Thank you all!
It's so misserable. It feels like Acid Reflux, but I didn't think it would come back so severe and sudden when i'm on the zantac. I will check out that website. Thank you. I had never heard of anything like that.

Hey there. I recentley self diagnosed myself and my stomach problems have resolved. Thanks goodness. I've felt a ton better, but here recentley I have started getting allergic type reations to different things.
I'm already gluten free, dairy free, and corn free. Lately i've had tightening in the chest, tingle arms and legs, a general weak feeling after eating certain things. The only things I can narrow it down to are strawberries, potatos and sea salt. This is the most awful feeling. It's like i'm extremely anxious and jittery and my chest feels funny along with my fingers, toes, legs arms and sometimes mouth. If I take a Benadryl it calms it down some. I feel like I can't eat anything anymore!! It's really scary. I feel that sooner or later I will be eating nothing?
Advice?! Should I go see an allergist?
-
Thank you.
I have my first GI appt Wednesday. I'm just NERVOUS!! I want to know what the heck is going on. What would make it so tender just when I push on it? It makes me wonder if it is yeast overgrowth in intestines, scar tissue from them pulling the gallbladder through there, God forbid ..cancer
I'm sure I will get some answers Wed and if not..i'll call my gallbladder surgeon.
-
I'm sorry, I do not know how to word what i'm trying to ask.
At times, right above my belly button and below my stomach "hurts" (It is RIGHT above my belly button..almost on my belly button).
Example: If one of my kids run up and sit on my stomach, it is painful. Almost sore like. Not like a stabbing pain, but a raw ache. I can also feel my heartbeat very strong when I push right there.
It hurts worse after I accidentally eat something with Dairy and/or caffeine.
If i'm just sitting around, it doesn't hurt at all! Only if i'm laying flat on my back or I push on it.
Could this have anything to do with my gallbladder surgery? I can't remember exactly when it started.

CMG- Thanks! I will definitely take you up on that..lol! She love powdered donuts, biscuits, pizza, ad she likes the softness of regular bread(example: wonder bread) Our Gluten free bread is kind of hard and the only way it tastes good is if I toast it..which she doen't like. IT's great to hear that the school is on board with the diet. That's a sense of relief to me. lol!
Vicky it's really sad that your own family notices the difference, but doesn't want to change huh? That's been the most aggrivating thing for me. They all notice she is doing better, but refuse to cooperate.
-
No, I haven't seen my doctor again. I have never heard of that either..hmm. I agree it is taking a long time to recover from the surgery. So many told me it was a breeze, but mine was painful for a long time.
When you say sore lower bowel, what do you mean (sorry if that is to personal) My stomach is tender to touch right above my belly button and below my stomach. What would that be? Could that be where a possible Ulcer would be located? It is only tender at certain times. (early in the morning, when i'm very hungry, when laying on my back and one of my kids plops down on my stomach) I think it sounds like an Ulcer, but i'm not sure.

Thank yo both for your stories. It is very encouraging to read them. I truly beleive this diet is helping my daughter. She seems so different and much happier now. It breaks myheart when she cries for foods she can't have. I just encourage other snacks that I hope she will take to. Thankfully, she has always loved fruit. That helps a ton!
Thanks again.

Thank yo uall so much. That really eases my nerves. I keep telling myself it has to be the change in diet. I was so used to smothering everything in cheese and eating lots of sweets and breads. Now I basically eat raw fruits, veggies, lean meats, and everything made of rice (rice tortillas, rice milk etc..)
That is interesting to hear that overweight tend to lose weight and underweight tend to gain. It makes sense though.
Joyce that is so strange isn't it? I had a few problems after my daughter was born in Oct, but nothing like what occurred after my gallbladder surgery. It's awful now!
Thank you all again!

