  1. I just got an incredible deal on a membership to BJ's Wholesale club. I went last night and explored there are some amazing deals and i will save so much on certain items sadly i couldn't find alot of gluten-free items. Does anyone shop there and could advise what is gluten-free and a good deal.
  2. Hi everyone, I have a question regarding fiber supplements. My boyfriend has ulcers and his doc recommended he take more fiber. He bought Benefiber chewable s which are gluten-free. So he gave me some. One of my major symptoms is horrible diarrhea. Figuring it couldn't hurt I took some . Well this morning I got my period , but once in the shower i was doubled over with stomach cramps. I spent the next 25 min on the toilet with my favorite symptom the big D! It was horrible. Could this be because I increased my fiber intake?? Should I continue taking them??

    Canola Oil

Thanks Everyone for the input. The brownie mix as King Arthur gluten-free and I use several of their mixes with no problem, I really thinks it's the oil. It just seems like it's hard to avoid as it's in m gluten-free earth balance butter, and many other of my gluten-free products. I'll try to find alternatives. I don't have a corn intolerance but I guess that doesn't exactly mean I wont be intolerant to canola. I'll discuss it with my doc. Thanks again all!!

    Celiac And Eggs

I to had issues with eggs when I was first diagnosed. For about a year I could not eat eggs or dairy. Eggs would have me doubled over in stomach pain. It to was sudden one day I could eat them the next I couldn't. I discussed it with my GI and he recommended not eating them. After almost a year my boyfriend found a brand of all natural eggs that said gluten-free on the lable. I figured perhaps it could have been something the chickens were fed to cause my pain, in any event I tried these gluten-free eggs and no reaction. Whether I just got over the sensitivity or it's just these eggs I dont know but I gave it time and it worked out. Perhaps you just need more time to heal? Good Luck!

    Canola Oil

Hey everyone! I am so confused about canola oil! When I was first diagnosed a fellow celiac I know said to stay away from it, but while ingredient reading I noticed almost ALL of my gluten-free items made by gluten-free companies contained canola oil. Then I made gluten-free brownies from a King Arthur mix using canola oil and got super sick the next day? What gives?? Nothing i have read says it's a gluten containing oil, but for some reason it bothers me? Any ideas?

    Organic Foods

Just a quick question...I am newly diagnosed and just learning. If I buy organic products, such as tomatoe sauce, salad dressing, peanutbutter...ect and I can read and understand all the ingrediants would you guys say it's safe to eat?
  7. Thanks everyone i can enjoy my popcorn now !
  8. My boyfriend picked this up for me but i cannot tell if it is gluten-free ConAgra doesnt have a good list of gluten-free products to refrence?? The ingedients list soybean oil, beta carontene for color, but it also lists artificial flavor which is what worries me. To eat or not to eat that is my question????

    Is This Dh?

wondering if anyone else has this issue. I was just diagnosed about a month ago. And for a long time now i have been getting ( on and off) a strange skin rash that my dermatoligist said was excema but im not sure. It's a itchy then painful rash always on the palm of my hand. It begins with small liquid filled bubbled that break open when i scratch in my sleep, then it becomes painful due to the open skin? Is this a symptom? Is there anything i can do to treat it in the meantime? I have tried creams both perscription and OTC nothing seems to help!

Trust me i know what your feeling. I often bring food myself now, because my sister insisted that her potroast was gluten free she checked spices and everything! i was so excited and ate it, about half way through my meal my brother in law said " Gee that can of beer i dumped into the crockpot really tenderized this meat!" When i pushed my plate away and refused to eat anymore he said i was dramatic and a little beer wouldnt hurt me! Actually it did i was sick for two days. Unfortunatly sometimes all we can do is rely on ourselved and other celiacs to know what it's like.

    Just Diagnosed

Truth is i dont LOVE the buissness. I have a BA in education and was teaching until laid off, that's when i took this job as a server. And it has proved to be very lucrative making 100 a night mostly. But i dont want to make myself sick. My last pre-diagnosis TTG was 88! I have been so sick for so long i just want to feel better. I have lost 40lbs and have dirreah nasuea, stomach pain daily. Perhaps a nice quiet office job LOL? The resturant buisness is high stress i often work 8-10 hr days on my feet...i read stress isnt good for celiacs and can create symptoms. Maybe a job change isnt a bad idea. Thanks for all this information. I have some job hunting to do...not an easy task in this economy especially in RI smallest state fewer jobs :-/

Well this puts me in a bind as i dont believe they will do anything like seperating stuff for me, it's tough as EVERYTHING on thier menu is not celiac friendly at all. And the kitchen space is limited to one large room so seperating these items would be impossible...I'm in trouble ;-(

    Just Diagnosed

Hello All After over a year of blood tests 2 endocopys 1 colonoscopy and coutless appointments i have been diagnosed a celiac. I have done alot of research on going gluten-free and i am ready to get healthy, but i have one major concern. I work in an italian resturant where we make our own pizza calzones ect... Everything on our menu is pasta pizza, calzones and other "glutney" foods. I come in contact with much of it. I do my best not to handle these things, but i do wonder with the dough being made there all day long and im sure flour is in the air, is working in this resturant going to hinder my going gluten-free???? Any input would be useful.
