ARCHIVED Don't Waste Your Time
cruelshoes replied to imsohungry's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Ours has dozens of titles! Our county has lots of linked libraries, so we can check out books from any of them. We can just log in to the website, find what we want at any library in the county and put it on hold. It will be shipped to our local library and then we can pick it up. Anytime I see a new gluten-free cookbook I want to try, I always try to... -

I'm with Jersey angel, I'd definitely increase the xanthan. The general rules for adding xanthan are: -
ARCHIVED What Is Spelt?
cruelshoes replied to blondebombshell's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Spelt is an ancient form of wheat. It can sometimes be tolerated by people with a wheat allergy, but it is not safe for those on a gluten free diet because the molecular structure is too similar. It is often marketed as "wheat free", but it is not gluten free. Open Original Shared Link -

Check your local library! Our county library system has an extensive selection of gluten-free cookbooks. Maybe you can check out some of your favorites until you find yours. Our library will let us renew books twice before returning them as long as nobody else has them on hold. You could concievably have books for 3 months before you absolutely had to... -

ARCHIVED Why Cant I Get My Cookies To 'stick' Together?!
cruelshoes replied to blondebombshell's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Please post the recipe. Is it one you are modifying, or one that is already written to be gluten-free? What flour blend did you use? Does it have xanthan or guar gum in it? Without knowing those things, it is hard to diagnose the problem. -
We had an endoscopy on son when he was 6. Honestly - it was harder on me than it was on him . He was not able to eat anything after midnight, and we got to the hospital at 6 am for a 7 am appointment. They put him out with laughing gas, and then put in the IV while he was under. He freaked out a little from the feeling of the laughing gas, but it was only...

ARCHIVED Scoliosis Anyone?
cruelshoes replied to 2kids4me's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I ws diagnosed with a 12% curve in elementary school. It hasn't ever given me any trouble, although new doctors do mention it when they examine me for the first time. They run their fingers down my spine during an exam and say "do you have scoliosis?" My posture is a bit slouchy, and my mother seems to think that is a result of the scoliosis, but if I... -

My kids loved Bob the Builder too. My Son was absolutely schizoid over Thomas the Tank Engine for about 4 years. Our baby now likes Piggly Winks, but I think that one's supposed to be set in Ireland. WIthout a doubt, the best UK show ever is Red Dwarf. My husband and I used to love to geek out and watch all the marthons on PBS. I also love Absolutely... -

Welcome to the cult, Em! You can check out any time you like, but never leave. Tell us what you are wearing and how beautiful you look. You are exactly like me - I never wore makep before this thread got started. I still had all the makeup I wore to my wedding 12 years ago, and it was hardly touched! This really is fun, isn't it. ... -

It is too hard to keep up with the silliness since being places on Internet house arrest at work. We have a set like that up the street. They live in what we believe is a crack house or meth lab or some other house of horrors. They get all sorts of veeery interesting looking foot traffic in and out of the joint all day and night. It looks... -

cruelshoes replied to Mango04's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications

Have you ever seen a movie where they rob a bank and then throw the money all over the bed and roll around it while laughing hysterically? That is how I imagine Donna when her new eyeshadow sampler arrives. Rolling and laughing all over thousands of little plastic containers. How's that for a visual? -
ARCHIVED Everyday Minerals - Great gluten-free Mineral Make-up!
cruelshoes replied to Mango04's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I am quoting myself becasue I said this wrong. I actually have in the garden on as a liner, not bedtime story. Using bedtime story as a liner would be wierd. Who uses favorite hoodie as a shadow? What do you wear it with? It is way to brown for a blush for me, so I want to use it as a shadow. I love silver spoon as a liner, but I want to use it... -

I have Swimming Pool - I'm wearing it today in fact. It looks really brown in the jar, but I like it on. It has no sparkle, so it's good for days when you don't want that. I thought the same thing about snowflakes, but it's really not that dark when you put it on. I wore that one yesterday. I am wearing Cypress today. I have it on as... -

Just popping in to say that Donna's new new avatar looks even prettier than the other new one. Love mango's new one too. Julie's was already pretty. -
You got it. I hope they find a quick and easy resolution. It is scary to think of something going wrong with ones eyes.

No, no, this will never do. On Tart it up Tuesday, the pumps must be RED! As a member of the same cult, I know exactly why this is so exciting. Cheri - i had the same problem at first because I had never used mineral makeup before. I found a salon in town that does Bare Escentuals consultations. I went in there under... -

ARCHIVED What Made You Have Your Child Tested?
cruelshoes replied to Hopefulmama's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
We had both of our kids tested immediately after I was diagnosed because they are my first degree relatives. My son had no outward symptoms, except for no growth for a year. His tTg was nearly as high as mine was, and I was almost dead. It really said a lot to me about how outward symptoms don't necessarily correlate to internal damage. -
It generally takes me a few hours to feel the effects of a gluten exposure. What did you order off the Outback menu? If you got the vegetables, did you make sure to ask that they were unseasoned?
