had gluten in it. Is this possible????
I'm pretty positive that I didn't eat gluten or get CC'd....this was the only thing I could think of....Any ideas??????
PS Same thing happened last year prior to me being diagnosed!
I had been wondering about this for a while, and none of my dr's could answer it, and I have had about 14 + dr's in the last 9 months.
I haven't had a tb test in a long time - maybe 12 years, but I used to get them when I volunteered at my childrens' elementary school. I used to show a false positive on them all the time. The little bumps actually never went away. I had 4 tests that just made scars, and remained tiny little bumps.. ( All my tb tests when I was a child went away...)
Now, when I fell really sick this past year...those little bumps got real big, liked swelled up and raised ... I still have them, they haven't gone down since I got ill, but they are not real red anymore.
I have showed all the dr's and some just said 'Isn't that strange", or " that's different" but not one dr offered to check me out further with this.
Keep me posted if anyone comes up with information about this.

I'm so sorry you haven't found her yet. My pomeranian had a grand mal seizure yesterday followed by a petit mal seizure. That was one of the scariest things I've gone thru! My vet said it's very odd but there have been a lot of dogs having seizures in the last week, said he's never seen anything like this.
He told me that the dog will calm down after the seizure episodes are over and that if my dog should get away, that when he has re-oriented himself, that he'd be looking for home. Vet also said they prefer dark, quiet places when they are in this condition. You might want to check people's garages, sheds, under trees and brush, under porches, etc. that your baby could have taken refuge in.
Most definitely talk to all your neighbors so they can check their property and help out.
Ann
I hope that your dog is doing better, it is scary when it happens, you feel so helpless

Oh sweetie- still praying for Emma's return....I think the local news is a GREAT idea!!!!!!!
I am sp exhausted....
Still no sightings of Emma yet, I am staying positive though. I spent most of the day puttng up flyers, and talking to people. Most schools are out, more kids...maybe she will come out for them, she loves kids, and playing, so new hope. I will be back at it again tomorrow.
While I was putting up the last poster tonight, I slipped on some gravel and feel to the ground...you should have seen, I did recover quite well, but my tape and flyer flew into the air! My knee is a bit scraped up but I was waiting for someone to yell - SAFE
I will try the local news tomorrow, not sure what they will do. I have a lady trying to get a search team out to walk some of the woods here. I think that would be great!! The only reason they are concidering it is because she has seizures.
One more thing to do...I am putting outside the shirt I wore today, hoping she will pick up the scent.
THanks for all the kind thoughts and prayers, we are needing them.

Has anyone ever cheated on this diet out of frustration and being fed up? Did you get sick? Did you have to go to the hospital? I am wanting to cheat VERY BAD. I want to eat a whole cake! I am even having dreams of eating breaded chicken and a slice of entemanns cake. I just am worried that I would get so sick I would end up in the hospital
Absolutely never - as bad as I get, I would never knowingly eat gluten ever again.
Start making some items with gluten-free flour - you will be surprised at how good some of those items cn be - I love the chocolate chip cookies I make now - I never really liked them before.

It was another pretty tuff day without Emma. I drove around most of the day talking to people and handing out and showing her picture to anyone that would look. I even stopped the UPS man, the township guys that ride around all day, and the postman and gave him a flyer to take back to the plant. No luck. It seems as if she left the face of the earth. I did have a false alarm, someone called thought I had lost a chocolate lab.
I hung out the clothes I was wearing today, hoping she might catch the scent. She used to take a shoe of mine or my hubbies to lay with when she napped. She is attached to us as much as were are attached to her.
I also sent any shelters an email with the Emma flyer that I made up on an attachment, still hoping + praying, that is all I can do. My heart is so heavy. I even feel as if I was glutened with my head, but I know that is stress...plus I am not eating, or sleeping very good right now either.

