Thanks.
Yeah, I'm in kind of a tough spot. Wish I would have found out about a month ago, when I first found this site...I could have just gotten the test done.
At any rate, I'm glad I at least know it wasn't done. And the only reason I found out is because I got copies of my labs(to compare with others on this site) and found the celiac panel was missing.

If I remember right, the panel was ordered a year or two ago. And because I never heard anything I assumed it was negative... and because the doctor was testing for other things (and has been testing for other things since then).
so my question for you guys is this:
I've been following the gluten-free diet for about two weeks now... well, maybe a month, but there were quite a few slipups in the first two weeks. So now I get to have another test whenever I want. But now that I've been on a gluten-free diet, I'm wondering for how long I should put gluten back in my diet before getting the test done. Would a week, or two weeks, be enough?
Thanks all.

hi. I haven't been diagnosed as celiac (although I'm suspicious), but I was diagnosed with a vitamin D deficiency about six or so months ago. it took a few months of 50,000 units twice a week to bring it up. Then my doctor dropped it down to once a week. And now every other week.
The main difference I noticed with my vitamin D back up was reduced joint pain, although it's still there from time to time.
initially, I used the vitamin D2 prescribed, but then I found a website and got a bottle of D3.
Here's the one I used:

also, here are a bunch of links connecting vitamin D to celiac:

thanks. That's pretty much what I was wondering: if celiac causes visible damage or irritation to the small intestine.
regarding blood tests, I'm thinking of getting copies of my medical records and then comparing them to what I've seen on here and learning more about them.
I'm actually hoping it's Celia. Sure it would be hard to follow the diet, but it would be so worth it to feel better again.
Not getting my hopes up or anything, but I'm just here to learn what I can.
ETA...
this link that I just found. It may help other searching this forum. It's pictures from an Endoscopy in Celiac Disease.

Hello all. I'm trying to figure some things out. I had an endoscopy a few years ago. The doctor wasn't looking for celiac. I didn't even know about celiac back then; I'm just now learning.
So anyway, he did it because I had(and still have) CFS, and because I also had a lot of gastrointestinal issues. The results came back pretty much normal, but the doctor said something about the duodenum being irritated(not sure if that's the word he used, it was a while ago. Maybe it was inflamed.).
So I'm wondering if that can be a suggestion of celiac, even though the doctor wasn't looking for it?
also, I had a biopsy and that came out normal, but I think it was from the esophagus.
My doctor eventually did test for celiac. Not sure what test he used; it was a blood test, I know that much and it was negative. But after reading all the stories on here I'm starting to wonder.
So does anyone think that could be a hint toward something? I've been experimenting with the celiac diet for a couple weeks now and some days I think I'm doing better, but others I don't see any results.
Thanks.

I don't know about the genetic test (still learning myself) but if you weren't eating gluten before the blood tests or endoscopy that would make the tests negative regardless of if you have celiac or not.
