Hi,
I had a laparoscopy as well and a course of lupron. I did have two children and the symptoms returned shortly after the pregnancy hormones went away. The lupron really helped me the most. If it's bothering you enough to wake you up at night, getting it checked out is a good idea.
Hi all. This has probably been discussed before. I saw some threads of people having endometriosis in addition to celiac/gluten intolerance...also some suggesting there is a link.
I'm beginning to wonder if I have endometriosis. Obviously I'm gluten intolerant (since i'm on this site!) and also have hashimoto's. But I've almost always had severe cramps. Not when I first started, but maybe a few years after my initial period, it's always been bad. I was prescribed Vioxx once for it, which actually worked like a charm, but now that's off the shelf for causing strokes. I was then told to take extra Ibuprofen which after 5 or so years started causing severe heartburn. They suggested going on birth control, to help. I have, but that really hasn't helped either. The doctor suggested at one point that the amount of pain could be endometriosis, and I'm beginning to wonder if, since even going on birth control hasn't helped, if I have it.
Last night it was so bad that it was almost like sharp/intense pain that would wake me up, and my period hasn't even happened this month yet. I'm just getting frustrated about this and wondering if it's more than just regular menstrual cramps.
So my question is - for those here who have it, at what point did you decide to get it checked out?

Well, I'll experiment and see what I come up with....wish me luck! If it turns out I
ll message the recipe!
I didn't answer because I'm with YOU, I want a good scone recipe!! I had the most amazing gluten free scone the other day and then I saw your post on the same day! So I was waiting around hoping someone would post a recipe

Hi,
I would like to make scones, but I'm not much of a baker. Does anyone have an great recipes for scones utilizing an all purpose flour such as Bob's Red Mill? I'd love to mix fruit into them.
Thanks!!

Have you tried the coconut milk creamers? They are sold under the "So Delicous" label. I really like the flavor as a creamy substitue and have to have the bit of sweet in my coffee as well!

I have only started the gluten free diet recently, and I have been desperately looking for a gluten free, dairy free coffee creamer with some flavor, I really don't care for just soy milk in my coffee, I find it's to thin and I don't enjoy the taste. I attempted to find out if Silk flavored creamer was gluten-free, or if Belsoy was, but I couldn't find anything definitive. These are the only two I have come across in the stores here. I am in Canada if that make a difference.
If anyone has any ideas or knowledge about this I would totally appreciate it, I am craving coffee that I love made from home soo badly!
Thank you

I've never had trouble with any of their teas, and I am extremely sensitive.
Have you eliminated dairy? That can be troublesome while you are healing for most people.
I was recently diagnosed, and am still trying to get all of the gluten out of my diet. I thought I had done so, but a couple of weeks ago started having issues, the only thing I could think of was the new Awake Tazo Tea I had just bought a package of. I cut it out, but looked on their website and they say it is gluten free. So, I just had some yesterday and this morning and I feel like I may have gotten some gluten again.Has anyone out there had issues with drinking the "gluten free" Tazo Tea? It says on their website that all but four of their teas are gluten free, but I thought maybe there is a cross contamination issue or something? Either that or I am getting gluten from some other source that I haven't figured out yet.
Thanks!

Flavorings is the red flag imo. I would call on that one.
It may just be the cc issue?? -
I am 1 year into this and have been doing remarkably well. I think I've gotten too brave, because yesterday at Germanfest I asked about the brats (they were Usingers) and whether or not they had been boiled in beer. They were, but the manager offered to cook me one that wasn't in the beer. He came back, put it in a bun and handed it to me. Then I told him I couldn't have it and why, and he cooked me another one. Sure enough, in the middle fo the night last night I thought I was going to die!!! Major cramps and then D and sweats. I woke up this morning with a huge headache, but mostly better. I just want to be somewhat normal and eat fun food sometimes that is safe!!
Any thoughts??

Hi there,
I am seriously considering going back on the SCD after about a year leave from it. I have celiac and found it to push me over the edge in the ehaling process last year. I was diagnosed about two years ago now (hey, my anniversary just passed!) and found ti so helpful. I am experiencing vague intolerances again. The motivation to go back on this diet is weak, though. Help!

