-
i am woundering how long it could take to get results from dapsone its been 3 days now and still breaking out could it be because its been 7 years with dh without treatment and i know most people see results in a couple days should i be more patient im taking 50 mg per day the doc told me to take 25 mg but i dont think its enough is it possible it can take longer for me to see results

I've had a really bad case of DH on my scalp for @5 years, and it got much worse the last year or so until I stopped using any dairy products, and anything with corn syrup, xantam gum is just another name for corn syrup, so watch out. also any processed corn, chips ,tortillas, are bad mojo. swear to God, my DH is much much better in the last few weeks since i phased out dairy. i was just putting a little in my tea, but it was enough to keep my DH in full blown mode. I swear it's 50% less itchy or more, and it does'nt look nearly as inflamed, and is'nt oozing like it used to.I'm actually going out in public w/out a hat on for the first time in years! I hope this works for you, too!

ive had dh for 7 years now and i they finally realised what it was,the doc started me on dapsone yesterday,25mg i personaly dont think its enough, but i go see him in a week to see if i stoped breaking out, does anyone know if i should see anny difference by then at least a little clearing up or somthin so the he can up the dosage,im hoping i see the difference 7 years is a long fusterating time expecially when my dh is on my face....
-
thanks for the info,my problem is that ive been on the diet for 6 months and i still get it prety bad, there are little things that i must be missing but its fustrating because i never know what i ate that did it,the reason i asked if it was long term was because im in the army and right now i cant go to the field because i cant eat the food they provide,i know i drink a lot of coke and coke zero but coke says it is gluten free so i dont know im lost i just want to live a normal life with out having the rash on my face i guess im just really sensitive to gluten, maybe if i take the dapsone for a bit it will help me a bit we will see, thanks

I had a rash that had all the hallmarks of DH... had it for over 10 months and no topical provided relief. I never sought formal diagnosis (long story) but went gluten free 8/10/09. Within a week or so I was already seeing a difference, in that the topicals that did nothing before, now provided relief.
When I had a couple of pasta meals on a weekend away from home, I experienced an exacerabation of the rash.
Now, 6+ months out on the gluten-free diet, I am almost completely healed, save for the leftover purple spots.... I never went on dapsone. But from what I have read it has some undesirable side effects in the long term.
Yes, your DH may be greatly helped while you are on dapsone, and I am guessing you are currently adhering to a gluten free diet.
So what will happen if you go back to gluten??? Maybe - and others of more experience will correct me here - you will be ok as long as you stay on the dapsone. Maybe.
But do you really want to stay on a drug with known side effects forever? If you don't stay on a gluten free diet, that's what it will take.
Once you stop taking the drug, if you are still eating gluten, I would bet you a hundred bucks your DH will return to haunt you.

can anyone tell me if dh goes away after time on dapsone, will i eventually be able to eat gluten
-
if my skin condition eventualy goes away when im on dopsone for a while will i still have to go gluten free
-
i have diagnosed myself with dh i dont have the stomach troubles but people ask me if it is celiac i dont know what to tell them. is it considered celiac ?
-
does monster energy drink have gluten in it
-
Does the brand your taking say it is gluten free? I would perhaps try a different brand.
it says contains no artificial colours, preservatives, sweetners, dairy or wheat, yeast . the main ingredients are glucosamine sulfate complex from shelfish exoskeleton and the capsule is geletan rice and veggie grade magnesium stearate
-
i was woundering if glucosamine sulfate can aggravate dh it seams that since i took it a few days ago ive been breaking out but i need to take it im training for an ironman

is heinz ketchup gluten free?

thank Alib ill do my best im shure it will be worth itHi Hippo - welcome to the thread. It is very common to feel pretty horrible for a few days. There may well be a load of die-off going on of the unwanted beasties - yeasts and microbes - in your gut. I think most of us have experienced similar situations to a greater or lesser degree.
It does get better. It can take some weeks for everything to really start to settle down - I know my stools were going through the gamut from D to C and back again before it all settled.
You will probably crave carbs and rubbish because your body, and quite likely the beasties are begging for their food fix but if you can hang in there it does get better. You may find that if you can add a bit more fat into your diet that may well counteract the craving. Organic Coconut oil is good if you can find some, or even butter.
I am suggesting organic because I have realised that non-organic fats, like most non-organic stuff can contain toxins picked up from chemical spraying or animal feeds and drugs. The less toxic burden you put on your body the better.
A lot of us are struggling with our digestions and health in general because our livers are not able to cope with the level of toxins we are being bombarded with every day. The more toxic we get, the more we react to foods and substances, the harder it becomes to keep weight off (or conversely we are unable to gain weight), or lose weight.
Anyway, all I would say is try and hang in there - it may take time for your body and your liver to heal, but most of us on the diet would emphatically endorse its benefits, however long it takes.

