cruelshoes replied to Mango04's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
But if I empty my cart and there really IS a new special, I will have to choose all my eyeshadow colors again. I don't think I can go through that again - it was worse than childbirth!!! Too many good choices! -

ARCHIVED Everyday Minerals - Great gluten-free Mineral Make-up!
cruelshoes replied to Mango04's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Mixing it in with my moisturizer works the best for me too. Then I spot cover some red spots with the mint concealer, and do another light dusting of foundation. Then a bit of blush, eyeshadow, and mascara and I am good to go for the day. 5 minutes well spent. I have fallen in love with the EM eyeliner (Smokey) and eyeliner brush. It gives a much... -
ARCHIVED Quick Brown Rice
cruelshoes replied to sallyterpsichore's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Pressure cookers are also great for brown rice. You can cook it in less than 20 minutes. We don't use any white rice anymore since we got our pressure cooker. -
ARCHIVED Document For Doctors To Sign For Taxes
cruelshoes replied to skikat's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Happygirl is correct above. If you have a flexible spending account, however, you can use that to claim the difference between the regular version and the gluten free version even if you don't meet the 7.5% threshold. gluten-free food is considered medically necessary for our diagnosis, so it falls under the FSA guidelines. See this link for more info... -
ARCHIVED Restaurant Frustration
cruelshoes replied to horsegirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
In the resturant managers' defense, many localities have laws that prevent them from allowing you to bring in outside food. Also, if they allowed you to bring in their own food, and you got sick, you could still sue them for it because it happened at their place. In today's litigious society, I am not surprised they are hesitant to allow it. If it were... -

ARCHIVED Does Anyone Know Of A Vegetarian Substitute For Gelatin?
cruelshoes replied to LauraWass's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I personally would use xanthan gum or guar gum, but here are a few pages with other ideas. There are some kosher gelatins that are vegetarian, but you'd have to check on the gluten aspect. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link -
ARCHIVED Everyday Minerals - Great gluten-free Mineral Make-up!
cruelshoes replied to Mango04's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The only thing I have found that isn't working for me is the first blush I got - text message. It's way too dark red and brown. I tried it as a lip color and it's too dark that way, too. Maybe I could mix it with something. Haven't tried that yet. I think the color swatches on the EM website are somewhat misleading but the color card they sent me with... -

ARCHIVED New gluten-free Bakery In Kent, Wa
cruelshoes replied to cruelshoes's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Glad you tried it and liked it, Tiffany. I think we are going to go there tomorrow to check it out. I am determined to make the link work. I think if I use Tiny URL I will get around the board's URL protection. Let's see if this works. I should also mention that I have no financial interest in this company, just want to eat some gluten-free food... -
According to the CSA, the fries have been tested independently and the gluten level is BLD (below levels of detection). Fries will never be a health food, and CC is always a possibility. I do allow my son to eat them at McDonald's on occasion because the gluten in the end product cannot be detected in the most sensitive testing available. We have never...

ARCHIVED Everyday Minerals - Great gluten-free Mineral Make-up!
cruelshoes replied to Mango04's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Boo-hoo. I still do not have my order yet. Will you vote me off the island if I don't have new colors to try? EM says the USPS picked it up on Saturday, the USPS says oh no we didn't. The very nice rep at EM said that if it doesn't show up soon, they will re-ship it. If I don't have it by Monday, I will ask them to do just that. I hope I still get... -

I got Plum Dust, and I really like it. It's not orange at all. It looks very natural on me. It warms up my natural lip color and doesn't scream LIPSTICK! at people who walk by. I haven't tried any of the other lip colors. YET!!!! -
Definitely try the Kinnikinnick Kinnitoos. The chocolate and vanilla flavors are both great. My husband could not believe they were gluten-free. I have to hide them from my kids because they can't stop eating them. And if my kids eat them all, there are none left for me!! Open Original Shared Link I think the Mi-del ones are only good for crushing...

ARCHIVED Weight Gain After Diagnosis
cruelshoes replied to Judybrooks's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Judy - I have heard people on other celiac boards rave about the Weight Watchers core diet - Open Original Shared Link. I don't know much about it, but it is supposed to be quite amenable to the gluten-free diet. I had always been very thin before my diagnosis, but once I went gluten-free, I started to put on weight rapidly. I got pregnant and gained 60 pounds...