Yeah it's pretty crazy that after all the thousands of dollars i've spent trying to figure out what was wrong with me, I finally figured it out myself. My symptoms were so all over the place, doctors were sending me here there and everywhere. Noone had a clear diagnosis. I had my gallbladder removed for nothing! I was told I had Orthostatic Hypotension(a heart/circulation condition) Anxiety(was told that by about 5 doctors!), Depression, IBS, Ulcers(not sure if I have these or not), Acid Reflux and GERD(I think i really do have this and am on Rantidine every night) But I still had extreme belly pain. Stabbing in upper right quad, extreme acid reflux, anxiety, confusion, etc.. It was CRAZY! Most all of my symptoms are GONE now!
Did you tell your doctor about your self-diagnosis?
Yes, I told him and he said "well it sounds like it is working for you. Keep doing that." (did not suggest testing in any way since I was already on a gluten free diet)
How did he respond to it? Was he accepting or dismissive? He kind of laughed it off, but then again he said to keep on it.
Did he want to or insist on proving or disproving it with "traditional" testing? He really didn't care.
If so, and you refused to go back to gluten for the testing, how did they respond to that?
If you would end up being admitted to a hospital for some reason and have to give a medical history, do you tell them that you have celiac disease? I would definitely tell them that, even though I do not know for sure if I have Celiac.
If not, how do you explain that you'll require a gluten-free diet? I explain my complete medical history and self daignosis
Do you tell friends and family that you're gluten intolerant or that you have celiac disease? My family is my biggest challenge thus far. They think it's just a fad diet. They are very rude and sarcastic with me, so I end up taking my own food everywhere I go.
-
Most of their stuff has worked fine for me..so far. I can't eat much of it anyway because of all my other intolerances.
I did notice their Ground Cinnamon is not labeled Gluten Free, but it doesn't have ingredients listed either. I thought since ingredients weren't listed, it was simply cinnamon, but I do think it may have wheat flour or something as a filler because I reacted to it. Boo! (I should have stayed away without a "Gluten Free" label)

That pain and acid reflux are my two main symptoms if i've been glutened. I actually had my gallbladder removed because of the location of the pain before I self diagnosed myself with Celiac/Gluten intolerance. I still get the pain so I know it wasn't my gallbladder. Everyone can be different though, if it doesn't go away, i'd get it checked.

lizajane: OMG! That sounds exactly like her!! She was getting to the point that I di dnot recognize her. She was throwing fits and waking up ALL night long. Since the gluten free diet though, she has been 90% better. She still has her days, but nothing like it was before. And my husband also agrees, she is a totally different child now. Thanks for the advice. I will start telling them the doctor said she has to be on it!

Thanks for replying to all of my posts
!!
I'm so happy she is doing better too. I am so disgusted with their pediatrician. She has constantly offended me with both of my daughters. Eveyrone has told me to change doctors and i'm looking into it right now. I've waited far to long as it is.
The hardest part is our family won't take it seriously because neither of us have been diagnosed by a doctor. They feed her whatever she asks for or whatever they have. Then when I tell them she is positively responding to this diet, they just laugh at me.

Thank you! I am such a worry wart and always assume the worst.
My family told me the same thing. I cut out all processed foods, sweets, caffeine, snacks, dairy, etc.. and that was mainly what I previously ate. A LOT of cheese and sweets and bread!

I recentley self diagnosed myself with Gluten Intolerance/Celiac(not sure which for sure) and then I started reading about children with it and a light bulb went off. My 3 year old daughter has been labeled "failure to thrive", but the pediatrician wont do anything about it. I'm been really worried about my daughter because she is so tiny. She is 3yrs old and only weighs 27lbs. She wouldn't eat anything! Seriously, I could not get the child to eat.
However, I started her on a gluten free diet and she has put on weight! Her little belly is poking out and I can no longer feel her backbone and ribcage. She is actually hungry now and asks for food!
I don't know if it was just good timing or if she really is gluten intolerant/celiac. Any opinions?

I've been semi over weight my entire life, however after self diagnosing myself a few months ago, i've dropped a lot of weight very easily.
I've never been able to lose weight easily. Actually, I couldn't lose weight at all, even with strenuous excercise. Since going Gluten Free (also Dairy Free(gives me stomach cramps and D), Corn Free(gives me headaches and sinus infections), and Cane Sugar Free(gives me heart palpitations and sweats)) i've lost about 12-15lbs. I don't feel bad, my stomach never hurts anymore and i have more energy, but it's just a bit scary to me.
I'm always terrified something major is wrong. I have such extreme acid reflux or GERD that i'm taking 2 Ranitidine at bedtime every night and sometimes I still have flare ups. I haven't been diagnosed by a GI, but rather my general physician. I do have a GI appt at the end of this month, so i'm anxious about that.
I was bulimic for almost 3 years when I was a teenager and i'm always terrified that that caused esophagus damage. Now that I have such bad reflux and pain, and not losing weight makes me automatically think cancer
I hate being a worry wart. Any words of advice?