I am very sorry you are feeling ill. We went to Cabos last summer, prior to gluten-free and are going back in Dec. What places did you eat? Where did you stay?
We are staying at Playa Grande, though we never eat at the resort. I love the local flavor. I am so ready to go back!
Kat.
I stayed at the Sheraton Hacienda Del Mar
They were so good to me...I emailed them ahead of time about my issues, - At the sheraton, when I would go to order something, they would come over and tell me yes or no. Most of the waiters new me, and watched me very closely.
Bogenda -in the old town - Sergio was the manager - He made sure everything I ordered was looked into with extra care. Filet mig.- best I ever ate!!!
I also ate at the Hilton - grilled lobster on the beach - it was great. Again, I talked to the manager and ordered with them.
I made sure I called the rest. and talked to the manager, went over the list carefully with them, and then when I got to the restuarant, I talked with the manager again - he even took the order.
Most days I ate what I took with me from home for lunches - tuna fish, wheat free crackers, canned chicken, applesauce, fruit cups...I really took a lot of things with me to make sure just incase...
While I was there, I actually forgot how sick I had been, I never felt better, even felt as good as before I fell ill!!
Now, back home, I am still having issues...but I lost my dog, and that has put some major stress on me.

HI All - I will be in State College, PA in a few weeks and wondered if there are any restaurant suggestions for that are that are celiac-friendly? Thanks.
I don't believe there is any gluten-free restaurants per say, but...There is a great grocery store called Giant there - it has a whole designated aisle for health consience and gluten free foods, maybe two aisles. I don't get there very often, but when I go through there I always stop.

I think I would like to take you with me to my next Dr's appt. BRAVO!!!! Can I hire you?

Emma,
I am so sorry to hear about your puppy. One of my best friends and his wife have two weimerimers, and I love hearing about them. They are really sweet dogs and so beautiful.
It sounds like you've done everything you need to do to bring your dog home. I don't really have anything else to suggest.
Please keep all of us posted. I'll call my friend to see if he has any suggestions since he's had weimerimers for years.
Brenda
Thanks for the kind words -
that would be great to see if your friend has any suggestions - I loved to watch her point at birds when I took her outside..
.this is just so awful, I don't know what to do.
My dog's name is Emma... my little girl named her..we got her for her birthday.
I will keep you posted.

It has been a horrible 28 hours so far - I am told the first 48 are the most critical
I woke up yesterday at 5:00am to my beloved weimerimer having a seizure our hallway, she is only 18 months old, and we've had her since she was only 7 weeks old. My husband and I were watching her come out of it, but my older daughter came out of her bedroom scared and she frightened the dog even more. My dog was so disoriented when she bolted outside, and she didn't even know who we were. I have never seen her run so fast and be so frightened...Our dog has never even been out of our yard. She is so kind, and loving, but afraid of her own shadow. - and followed me everywhere.
We live in a rural area and I have lost dog on the radio, add in the newspaper, drove around handing out flyers with a picture of her, put them up on telephone poles, called the humane society, police, emergency management, our dog catcher, four footed friends, her vet, you name it, I think I have done it. Not a soul has seen her. I am exhausted, and so very, very sad. I even prayed to St Anthony, the saint of lost things....
Our other dog died last year, he was a beautiful American Eskimo dog named Meeko.....he died from kidney failure - only ate dogfood, no table scraps - I was told the dogfood was contaminated - He was just 7 years old. I am not sure I can take this. My head feels like it is going to explode.
I miss my Weimerimer - her name is Emma

If you were traveling from one country to another, you can not take fresh fruit with you...Believe it or not, you can get a big fine if you are caught coming into another country with it. .I have watched dogs search just for fresh fruit when I have flown internationally. That can be scary when dogs are running up and down aisles, and then they just stop and sit where they want the immigration police to search.
Don't be afraid to call the TSA if you are traveling if you are a us citizen, I have done that on occasion if I have questions....they also have a website that you can visit. Open Original Shared Link

Thanks I appreciate the offer, but I think that brand is a litttle more than my budget allows. I sent an email to maybelline and cover girl and am waiting to hear back.
I don't pay full price...I get at least 35% off, and sometimes even pay 50% with specials and stuff. I figure I have to buy vitamins and skin care and so forth...I may as well get a discount on all of it, and I know that it is pure and safe. If you knew how sick I was ... you would be amazed at how well my skin is looking now. I have acess to all the ingredients that is amazing, most companies hide that stuff. If your interested I can get you the discount too, anything for a fellow celiac!!! Just email me.
Good-luck, I hope that you get what you need.

