ARCHIVED I Need Your Assistance To Understand My Results
Amyleigh0007 replied to Rockgurl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Is that all the information they sent you? I ordered the gene test today but I thought they would send an explanation along with the results. How long did it take to get the test and then get your results? -

ARCHIVED Habba Syndrome As Well As Celiac Disease?
Amyleigh0007 replied to Noel1965's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I also saw the Mystery Diagnosis about Habba Syndrome. It was very interesting. I learn a lot from that series. -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free/friendly Fast Food Chains,
Amyleigh0007 replied to Serversymptoms's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I had to research this myself last week. I was going to have to eat lunch out for two days in a row and I wanted to be prepared with a list of "safe" things to eat at local fast food places. This is what I found out; Arby's has three salads Chopped Italian, Chopped Turkey, and Chopped Turkey Club with Dijon Honey Mustard or Balsamic Vinaigrette dressing... -
ARCHIVED Is It Gluten-intolerance?
Amyleigh0007 replied to mott07's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Enterolab has a stool test that will test for gluten sensitivity. You can order it yourself (no doctor needed) online and the results will tell you if you truly have a problem with gluten. In my opinion, if the test would come back positive you will know it's the diet that is making you feel better. If it came back negative you will know that it was the... -
B-12 also helped me a lot. I take a pill that dissolves under my tongue. I believe the brand is Nature Made and it states gluten free on the bottle.

ARCHIVED Going To The Allergist
Amyleigh0007 replied to mom2my3girls's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
When my son was tested for allergies they did blood tests. I don't think the skin prick test is possible on a baby since you must not touch the pricks for 15 minutes (and if they are positive they will swell and itch and it is hard to not touch them!). They will also want a full history so I would write things down so you don't forget anything. I wanted... -
ARCHIVED Have Been Trying To Stay Away From Gluten- Lump On Back Head
Amyleigh0007 replied to Serversymptoms's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I had a lump on the back of my head, behind my right ear, right along my hair line. It got larger each year. It was about an inch long. It also pulsed. My dertotologist told me what it was but I forgot the offical name. Anyway, it was a bundle of blood vessels that had grown out of control and would continue to grow. My dermo said if I would bump it... -
ARCHIVED Betty Crocker Mixes - Other Allergens?
Amyleigh0007 replied to JustCan's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have the chocolate chip cookies in front of me. The ingredients are rice flour, semi-sweet chocolate chips (sugar, chocolate liquor, cocoa butter, soy lecithin, vanilla), brown sugar, sugar, potato starch, potato flour, leavening (baking soda, sodium acid pyrophosphate, monocalcium phosphate, salt. You add 1/2 cup butter, one teaspoon vanilla, one egg... -

We are staying at a condo of a dear friend and I did not want her to have to worry about cooking for us so I told her I would be bringing our food for the week. I would like to be able to bring frozen food (mac and cheese, pizza, chicken nuggets, fish sticks- kid friendly stuff) that can be heated up in a microwave so I don't have to worry about her pots...

Delay Of Reaction And Symptoms Normal?
Amyleigh0007 replied to loxleynew's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Your symptoms sound so much like mine. My diarrhea was mainly at night too. I always thought it was because I ate pasta and bread at dinner and I ate lightly during the day. I have never heard the term "nocturnal diarrhea" but I can say that I have (had) that. I am glad you brought that up because I have never heard anyone on this forum state they only... -
Delay Of Reaction And Symptoms Normal?
Amyleigh0007 replied to loxleynew's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thank you! Your explanation was awesome! So many people on this forum say that if you truly have Celiac disease your reactions become much worse and come on faster but I didn't think that was necessarly true. I thought too that if your body has healed it would take more time for it to react to the gluten, not the opposite. So many people on here think... -
ARCHIVED Watcha Making For The 4th?
Amyleigh0007 replied to purple's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips

ARCHIVED Where To Start
Amyleigh0007 replied to Ruby & Logans Mom's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I was in your shoes. It's so overwhelming but it does get much easier. My son is the one with "official" Celiac but my daughter and I are also gluten free. My husband is gluten free at home with the exception of bread and Doritos (he can't give up the Doritos!). He keeps the bread and chips away from the rest of the food. Other than that, our home is... -
Delay Of Reaction And Symptoms Normal?
Amyleigh0007 replied to loxleynew's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My reactions are delayed now too. A dear friend baked me a gluten free birthday cake a few months ago. She was so proud of it and I was extremely leary (but happy that she did that for me). While we were at lunch she wanted me to try a slice. I did. The next day I got sick. I knew immediately it was the cake since that was the only out of ordinary... -
ARCHIVED If Your Kid Is "glutened" Should You Consider Vaccines?
Amyleigh0007 replied to inskababy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I would say that at some point many people on this forum have been "attacked" for their personal opinions and views. I have. Don't care what people think. You know you do the best you can for your children and that's all that matters. This forum is wonderful for asking questions and getting advice (some advice you will find helpful and some you won't... -
Keratosis Pilaris - Link To Celiac?
Amyleigh0007 replied to achiera's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I had KP, really bad on my arms and legs. My dermatologist gave me a salicylic lotion to use but it didn't work. The only thing that worked was the gluten free diet. I haven't had a problem since I went gluten free. -
ARCHIVED In Case Anyone Was Wondering About..
Amyleigh0007 replied to Jamie's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I totally agree with you. I will gladly pay $4 for gluten free cookies/brownies/cake that is easy to make, sold in regular stores, and tastes delicious. -
ARCHIVED Betty Crocker gluten-free Mixes
Amyleigh0007 replied to purple's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi! I am from the St. Louis area (about 40 minutes west). Yes, most Schnucks stores now have the mixes. I have tried the cookies and brownies. They are really good. My son describes them as tasting "real" if that tells you anything -
ARCHIVED Food For Travel?
Amyleigh0007 replied to dandelionmom's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
If you like peanut butter that would be good to take. You can eat it with apples, spread it on a corn torilla and add a banana, spread it on crackers. I also put it on Hershey bars. Now I am really hungry for peanut butter...... -
ARCHIVED Could I Have Celiac?
Amyleigh0007 replied to bacon pants's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My tests were negative too. When my tests came back negative I was angry becasue I wanted a black and white, on paper diagnosis. I went to an allergist for a second opinion and she diagnosed me with gluten intolerance. Now, one year later, I realize that I don't need a black and white, on paper diagnosis of Celiac. I feel so much better now and I know... -
That's a bummer that some parts of the country don't have the Betty Crocker mixes yet. I would think out here in Missouri we would be the last place to get them but it seems like we are the first. I have made the cookies and brownies and they are both really, really good. There's also devel's food cake and a vanilla cake mix. I haven't tried them yet...
