Hi Ladies,
My husband and I are trying to conceive, but I have been very irregular my entire life (and also have a few cysts). As a result, my doctor put me on Clomid, a medicine that's meant to induce ovulation, I'm just wondering if any of you have had similar symptoms with celiac disease?
I've been gluten free for awhile but still am irregular, they say it's borderline polycystic ovarian syndrome, but I don't have the hormonal imbalances or any other symptoms than missed periods.
Is it possible that the celiac disease is causing the irregular periods, even though I'm on a gluten-free diet?
Also, have any of you taken clomid successfully?
One more question , which prenatal do you recommend to someone with a lot of food sensitivities/sensitive stomach?

Haven't been on here in awhile...so this is what's been going on...
1. I was tested (blood) for celiac disease 2 years ago and the test came back negative
2. This past summer my GP told me to go on the gluten free diet because she thought I was gluten intolerant.
3. Go gluten free for months, get glutened while traveling in January and get VERY SICK
Come back home, go to the doctor
4. Sigmoidoscopy is normal; no crohn's and no colitis (had an mri of my stomach, everything looks good)
5. Finally, Gastro does the genetic test for Celiac disease. I test positive for the HLA DQ8 Gene. Not sure how to read the rest of the info, haven't spoken with the doctor (the results were faxed to me just now).
Other symptoms: mouth sores every two weeks, reproductive issues, 'Irritable bowel syndrome', asthma, can't gain weight worth a dime!
I've tested negative for everything...until now, finally a positive test...I never thought I'd be so relieved...but now I'm paranoid lol
What are the chances that I can have Celiac disease if I have the HLA DQ8 gene??????? THANKS!

I've been on a gluten free diet for about two months now, and though it hasn't taken everything away, it has helped some.
This past weekend, I decided to be adventurous (aka stupid) and try out a cereal that said 'wheat free'; little did I know this doesn't mean gluten free. Around the same time I started eating the cereal, I started consuming lactose free milk.
Since I was little, milk has given me gas (sorry to be blunt) and when I got older, it made me nauseous and bloated so I took it out of my diet. I can handle small amounts of cheese or dairy in baked goods, but not straight up.
Anyhow, ever since I started having the cereal that, I just discovered, has a lot of gluten and started consuming lactose free milk, I have been sick every morning after breakfast. Cramping, burning, having to go to the bathroom a lot, gassy...the works, it's so annoying.
I'm going to take out the gluten first, because I think that was it (since I haven't had gluten in 2 months and haven't felt this bad since). But has anyone ever reacted like this to LACTOSE FREE milk? I was recently tested for a casein allergy and don't have that, so I can't understand how it could be the lactose free milk. OR does it sound like I've been glutened? Which I have, just don't know if the gluten is really making me feel this bad...

I was curious to see if anyone here also had a fructose intolerance?
Also, how did you go about getting tested for it?

Hi All,
I'm having some problems finding a dairy/gluten free frosting recipe that doesn't contain palm or soybean oil, as I am very sensitive to those oils (I can have canola and olive though). For instance, I used to use Earth Balance but I couldn't handle it...any suggestions? Usually I have to resort to a simple glaze...but I'd really love a great frosting recipe .

I too am new to diagnosis and being gluten free (a couple of weeks now.) I too have improved significantly - so much so I can tell if I have been accidentally glutened. I am also on the constipated side, and I also get that burning sensation in my stomach. Overall things have improved in a very short period of time, I think a lot of it is just about the body healing - and then the body learning how to respond after its healed. You are definitely not alone, hang in there

I started the gluten-free diet about a week ago. Though I improved in that I'm no longer experiencing stomach cramps, I have noticed that I still get that 'burning' sensation in my gut after eating certain foods, like onions or soda for instance. Also, before the gluten free diet, I was prone to diarrhea and frequent BMs...and now I'm a bit more on the constipated side, which is strange...
I'm a bit confused as to what these things could mean.
I go back to the gastro in a few weeks, but there isn't an earlier appointment and I'm not sure who to ask about this.
Any advice/tips would be helpful.

