Well it was eating gluten until last Wed. Now my biggest interest is finding gluten free foods. Oh and my husband and 2 sons are quite a big interest as well.

  1. Hello

I have not been on for a long time so I am hoping you all can help me.

I have a chance to do a study for a vaccine so I can eat normal again. I was diagnosed with blood and endoscopy. I really didn't have any symptoms. I found out by accident in 09 and have been gluten-free since.

Any way....this study is for a vaccine and I would have to eat gluten cookies every other day for 4 days, then get a vaccine. Thats pretty much the gist of it. ......I think. And I get $800.00 for doing it.

Can any one please tell me if this is a bad thing to do or safe or unsafe.

Thank you so much for reading.

  2. Do you have a night job or something that you eat so late at night? So it sounds like your real issue is that you need to get more variety in your food. Check out the thread that Kareng posted. Also since you don't have any other food intolerances there is no reason why you can't have a grilled cheese sandwhich. Just make it on gluten-free bread. Udi's and Rudi's brands both make great grilled cheese (or so I hear I can't eat cheese but I do eat those breads toasted and their good).

Doritos are not gluten-free AFAIK. If you are still eating gluten you are more liekly to be emotional about this longer and more liekly to crave gluteny foods. Everything else you listed sounds okay--except maybe candy bars that depends on the type and there are not many you can trust to be gluten-free. Why don't you eat any vegetables or fruit? It sounds like you like convience foods that are quick and easy. A can of fruit or a banana is easy to eat. You can get those frozen steamer bags of plain veggies to use for side dishes for your meat or mix up with rice and stir fry.

I just am a night owl. I eat the cool ranch doritos that are gluten-free. And the candy I eat is gluten-free. So the bread really is good? I bought some bread 1 time that weighed 5 pounds and horrible. I will try it. Thanks so much

  3. I still don't know why that is the only things you think you can eat? Look on the dinner thread like I suggested.

    Here's what I ate yesterday:

    gluten-free Rice Krispies

Left-over rice, corn, cheese, mild pepper casserole with added fresh tomatoes

    Kettle corn

    Dinner (whole family ate this):

Red potatoes cut into little pieces, tossed with olive oil & cooked on the grill wrapped in foil

Pork Chops cooked on grill - marinated in gluten-free worchestshire sauce, garlic & pepper

Salad - spinach, carrot, red pepper, feta with salad dressing

    Cookie/candy bar cookie thingy

My god....can i come to your house to eat? Thank you so much. You are great.

  4. Thanks every one.

Ok why I only eat 1 meal a day??? I am tired of eating the same crap. I want to go make a grilled cheese like normal people. When I said I dont feel any better I meant I dont feel any different. Nothing was wrong with me before. I would get occasional naus. But that is it. No symptoms. I had a endoscopy twice and blood work. I got it.

I weigh 107. I want to be back at 115. But im only 5'4. I have a tiny boned family. Finish genes I guess.

So here is what I eat per day.....

Dinner around 10 or 11 pm..---salmon and rice, or pork chop and can of pintos, or meat patty and can of baked beans. That is my rotation.

Then I eat a bowl of chex, doritos, candy bars and or chips with dip.

I do take nightly walks late.

ok so I am ready for help that I can really live with.

Thanks so much every one for understanding.

  5. I think you might feel better if you ate more than one meal a day. What are the reasons you only eat one meal?

When you say you want real food, what kind of things are you missing?

You say you haven't improved in 2 years, and that the dr said you were very bad off 2 years ago. You also mention your family is unsupportive. That brought a few thoughts to mind:

    - Is your home gluten-free? If not, this could be a big part of your problem.

    - Have you had your blood work redone? If not, you might want to do that. If so, what were the results?

    - Have you considered trying a healing diet like GAPS or SCD? It could be that the damage your gut has from gluten in the past hasn't had a chance to heal, and other foods are causing you problems in the meantime.

    Hey there.

I had a biopsy and blood work done. What I meant was I didnt even know I this till vit. d was low. I dont feel any different is what I meant to say. Never runny poops, never any thing weird except naus. sometimes. Every thing in my house id gluten-free except my sons stuff. What healing diets are talking about? I want to do that. Do they really work? I only eat 1 meal because im tired of eating the same thing over and over.