We use that Gluten Free Corn Flake Crumb as well. But I fried Chicken Breasts with it. It was the best chicken I had ever cooked myself!
I just washed the chicken in water really well and while they were very damp coated them with the Cornflake Mixture. I had let some Extra Virgin Olive Oil heat in a skillet on the stove top, then just fried the chicken in that. It was so good!
-
I recently bought the new Gluten Free Cinnamon Chex and they have given me an awful reaction. I didn't see anything on the ingredients that make me believe they contain any gluten, so then I decided possibly the milk was giving me the bad reaction. Either way, i'm staying away from it.
I've also found that most processed foods that are labeled Gluten Free have not settled well with me. I do much better on organic meats, fruits, and veggies.

So i'm a southern girl and love my sweet tea! On the days that i'm out running errands, I swing through McD's and grab a sweet tea. I dare not eat their food though. LOL! i can't stand fast food.
Anyway, just wondering if anyone knows anything about their teas. Does it contain Gluten? If noone is sure, I can always contact them directly.
Thanks!

I haven't been properly diagnosed, but i've gone Gluten Free and have never felt better. I had those symptoms as well. I thought i was Diabetic, but was not. Especially after eating Chinese food. I would feel like I was starved an hour later, yet my stomach would be in knots from cramps! I think it was the Sesame Chicken (Fried!) lol!

Kami(that's my daughter's name too, but with a "C") Thank you for your input. My pains are completely gone today! It's so crazy. Like you, my pains came back 10x worse than they were before I went Gluten Free.
SLB5757-Wow our stories do sound quite similar. My dr put me on Nexium as well, but my ins wouldn't cover it so he changed it to Ranitidine. I'm still on it as well because he still thinks I have an Ulcer. I was on Omeprazole and RAnitidine and the pain was still there, but now that i'm Gluten Free, i've stopped the Omeprazole and feel so much better! I do'nt think I ever needed that medicine to begin with.
I also had mental fogginess, dizziness, headaches, lethargy, (the heart doctor siad I had Orthostatic Hypotension because I kept getting out of breath walking up our stairs) that is ALL gone now from just 2.5weeks on Gluten Free diet. I refuse to believe that was all in my head! I don't think i'll go back to Gluten for a Celiac diagnosis because the pains are just to bad! If there was one they could do without me being on Gluten i'd be all for it! lol! I thought about doing the Enterolab or another home lab test kit I found on celiacdisease.net Not sure yet though?

Hey Becky,
Thank you! I completely agree with you. He is far out of date. I will ask to see a GI doctor. Hopefully i'll get one who knows about Celiac Disease, as i'm fairly certain that's the reason for all of my pain recently.
I think I do have intolerance to dairy (for sure!), possibly corn, and maybe even pineapple, watermelon and orange. Is that possible? Any time I eat it, I have awful stomach cramps.
I'm still in pain from yesterdays bout of junk food and gluten consumption. I'm actually a little better than yesterday, but not as good as I have been the passed week. How long does it take to recover? Hopefully a couple of days and i'll be doing better.
-
So I must be crazy! I went back on gluten for the day to see if it was the diet or the meds helping me.
I ate a PopTart for breakfast (it has wheat flour among other things)
Tiny slice of frozen pizza for lunch
Cheetos as a snack (apparentley all Frito Lay products are Gluten Free, but I beg to differ)
The way I felt after eating those foods today was intollerable! I had acid reflux, heartburn, extreme stomach discomfort and cramps. Is it possible for Gluten to affect you that quickly??? Or was it just that I ate almost all junk all day? LOL! I will not be eating Gluten again, testing or no testing! Ugh! I feel awful!

Hey there. I'm new as well. My first post was just last night. I wanted to add that I have very similar symptoms to yours. Not Kidney Disease, but a multitude of kidney infections when I was a child. I now have extremely dry eyes. Years of constipation that alternated off and on with bouts of diarrhea. It was terrible. I've had a ton more symptoms though, so i'm trying Gluten Free diet and it seems to be helping. I hope you get some relief as well!