Good luck at the Gyn (( Hugs ))
I don't know if your problems could be related to going gluten free, I would think it could be the opposite (maybe you had the problems, but having the proper nutrition finally by going gluten free has now enabled them to reveal themselves?)
I have a friend who had endometriosis, and had a lot of problems with her cycle, including pain and very very long periods (15+days)
I just had a Transvaginal Ultrasound - not fun.. I am waiting for the results (I was feeling better for a while but some problems started coming back recently, so they are trying to figure out what is going on.)
Talk with you soon hon
I have to agree with this post. I have endometriosis and it is alot like you have just described. I am on Nuvaring for three months on, 1 week off in order to control the symptoms. I did improve when I went gluten free, but the endometriosis still exists and can be quite painful to deal with. The only thing that keeps me regular is being on bc.
I hope you figure this prob out!

That has happened to me and I have never linked it to gluten, but it was certainly during more stressful times of my life. I've seen spiders and bats. I'm not even scared of those things! Although the spiders have been pretty big! Interesting!! A also have not had one of those dreams since I have been gluten-free!

Hi guys,
Got glutened last night by hummus- so frustrating. I was wondering if there is anything you do to help in the following days. I suffer from constipation, soreness, head fog, fatigue and nasea. In the past I have limited soild food and tried to do at home smoothies with rice protein powder. This helps to not upset my stomach as I wil feel VERY full eating the smallest meal. I was thinking too, i know that fish oil in large amounts act as an anti-inflamitory to the intestines, so the thought of raw salmon sounded very good. I am always unsure if i should double my supplements or wait a week until the gluten goes away and then try hard to heal. I usually have a delayed response (about 2 days til i feel it) then it will last about a week.
I was just wondering if you have any sort of ritual or routine that you think helps you out?
I drink alot of peppermint tea, it seems to calm my stomach.

Hi,
I have made a recipe called "Cemetary Cake" for the second time now, and it falls in the middle. It comes out of the oven looking great, and in the next few minutes sinks in. Is there an ingredient to add that would make this not happen? I can post the recipe if that helps. It is delicious regardless, very moist. I used Pamela's baking mix for the flour and there is no dairy including eggs in it.
Thanks for any help the baking divas/divos can provide!

Ok, I just read a post that mentioned that Celiacs have long eyelashes. Is that true? My lashes are growing super long since I went gluten-free. They've never been long like this before.
Who has noticed long eyelashes since starting the diet? Or did you always have lush lashes? Who thinks it's related to celiac disease?
I have long eyelashes as well, and so do both of my children. Although my oldest does not have celiac and is in the least likely category according to the genetic testing.

This will get better. The diet is a challenge at first, but you can master label-reading and knowing how to handle situations when you have to eat out. I have been diagnosed since April of 2007 and now I feel like a normal person! Even a year out, I didn't think it possible, because I was still not healed. I would have to say I was fortunate, because I did not have the psychological symptoms, like depression-but do understand that depression is a symptom of the disease!! You have had alot happen to you....know that there is a a way for you to feel better and you can do this.
Have you considered not going through the biopsy? Many people on the board have not even had positive antibody tests, but know that gluten is the poison, and have proceeded from there. I am one that was so sick, when the antibody test came back positive, I went for total gluten and dairy free without the biospy. I also saw enough of a change on the diet to feel confident in that decision. Of course it is very personal.
I am sorry that you are feeling so upset. Please know that I understand and have felt your pain. I only wish the best for you.

We have lots of snow here in Wisconsin!!! We've had three good storms in the last week-1 foot of snow last Friday, 6 inches on Sunday, 6 inches yesterday, and today we are getting about four of the wet heavy stuff. And of course our snow blower died during the first big storm!!
Anyway, it is beautiful Christmas snow!
Merry Christmas all!

Does anyone have any ideas for make-ahead hors d'ouevres?
I'm planning on crudites with hummus and dips.
Thanks!
I absolutely love rumaki. (Bacon-wrapped chestnuts) You can use gluten-free soy for the marinade.