  6. I am not out for sympathy first of all. I am having a break down. I cant do this any longer. I made a gluten-free strawberry short cake and was crap. I eat 1 meal a day. And dinner is either pork chop, salmon, or hamburger patty. I want real food.

What would happen if i just said screw it and ate what i wanted? My husband has no sympathy for me at all. My friends and family dont get it so they just say eat what I want.

My mom was finish and always had something wrong with her stomach. She was never diagnosed. Now she has passed away.

Please give me ideas someone about what the worst that could happen if I ate normal . I have dreams of eating gluten all the time.

Help I cant cope any more.

  7. Hi

I was diagnosed in feb and was at a loss as well. I cant believe how many foods are naturally gluten-free. Here is what I eat...

    home made french fries

boarshead meat rooled up with cheese

    any veggie

any REAL meat from the butcher

    a lot of candy

    edys ice cream

I have a whole mess of stuff i could send you. I thought I was going to die when I had to do this but it is really easy. You will get used to it. I havent made any thing out of a gluten-free cook book and dont plan on it. If you need any more help please just ask

  8. My neice is going to be two in about two weeks and she only wieghs 20lbs. She has been having diahrrea in the mornings for a while now and has been exhibiting some aggresive tendencies. My sister wants to get her tested and i told her i would get on this forum and gain some insight from those with more experience Both me and my sister (neice's mother) have been diagnosed with Celiac disease and so we have had our suspicions for a while now. So i guess my question is: are these symptoms typical for other children with celiac disease? and what steps should be aken for a child to get tested? (an endoscopy seems so invasive for such a small person

My son is 5 and weighs 40 pounds which is right where he should be according to the Dr. There are so many over weight kids out there because there parents let them watch tv and eat all day instead of playing out side so when people see a child at a healthy weight it is weird to them. Her weight is fine.

  9. Hi all,

I am just wondering if anyone here counts their calorie intake or at least records what is eaten through out the day? If so has this helped you to not over eat or make sure that you are eating enough?

I eat what ever I want..not gluten though...And I dont gain weight at all. i want to because I only weigh 118 but the dr says that is a healthy weight so that is fine with me.

  10. I to was diagnosed in feb. when I went in for a simple check up. I then was sent to gi dr and he said I had celiacs. I had no symptoms except vitamin defecincy. Sorry I cant spell. Any way I know how you feel. There are days I am so nauseas I just have to lay in bed and take drugs that knock me out. It sucks. I do know from what I have read on here if you dont follow the diet you can get really bad things...even cancer. I would like to know the answer to this question too.

    good luck

  11. Hi

I never new I had celiacs. I went for an annual physical and my blood work came back and I wasnt absorbing vitamins. So i went to GI and was diagnosed after endoscopy.

So here is what I am wondering...I know not to eat gluten and I dont at all. But do i really have to worry about getting sick if I actually do eat some accidently? And what kind of sick do people get from eating it. I dont understand. So I assume I donnot have a sensitivity I just cant eat it because of the vitamin issue. So if I do get some some how I wont get sick....right?

I really need to know the answer to this. My Dr cant even answer it.

  12. Sorry in advance for the spelling...I cant spell

ok I was diagnosed with celiacs about 2 months ago. But still almost every day I get nauseas. Sometimes it may be light and will go away in a few min. Other times like today it is so bad that I have to take perscription naseas meds and go lay down. But I never throw up! Feel like it is coming up any second but doesnt.

So here is a normal day for me so you can see if it is something I am doing.

Get up at 7:45. I dont eat breakfast since diagnosed. Eat either taco bell tostada with sour cream or boars head lunch meat with bordon american cheese...no bread. Then maybe some lays stax for a snack. then dinner around 8. That will be either chicken, salmon, steak. With rice usually. Maybe 2 nights a week I get wendys baked potatoe with butter and sour cream and a chilli. Then bed at arounf 10.

So that is my life. I dont work. I am a stay at home mom and my son goes to school 8:30 till 12:30.

Can some one please help me with this. I am sick of feeling like this. And the only thing wrong that the docter can find is low iron and vitamin d. I take vitamin d once a week like docter said to do but cant take the iron pill....it made me very nauseas.

Thankyou to any one who can help.