We are traveling to Europe and was hoping that someone might have some ideas for snacks that we can take along.
I actually just got back from a trip...I took rice crackers, and cans of chicken and tuna, gluten-free pretzels, and stax potato chips, even propel water.... I even took applesauce and fruit packs in my suitcase...I was worried I would have a mess, but. I put everything in a box, and then into my suitcase. My hubby came up with the idea to put a note inside the suitcase with a doctors slip stating that I needed to carry wheat free food with me, along with a copy of my passport next to the dr's slip.. Everything traveled well but pirates booty - that popped for somereason, and the box of cookies were all smashed...but it was still good. Watch your weight in the suitcase...it is $26.00 more I believe if you are over 50 pounds....they let me slide, mine weighed 51.5 pounds going.
I took fruit cups, and gluten-free pretzels, and almonds right on the plane in my carry on....
Good-Luck and have FUN!!

Its time to shop for new make up, everything I have is old and im not sure if its gluten free. Anybody know of a brand that is gluten free or will list the wheat? If the company uses wheat is that how they usually list it in make up? Or do they call it by other names? Thanks a bunch.
My skin was getting very thin, and would tear really easily. I had to change make-up and lotions!! It took me awhile to find some great lotions, and skin care products that were safe, gluten free, and NO mineral oils. I love, love, love the ar-bonne products. Safe and benificial. I have a list of their products that are gluten free downloaded in my computer, if you want I can send them to you.

Move to Mexico!
Just kidding - could it be a delayed reaction to something? Hope you feel better.
On the way home, we stopped at Hoss's...I just found out that their tips are marinated....with a wheat.... Most of their steaks are marinated with a wheat base....only one is plain. I am feeling better today, just a bit of itching is left. Can't wait for that to end!

I know the banana boat products are gluten free...,sorry I don't know much about coppertone. I use the nutrogena 30 spf for anti aging skin, I know their cool gels are gluten free too...hope this helps.

I have to share a great vacation with everyone!!! It was in Los Cabos, Mexcio! 6 wonderful days! I was so scared to go, but as it turned out, it was fantastic. The food was awesome, and I felt so much better - almost like before I fell sick last October. I did take some of my own food just incase I would have a hard time, but everyone was so understanding that it worked out well. I ate fresh fruit, vegs, and protien everyday. No spices, or anything, and I was extra careful - a great place to go.
I am now back home since Tuesday, and since Wednesday evening I have been so sick all over again....tired- the big D, itchy - brain-fog... I am hardley able to function. What should I do??
-
so there is a new news thingy on the side of the main website saying they did a clinical study and oats are 100% safe for celiac patients.. does this meen that oatmeal is safe?? o how i miss thee oatmeal
I used to eat oatmeal 3 times a week, loved it...of course that is before I got sick.
Now when I eat anything with oats, oatmeal, or even put lotion on containing oatmeal - I bloat real, real bad...and my skin gets very thin and tears from the lotion...
I wouldn't trust that statement nor eat oats!
-
I know most ar-bo-nne products are safe! that is what I use, and they are fantastic and without mineral oils and so forth
I have a list downloaded in my computer of what is safe w/ Ar-bonne - happy to send it to you.

I am just wondering if anyone else with Celiac have what I can only refer to as something like
the roof of my mouth has been burned. It feels like the tissue is constantly peeling off.
Just wondering if this is from gluten that I could possibily still be getting from some unknown source.
Just wondering if its from gluten?
I get this too = before I was diagnosed, I would get ulcers in my mouth. I also felt likw the skin was peeling off on my mouth.
Lately, I have been getting an ulcer onn the outside of my lips...I am hoping that it is the gluten still in me trying to come out.
I hope you feel better soon!!!

Thanks!
I wasn't sure what was safe to take that was gluten-free. I saw on one site that Tylenol and Asprin may contain Gluten, and got scared. When the next headache happens, I will be preparedl
Thanks Again!

I have been getting headaches more frequently, (not the brain fog from being glutened) What is the safest thing to take? - I haven't taken any pain medicine since I was diagnosed and the headache is just to much today.
Anyone else get frequent headaches? I had a Neurologist tell me I would start getting them and she was right.

DOG IS FOUND - June 12 - 8:15 pm
Oh my - while we were eating dinner tonight we were saying how our Emma would really love to have some scraps - then the phone rang - We were told they had our dog - the collars matched and she was a weimaraner!!!
Emma had gone onto someones side porch - ate the cat food - then curled up next to their door! She was about 2 miles from the house.
She is exhausted - very thin - and her pads are worn and torn - But she is HOME!!
I have been so sad and depressed without her. While I was so ill, she was my constant compainion!
I feel so lucky to have another day with this wonderful dog!
THANK-YOU ALL for the kind words, and prayers!