Threads like this can be so fun!!
A couple of disagreements though-I actually had Nana's cookies before I was gluten free and liked them!! Oh well!
And Chebe breadsticks and pizza crust are good to me as well.
Least favs:
1. Energ Rice bread of course
2. Quinoa pasta was pretty nasty
3. Glutino cereal bars-weird aftertaste
Favs:
1. Pamela's anything, but especially the chocolate chunk cookies
2. Namaste chocolate cake mix
3. Trader Joe's mini beef tacos

Tim,
It really sounds like you are doing all the right things! Great work. It is so scary to watch your child have medical troubles.
I have celiac, and I am having my 7yo son biopsied next Tues. My thoughts about your daughter are in line with what you said, it doesn't make her feel good to eat, so she's refusing. As her intestines heal, (you may want to go dairy-free for some time as well in order to facilitate healing, she will be more apt to eat a variety of foods. Right now, try to find what she likes and offer that and other things that you want her to eat at meals. Smoothies could be a great option to get something high calorie that she will eat. My youngest (non-celiac) has been a picky eater his entire life and it seems to happen in phases. There is a small possibility that this is a kid-phase that will pass as well. When my guy is in his pickiest phase, we try to sneak the calories in the stuff he likes. He likes to dip anything in ketchup, so we'd always offer that. I would puree sweet potato and it into sauces as a way to add vitamins. There is a really great book by comedian Jerry Seinfeld's wife called "Decadently Delicious" that offers these types of sneaky recipes. I found it to be a very good resource during the pickiest of times.
All of that said, when your dd starts feeling better, you may not have many issues. When you feel miserable after you eat, it makes you not want to eat!!
I'd also say that I am jealous that you have such a valuable resource in Dr. Fassano! Best wishes with everything.

Hi! I was diagnosed with Celiac from biopsy in July & have been gluten-free since (except I just recently found out my make-up/ shampoo, etc. was not gluten-free...so now working that out of my system). I have severe stomach pains, but besides celiac nothing has shown on CT scans, ultrasounds, etc. I have gallbladder attacks and 4 painful masses in my stomach (2 upper rib cage area, 2 lower pelvic area) that shoot pain after eating--not as much anymore. The drs have looked and looked for the masses, but can't find them--they can feel them though...are they just super-sensitive spots? I was glutened the other day and felt extremely sick to my stomach and the pains started--it really put me out for a couple of days. Is this all part of Celiac? Does anyone else have masses? Will they go away with the pain? How do you know if you need surgery to repair your gallbladder--my biopsy came back looking pretty bad--the GI doctor said my stomach was extremely inflamed & lined in mucous--anyone else? He wasn't the best dr.--he basically told me I had Celiac and it is impossible to live with, but try to go on a gluten-free diet and see you later...Thanks for any help y'all may have!
The other possibility is inflammation in the valve area between the stomach and the intestines. Mine get very irritated when I get D from gluten.

Applebee's is a really tough one because much of their stuff is premarinated or seasoned, and the risk of cross-contamination is huge! When I eat out, I try to go somewhere that prepares the food from scratch...I have been in your position many times! I always explain my situation to the waitress and ask many questions. You really get better and more comfortable doing it, especially after you've been burned! If they will allow you to make suggestions on the restaurant, then do that by all means! Maybe you can come up with three choices and then you won't feel like you are dominating the decision=making.
Some potentially safe options:
Plain hamburger
Plain grilled chicken
Salad
Steak
Salmon
For sides, a plain baked potato or steamed vegetables.
It certainly isn't glamorous, but it takes care of the need.

Has anyone done this test?

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to fill out our survey! We are still hoping for more responses, so if you have 5 minutes to spare we ask that you take the time to thoughtfully answer our questions. Thank you again!
Will you post the results?
Thanks!

I have issues with certain foods which vary, that make my stomach gurgle. I have celiac, so have been gluten-free for four years, eat very little lactose, and am very active. The issue occurs more frequently in the evening when lying down, or sometimes when I am in quiet meetings. I tend to not eat if I know that I will need to have a quiet stomach, which does help the issue. I'm not even certain there is a pattern to which foods cause the gurgles.
Drinking hot peppermint tea seems to alleviate the issue sometimes.
I am taking a probiotic daily and I am on the minipill for birth control.
Is there any supplement I can take to alleviate this symptom? It is really a struggle for me!
Thanks!