i started the diet 3 days ago and its killing me i feel tired im in the canadien army so i run a lot and lift a lot of weights i have eaten fruits ,veggies , almonds, peanut buter, meats, honey and it still feels like thers somthing missing its almost like u can kill for junk food wich i cant eat can anyone give me suggestions?
-
i was reading over that scd diet and was wondering if it would be good for me im in the canadien army and do a lot of weights in the diet what would u recomend me to eat for more energy, more fruits or fats?I just wanted to share with all of you my amazing progress so far and it has only been 12 days. Little background first. Had allergy testing done 2 years ago and discovered, wheat allergy, dairy allergy, and soy as well. I was told my wheat allergy was not much of a big deal just don't ingest too much in one sitting ( big bowl of wheat cereal as he said). I didn't really see it as such a big deal so did what he said and just really limited my wheat. I noticed constant bloating, swelling throughout my entire body as well as water retention and horrible mood changes almost like anger and depression. It took me days to recover form this. It seems to happen with all grains After celiac testing was done just a few weeks ago ( still no one can figure if my tests results show anything at all) I decided to go gluten free anyway. I noticed a change almost right away in my joint pain and mood as well as energy level, but I continued to have bloating severly when I ate carbs. I read the post about the SCD diet and gave it a try.....WOW what a difference this has made for me in just 12 days. I have energy to burn, I am in a great mood almost always, I am not snapping at my kids, the bloating getting better day by day. I feel like I have a better quality of life just after two weeks. My dr said not to read into too much that it is just because I have changed my diet and am eating healthier, I think he is dead wrong I have always been a healthy eater that is why I included more grains to begin with, I make all my own food and don't eat anything un natural. I have never been over weight and exercise 6 days a week, but continued to be very unhealthy. I believe that it is 100% related to my diet, I am convinced more than enough to never eat gluten again...ever. I haven't felt this good in 10 years. I certainally don't need a positive test result to tell me I have gluten issues. Taking out the carbs to stop the fermentation and let the gut heal convinces me even more that I had some problems going on. I can only imagine what I will feel like in 6 months from now. Oh another thing after my last baby I had this horrible mask of pregnancy, in the past two weeks it is nearly gone, my guess is it has been quite some time since I have been absorbing vitamins properly, my skin is radiant. Just thought I would share my experience. -
If you are really gluten free I don't think you would get symptoms. Some people say they have to avoid shampoos etc that have gluten ingredients also. Have you checked all your vitamins, medications, all the food you are eating and everything you are drinking? Two weeks in there is a good chance you are not really gluten free. That stuff can be hidden in many many places. Wooden bowls, wooden spoons, toasters, etc. I think a good way to start gluten-free is eating all home cooked whole foods with simple spices like plain salt and black pepper. NO processed foods in boxes or cans at all. If you pick up an onion the ingredient list is not a mystery to read and decipher. Same with taters etc. So it can makes things simpler and less stressful at first since you don't need to learn all those hidden gluten terms at once.
I don't have dh myself, but I can't do coffee or tea. They do quite a number on me in other ways.
should i stay away from ketchup and v8 juice and stuff like that just to be safe?
-
i drink a lot of v8 low sodium juice i hope its not what keeps me flaring up

I've read that breakouts can be as far as 15 days after being "exposed". That's A LONG TIME to wait and wonder!! Be sure to journal and keep track of everything you eat so that you can gain a clue about how fast your system typically works, how much you may have been exposed to and how badly you were affected and simply what may have bothered you. If you are like alot of us, you may be bothered by multiple things. Once you KNOW you have one thing out of your diet and you are still being bothered, then you look at your journal and start deducing and eliminating things till you pinpoint the next item. Best wishes! You are in the "not at all fun stage" of this.