Hi All
After wearing the IBS label for about 10 years, then having my gallbladder removed, in addition to having my asthma worsen and experiencing new symptoms...I feel better after being on the gluten free diet that my new doctor put me on about a week ago. THANK GOD! I haven't had stomach cramps in almost a week!
My birthday is this weekend and I plan on still staying on the gluten free diet; I feel better, might as well. Only thing is, my husband wants me to find a cake recipe, a gluten free one.
I would love a strawberry or lemon gluten free cake (with little to know dairy, as too much makes me sick). Do you all have any great recipe suggestions?

Both my mom and I get stomach cramps when we eat sugar on an empty stomach. I am also lactose intolerant (still waiting to see if I have celiac disease or a gluten sensitivity). Is it common to be this sensitive to other foods when you have a gluten sensitivity?

Hi All,
I do not know what to think at this point and I am very scared/frustrated. I had an endoscopy 1.5 years ago before having my gallbladder removed and it came back normal; the doctor didn't do a biopsy. I tested negative for Celiac's disease in the bloodtest. However, when I started developing other symptoms, muscle weakness, dizzy spells, low blood sugar issues, I got a blood test that revealed that I tested positive for antinuclear antibodies (which means I have some autoimmune disease). The doctor said he wouldn't be able to diagnose me until I developed new symptoms. That's the only blood test I have knowledge of, I haven't had the full panel.
I think I mentioned this earlier on, but I had a high white blood cell count in my stool when it was tested a few years ago.
Basically, I've had stomach problems my ENTIRE LIFE. But they've gotten worse as I've gotten older. I have a constant burning pain in my stomach and nausea, with stomach cramps and occasional D. I notice that the only time I feel no pain is when my stomach is empty, but then my blood sugar drops.
I've been on the gluten-free diet for 2 days and I haven't felt nauseous these two days and my stomach cramps have subsided...I know it's still too early to tell, and I really don't want to get too optimistic, but I don't know where to go at this point. Is there a test they can do to see if I'm just intolerant? I am lactose intolerant...going back to the gastro in a few weeks, is there another test I should request??

Yes, like everyone else here, I am TIRED OF THE STUPID IBS TITLE!
I am 23 going on 99 (well, my body certainly feels like it and I've had a 'sensitive' stomach my ENTIRE life. Be prepared for bluntness...
I had bad colic as a baby. Growing up as a child, I'd have such bad 'gas pains' that I couldn't walk. Going into my teen years, I started developing 'IBS' like symptoms (frequent bowel movements, urgency to use the bathroom). In college, I developed gallbladder disease, but don't fit the stereotype of someone with gallbladder disease (I am a stick! 94lbs, 5'3''). Now out of college, I have pretty much every digestive problem imaginable...here they are, the lovely symptoms:
Gas, bloating, horrible abdominal cramping, stomach ache after nearly every meal, weight loss (I've lost 12 pounds since college), the 'runs', and (gross, I know) something that appears to be mucous in my stool. I also get stomach viruses often...I don't get it! I am also lactose intolerant, I can handle very small amounts of dairy, but I haven't had a glass of milk in 10 years. Stool also tested positive for high white blood cell count. Does any of this sound familiar to anyone?
In college, I also developed these symptoms: Severe night sweats, muscle cramping and spasms, heat intolerance, dizziness.
Went back to the doctor today (unwilling, I hate going to the doctor!!!) and now they want me to go on a gluten free diet. My blood test didn't present any gluten allergy, but I haven't had a colonoscopy yet...that's next, and I am dreading it VERY much .
Sad thing is, I LOVE TO BAKE! But baked goods make me sick, I'm not sure if it's the sugar or the gluten. I am not sure what to do at this point...I'm tired of waiting, that's for sure!

Thanks! Unfortunately, the doctor doesn't think I have insulin resistance because I'm quite thin :/...but I have a feeling if the clomid alone doesn't work, he will prescribe it.
